The FACT the husband is already thinking of divorce, and has come to terms with it, as WELL as the wife, saying “maybe I am better off without him”….that is a HUGE red flag, and they should just split up….because no amount of counselling is going to change minds that have folded the cards- period

Men and women are different when it comes to this kind of thinking. When the woman has accepted that they need to be divorced, there’s almost no changing that mind. When a man thinks the same thing, it’s situational and can be changed if circumstances change consistently for a period of time.

    $80,000 in consumer debt ? 😳

    • @lindsay3995

I have close to that but then I remember that mine are student loans which aren’t “really” consumer debt and at least resulted in my current stable job w/ benefits (and decent prospects for a similar or better one if I lose that job for any reason). It’s credit card debt that truly stings when for lots of people it results from just not paying attention for years on end & rarely actually improves your quality of life noticeably anyway day to day.

But at the end of the day- what the kid will remember is the memories- YOU being there for them, encouraging them, teaching them to be their own person-the love and how you empowered them is what they will remember more than the stuff you left behind

Over spending on random crap is almost always a symptom of unhappiness within the relationship, the debt just shows you already had problems then gives you something else to argue about.
It would be so helpful to identify what was already broken before the spending started or they will just go right back to it.

Yes, I've had to pick up some side hussles (door dash/instacart) and put in some overtime getting it paid down fast as a I can-I HATE having this much credit card debt and it needs to be gone asap. My credit score is 750, hubby 725. I'm having major issues getting a personal loan to pay off all that debt at once for less than 19% interest. I will be the ass here. She has spent like she was still working and let herself go. I know having a baby is tough and a long break from work makes it hard to jump back in the saddle...but if she leaves she gets to take the baby and dump half her debt onto him. He is the one in a bad space and I wouldn't be romantic to her either when she is threatening him with that.

Internalised misogyny for upvotes is nice. She "let herself go" because she had a baby for crying out loud. You know, grew a human being. She works FT as a RN and is a mother. This worm of a man - how much does he actually do around the house? How much parenting? How much of the workload? I actually dislike Gail in this episode because she's obviously not getting it and is projecting her own internalised misogyny onto the wife.

Naw, she's exhausted. I can give her a pass on that. Now not having a garage sale and selling alot of their stuff to make back some cash, ok. Tho finding the time and energy to do the garage sale maybe difficult. Unfortunately FB market place didn't exist back then, lol.
