Before I married my ex, he asked me for $2000 for a meal card at college because he was "starving". I should have said no but I borrowed the money to give him. Then he borrowed $100 from me to get me a birthday present. I married him and fast forward 15 years and he divorced me after I kicked him out for endangering my daughter and her friends (he got arrested for letting them drive on the main road- they were 12, 13 and 14). I couldn't trust him. I had spending issues myself and thought I got them under control but I never did. I'm going to get them under control. This episode really reached my heart for some reason. If two sisters can do it, so can I.

Aunt Janice had found her nephews and her one niece for comfort for herself and the children also are blessed to have comfort and solace from their aunt.

My mom did after 2 yrs cause she retired but I didn't make her financially responsible for anything. She saved me a ton in after school cost but I ran all errands and paid for everything pertaining to the kids.

Here with Maggie losing her support system would mean her life would be in a far worse shape due to her limited income.
I've probably watched four or five of these episodes just today cuz I just stumbled upon your program today! but this one made me cry! why you may ask, I'm really not sure! maybe it has to do with the bagpipes and I have Scottish blood running through my veins or the fact that they are sisters and are able to find some common ground or maybe it's just the fact that I've seen five of these episodes and it's finally sinking in about me being unemployed and living in a homeless shelter. towards the end of this video the thought came to me that I need to spend eight hours a day looking for a job that needs to be my full-time job until I have one! well done ladies!

Canada pays for doctor's visits, surgery, and hospitals but not for medications. If you're low income you can get help with meds, but this woman may not have qualified. A lot of people have health insurance through their jobs that will pay for medications, dental and vision care.

He went to MIT & his company had automatic life insurance of 1 yrs pay, he could increase it every year for 3 years. I was fortunate to be able to pay off my house & still have $150,000 to put in savings. Besides him I was taking care of my Alzheimer's mother & father with end stage prostate cancer. I'm a RN in the OR & suffered when I got home to bathe them( luckilyI have 3 full bathrooms. Then I had to make them supper. Feeding loved ones that are on chemo & radiation is difficult because it changes your taste buds. My dad died first after 50yrs & my confused mom kept trying to leave the house. I didn't intend to spend 6 months at my mother's childhood home since she was 10. You have to have a savings for emergencies my mom got Alzheimer's at age 67 & dad got prostate cancer at 65 but the urologist told me that he wouldn't die from this , it would be heart disease or a stroke. My message is that possessions ,fancy cars , restaurants, & trips don't matter at all when someone you love is suffering & imminently dying when you need to be next to them.I took 6 months off when dad died & 6 months off when mom was declining & would only take sips of juice. She voiced that my brother (psychiatrist) kept taking her to dad's grave until the cemetery closed in November . After that she wanted to go to heaven to be with him, they dated for 5yrs before marriage. My brother worked for a corporation & warned him about taking time off because of family emergencies. So, I told my OR manager that I needed to go home to Lake Ontario snow storms to prevent Mt. S

I listen to true crime stories a lot. I saw a show about the Manson family from the 60's. The woman that went to authorities when she heard Susan Atkins talking about the murders did a podcast. The only reason she was in jail was because she wrote some bad cheques. (I assumed they mean that her cheques bounced). I could be wrong but I can't imagine that happening now.
I thought it was illegal in the States. My employer wrote me a bad check for my payroll and I could not get the local DA to be bothered with it. I wish I had pressed harder . She only did this this me once and made good on the check a week later. Still…I had income with my husband but this follow employee was a single mother and was being given bad checks repeatedly. I should have done it for her. She was an immigrant and needed her green card status till she could apply for citizenship so she couldn’t leave this job. She had followed her husband to the States and he’d left her. Sad situation for a person who did not deserve it. After 5 years she got her own status with government. She handed in letter of resignation that day.

Once you have kids your party days are over unless you make an excellent amount like a million a year or close to it or until they are all grown and out of the house and on the whole shoes thing I only have two pairs of sneakers one for work which is pretty good condition and a pair that’s kind of worn out due to them being my old work shoes and only use on my days off for going to places until they are completely broken down and can’t be used again save a ton of money

I'm living on less than half what they have combined, and I'm doing just fine. I never party, nor do I buy unnecessary things, and both of my children are deceased---they'd be 48 and 46 now, anyhow---nor do I have grandchildren, and my parents are deceased. I never observe the useless manmade "holidays," so no expenses on gifts. I have very good health insurance, along with Medicare (I'm retired), own my car outright, all but two pieces of my furniture was given to me, and I own the two that I bought. I don't buy expensive food, going to Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Walmart, and Aldi for groceries. I don't have anyone in to visit, living just a bit too far for my friends to come here much (they're all young enough to be my adult children, and have growing families of their own).

So what is the answer to the challenge with the corn chicken and fox? Someone's going to eat something any way I look at it.
Ah, this is an old riddle I remember as a child:
The corn, the chicken, and the fox must cross the river in a boat that can only hold one of them at a time, but you, the farmer, must not leave the corn with the chicken, else the corn will be eaten, and you must not not leave the chicken with the fox, else the chicken will be eaten.
Thus you will need to make several trips:
1 - Take the chicken across the river. Head back alone.
2 - Take the fox across the river. Head back with the chicken.
3 - Take corn across the river. Head back alone.
4 - Take the chicken across the river. Done!
I can see why Janice is a drama queen. But on the surface she doesn’t seem like the type, does she?
I’m from America, but can someone from Canada explain to me why all the salaries are so low compared to American salaries. Is it because these episodes are from several years ago? Is it because Canadians don’t pay for health insurance, or other things Americans do? Is the cost of living cheaper? Sorry if this is a dumb question 🙏🏻

I think Janice was the older sister. I don’t think they said how close to retirement the two sisters were. Did Maggie own the house? If yes, Maggie will have the value of house when she retires. What will Janice have unless she stops subsiding her sister and taking loans for Maggie’s needs. Imo
They rented the house. Their rent was $1200 a month.
