Well done! Car looks really clean, aerial delete was a must and side and roof stripe work really well - nice one 👍. As you know, my preference is the 911 emblem in black and definitely continue the stripe under the black emblem. The yellow “Porsche” although it will be unique is probably a little too “matchy” in my opinion. Oh, and maybe add some twin exhaust tips from dansk ... would look great with the wing! 😉

Auto Amateur you didn’t ask me but I’ll answer anyhow.... I think the matte black look better. Then you can put the black “911” on the rest of the stripe like I mentioned in my other comment. I feel if you add carbon fiber in one place, you have to strategically place it elsewhere on/in the car. All this of course is just my $0.02.

Auto Amateur agreed. Carbon is beautiful, but pricey. It’s best when done in just the right amount. I do believe there can be too much CF (aesthetically speaking) if left unpainted.

I think what you've done looks great and whatever you want to do on the back. be it bare or badged, it should come out well. I have a 2010 Cayman S and what I did was to remove the chrome lettering and install black lettering on the hatch. I also installed the 987 numerals (Porsche Script) centered on the upper portion of the rear bumper cover and hand painted them red . My Cayman is black like your 997 Carrera 911. I think the 997 & 987 are some of the finest examples since the 964 air cooled 911.

I was glad to see the notification for your channel, the car looks absolutely amazing. You've made some brilliant styling decisions. As for the badge on the back, I'm suggesting the chrome numbers "911" rather than the letters. The blank space does look appealing but I agree that it needs something. The numbers would, in my opinion, flow with the sporty elegance of your car. Also, it would be great to see LED tail lights to further add to the upgraded look of the car. I'm thinking the non-smoke version. As always, thanks for taking us along with you on the journey!

Auto Amateur Yes, there's some nice options out there for the gen 2 style for your 997. I've been planning some mods for a Carrera 4S and came across them.

Looks awesome! I ordered a chinese fibreglass wing for my 981 Cayman. My body shop couldn't get the paint right. Under light you could see ripples and waves and it would distort the reflection. Yours looks top notch.

The car looks great! Nicely balanced front to rear with both wings installed. And the stripes look fantastic.
I would go with the chrome PORSCHE lettering on the rear deck lid. You can't see any other yellow back there, so it will stand out because of that, IMHO. Either way, the car looks spectacular! Well done!

The wing turned out great! Here’s my vote. My first choice would be the “Porsche” lettering but in a matte or satin black. My second choice would be “911” also in matte or satin black. If you went with “911,” then I would also extend the grey stripe down to the end of the deck lid like you did in the front.
Are you also considering deleting the rear bumperettes? Or, perhaps a rear bumper swap? That might be good if/when you swap the tail lamps to the LED 997.2 version.
Try not to run yourself too ragged with the new baby! Congratulations!

I am looking at the rear bumper, GT3 style. It has cool little vents on the left and right and NOOOOOOOOOO flipping bumperettes!!! 🙌🏆
Now that is so nice, it looks really balanced now and love the stripe. I’m thinking silver Carrera with the stripe continued through to the end of the rear lid to match the front and the silver Carrera over the top. Love it and it’s a credit to you 👍

you should consider flat black decals I first did mine with the dark grey then I painted the stripes in flat black and it looks so much better

Bluetooth is a must these days I think. Safety and convenience. As for the short shifter... I’ve thought about too. I’ve heard lots of great things about the mod but the one thing I’ve heard that has put me off is this... if you have any issues gear shifting today, the short shift kit will amplify them. My shift between first and second, and from second to first, is a little clunky when the car is cold. I’m worried the short shift kit will make it worse. 🤔🤔 I need to find some time to figure out the solution to that first I think. Gear oil change maybe??
Yep, i have also been warned that the 997 Short Shifter is worse. I have same issue with 1st to 2nd. Need to be sure i guess, as not a super cheap modification. I was told it takes 3-4hrs to install.
That sounds right and from what I can find on YT it might be a job I would be willing to attempt myself... maybe... 😆
Short shifter.. You are both correct to be concerned regarding the possibility the the reduction in resolution of the s/s kit aggravating any existing reluctance of the transmission to move smoothly between 1st and 2nd gears.I considered this but went ahead anyway. Points to be aware of to mitigate said issue:
1.It can be a DYI job however make sure that cables are in exact same position after mods as before.
2. Make sure kit has metal bearings instead of original "plastic" ones. Reduces play in the cage assembly.
I have 997 2cs 2008 and have never regretted the upgrade.It enhances the driving experience no end!!
Man are you happy ? Be honest. I am not, I install all original gt3 wing, same as yours design but for 996, side skirts, front lip. After installation i sold my car ))) i will never do like that any more, nothing better than clean original looks.in same time car was looking fantastic.
Hey Sasha! Great to hear from you! I’m honestly very happy, I truly love how my car looks now. I’m also glad that all of these changes are 100% reversible. If I sell the car one day, the buyer can take it as it is or have the stock parts. Sorry to hear your experience wasn’t as positive!!

