I don't have time to watch this quite this moment but I am SO HYPED!! This is EXACTLY the topic I needed covered! I'm throwing it into a playlist for my next art study session!
1:58 Not necessarily tho. Placing it high or low can just mean the composition is cropped in a certain way while line of sight still remains on the horizon line
Pretty much everything here is what I learned about perspective from our drafting class, especially the projection part. Back then I had no idea how to determine the size and distance of an object in relation to another object.
One issue with perspective is that, sometimes perspective is a bitch and lying on your exam gives better results, especially when it comes to character itself.
If you're watching this remember, this isn't a one time watch and then never again (watch "stop pouring and start drinking") I made my own personal video Playlist that's just a bunch of art tips and shorts that I watch before I start drawing, I recommend doing the same
Till before 2 days, all i knew about art was how accurately you could draw an image into a paper. But then as i dived into this, going through different tutorials, information and every1 giving their own tips i feel i m trapped in unlimited void, having everything but not being able to understand anything just to find myself immobilised with a paper and a pencil on my table and me looking at my phone. Anatomy, perspective, geometry, construction, shapes, body, posses, although everyone tried to help me including sir Excal himself. But still im not able to understand from where should I start or what to do
Take it easy and enjoy the process! You're piling on too much information at once, and it's getting overwhelming. Try breaking things down-figure out what you want to learn, then tackle each part separately. For example, instead of just saying, "learn anatomy," break it down into smaller chunks. You could start with the shoulders or the head, and stick with that until you're comfortable, then move on to the next part. And remember, make lots of mistakes. Don't aim for perfection, nobody's perfect.
The main issue that Ive been running into when I try to focus on drawing in perspective is that I misjudge the size of a cuboid that I'll need. Like how you drew a cuboid around a character to show their orientation in perspective, did you do that before or after drawing them? I tried before and They ended up not fitting inside of it. The same thing applies when I try to draw the individual parts of the body as simple shapes in perspective, it's hard to freehand guess 'how' I should be drawing them, and starting from the vanishing points always confuses the hell out of me. Is it really just a matter of getting good enough at guessing your way through it to get to a proper result?
¿What books do you recomend about perspective for beginners? So i can get on the grind right away. This is the first video about characters i perspective that i understand.
This video should be called "Some tips about perspective". Can you make video with drawing body in action with dynamic movement of hands, legs and pelves. Anyway Thx!
how do I know the thing I drew on the horizon line is a square? I mean, the lines converging at the horizon line are parallel so they're measurable, but what about the opposite lines? how do I place them? I dunno if I'm explaining myself clearly. I might have to draw it out and ask on the server.
There are ways to measure it using the station point, like what scott robertson talks about in his how to draw book, but the easiest way to estimate squares is by using ellipses. If you can draw a perfect ellipse inside your rectangular shape and it touches the sides of that shape in the middle of each side, it means that it's a square
@@excaliblader yea, that's... that seems logical. I think I was practicing drawing ellipses inside and outside boxes a while ago. trying to turn the box in perspective. I should've connected the dots, but sometimes brain does not brain well.
great advice as usual, my only question is that, why is the measurement only up to the guy's shoulder instead of head-just as shown in the apple, base to actual height of the object-does that imply that girl drawn in the front is smaller in height as she was only projected all the thru the guy's shoulder height only? otherwise i think the "before" looks just as fine

Need more books recommendation!
Like, what's the go to for human anatomy, or something
I've got a lot of books listed in the art resources channel in the discord server, but good books for anatomy are morpho and anatomy for sculptors
@@excaliblader yea I was going to suggest morpho but you beat me to it
Brother you commented about human anatomy on the one video that ISN’T human anatomy 💀
This man knows what catches people's eyes 👀
comment for the algo 💯
these longer vids deserve more recognition
Oh my god this is easily one of the best explanations of the horizon line i've ever seen and I've been drawing for more than a decade lakdjflakdjfalk
I really like your tutorials, they make me realize stuff about art I never knew before :)
Great explanation
Thanks!

Oh yes! Been waiting for this.
After years of reading perspective art books, I now truly understand how perspective drawing works!!! thanks for the video!!!

This is exactly what i needed a few days ago. Thanks!
Glad I could help!
Thanks, you sloved the doubts about perspective drawing i had earlier

Omg you finally made a vid about perspective tysmmmmm
I donno... When I project in my comics, I usually just end up making all the characters depressed.

I feel like his shorts and his videos have different vibes his shorts have a harsh tone but his videos have a lost softer tone

Yes, it means that if she was standing in the same spot as him she'd only be as tall as his shoulders.
Is there an anatomy of the legs?
