    The way the mother was shouting at her sister telling her “you’ll have to do the grocery shopping, you’re gonna have to clean the house, you’re gonna have to be here for the kids while I work”, That would make me as The belittled sister to go back to Scotland and let the mother fend for herself and her children on her own.

    Before I married my ex, he asked me for $2000 for a meal card at college because he was "starving". I should have said no but I borrowed the money to give him. Then he borrowed $100 from me to get me a birthday present. I married him and fast forward 15 years and he divorced me after I kicked him out for endangering my daughter and her friends (he got arrested for letting them drive on the main road- they were 12, 13 and 14). I couldn't trust him. I had spending issues myself and thought I got them under control but I never did. I'm going to get them under control. This episode really reached my heart for some reason. It takes tough love to get them out of the messes that they got themselves into and the prescriptions are intended to get them to realise their realities. Money is often the major factor in relationship failures.

      My husband died at age 40 of AML a rapid type of leukemia. Luckily he was a process engineer level 4. He went to MIT & his company had automatic life insurance of 1 yrs pay, he could increase it every year for 3 years. I was fortunate to be able to pay off my house & still have $150,000 to put in savings. Besides him I was taking care of my Alzheimer's mother & father with end stage prostate cancer. I'm a RN in the OR & suffered when I got home to bathe them( luckilyI have 3 full bathrooms. Then I had to make them supper. Feeding loved ones that are on chemo & radiation is difficult because it changes your taste buds. My dad died first after 50yrs & my confused mom kept trying to leave the house. I didn't intend to spend 6 months at my mother's childhood home since she was 10. You have to have a savings for emergencies my mom got Alzheimer's at age 67 & dad got prostate cancer at 65 but the urologist told me that he wouldn't die from this , it would be heart disease
      or a stroke. My message is that possessions ,fancy cars , restaurants, & trips don't matter at all when someone you love is suffering & imminently dying
      when you need to be next to them.I took 6 months off when dad died & 6 months off when mom was declining & would only take sips of juice. She voiced that my brother (psychiatrist) kept taking her to dad's grave until the cemetery closed in November . After that she wanted to go to heaven to be with him, they dated for 5yrs before marriage. My brother worked for a corporation & warned
      him about taking time off because of
      family emergencies. So, I told my OR manager that I needed to go home to Lake Ontario snow storms to prevent Mt.

She only did this this me once and made good on the check a week later. Still…I had income with my husband but this follow employee was a single mother and was being given bad checks repeatedly. I should have done it for her. She was an immigrant and needed her green card status till she could apply for citizenship so she couldn’t leave this job. How do people survive on such low income

    • @jb6712
      @jb6712 3 місяці тому +1

      I'm living on less than half what they have combined, and I'm doing just fine. I never party, nor do I buy unnecessary things, and both of my children are deceased---they'd be 48 and 46 now, anyhow---nor do I have grandchildren, and my parents are deceased.
      I never observe the useless manmade "holidays," so no expenses on gifts.
      I have very good health insurance, along with Medicare (I'm retired), own my car outright, all but two pieces of my furniture was given to me, and I own the two that I bought.
      I don't buy expensive food, going to Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Walmart, and Aldi for groceries. I don't have anyone in to visit, living just a bit too far for my friends to come here much (they're all young enough to be my adult children, and have growing families of their own).

    So what is the answer to the challenge with the corn chicken and fox? Someone's going to eat something any way I look at it.

    • @NotAFanOfHandles
      @NotAFanOfHandles 2 роки тому +5

      Ah, this is an old riddle I remember as a child:
      The corn, the chicken, and the fox must cross the river in a boat that can only hold one of them at a time, but you, the farmer, must not leave the corn with the chicken, else the corn will be eaten, and you must not not leave the chicken with the fox, else the chicken will be eaten.
      Thus you will need to make several trips:
      1 - Take the chicken across the river. Head back alone.
      2 - Take the fox across the river. Head back with the chicken.
      3 - Take corn across the river. Head back alone.
      4 - Take the chicken across the river. Done!

    I’m from America, but can someone from Canada explain to me why all the salaries are so low compared to American salaries. Is it because these episodes are from several years ago? Is it because Canadians don’t pay for health insurance, or other things Americans do? Is the cost of living cheaper? Sorry if this is a dumb question 🙏🏻

    I think Janice was the older sister. I don’t think they said how close to retirement the two sisters were. Did Maggie own the house? If yes, Maggie will have the value of house when she retires. What will Janice have unless she stops subsiding her sister and taking loans for Maggie’s needs. Imo