First of all congrats on the upgrades of the car. They look awesome! I was wondering when the video would come out but I am sure the new baby keeps most of your attention. My car is badge less and that's what I prefer but everyone is different, I love the stripes and if that was my car I would bring the stripes all the way down on the rear and leave the badge off. Now I did not hear you say anything on the next update??????? How about an exhaust, or a different rear bumper hint, hint. As always I enjoyed the videos keep them coming. I too love Michaels channel.

Looks really great. You might consider the 991 generation Carrera emblem in stock chrome. It's smaller and I think modernizes the car a smidge.

Beautiful job on the car. I think you should leave the stripes as is and install the chrome Carerra in the back lid. It makes it look more original which is what you want to achieve.

Great Job. It was worth the wait. Your 997 looks amazing! In regards to the emblems, I would have to give some thought. The one thing I can say for sure is NOT to use the yellow lettering... it would be to much yellow. And black on black? Not sure. However, the original Carrera emblem in the gray might work... Chrome might also be to much.. Not sure to be honest.
I might go with a gloss black for my 997, but it’s Silver with Black Gloss Wheels.

Grey Carrera with a yellow s badge I reckon I know your gunna say well it’s not a Carrera s but it’s not a GT3 either so you might as well mix it up even more lol anyhow looks great I must say I did change me 996 to a GT2 deck lid but now having the 997 I kinda like the original rear spoiler each to their own 👍🏻

Aaaaaaaawwwwwwww YEAH!!! Finally!! I was beginning to get worried we’d never hear from you again! 911 looks amazing!!! The spoiler is fantastic!! Love it!! The decals are awesome as well. I did question why they stopped where they did, but you explained that. I feel the front could be “rounded off” on the bumper or something, but it isn’t purist Porsche so, scratch that. As for the emblem, I think that yellow may be too much. Could be just because it was on a yellow background as well. Have you considered completing the strip in the back and the just putting “911” on the rear, in the stripe? I think that would work in black and even yellow, since it’s just 3 characters. I also think the tail emblem should complement the exhaust tips, so a black emblem should go with black exhaust tips, chrome with chrome. Yellow could go with either, I suppose. Things to think about and you about with. Either way, good job!!

Auto Amateur if and when you do new wheels, I think they should be the color of the grey stripe or a tad lighter. That would tie it all together. Or yellow!!! ; )
Aha!! Nice one. I like the idea of the black emblem. I think that would look really smooth, but maybe only with the decal brought down over the rear of the deck lid. The best thing about the decals and emblems of course is that they’re so easy to install and easy to remove if they don’t look good. I might experiment a bit!

Tail looks real nice, the tail lines up really perfectly with body very professional work also like the door stripes thinking of doing that to my car...yellow Porsche badge on spoiler doesn't work for me lol..

if you haven't done so, so far paint math the wheels to the grey decal. I think it would be a great compliment to the other grey and yellow accents.

for consistency I'd go with the color of the decals, but gun metal always looks good.
I'd also add I think for the Porsche Badge, in the rear going with a dry carbon fiber would look amazing with the black. It would be a subtle contrast

Looks awesome. Man that wing was a lot of work, now i am wondering what the Darius would look like, as it is subtle and a much easier install. I personally find the wing a little overpowering and takes away from the classic look, but everyone likes the wing. Decals came out well, the strip is perfect, anymore and i think it becomes too much. Badging basic "Carrera" logo in the script brushed silver. May not see the black since the car is already black. All looks awesome and by your enthusiasm, you are happy. Enjoy..

how do you deactivate the original pop up spoiler, ie mechanism & wiring & i heard also that a warning light comes on the dash saying that something is wrong once you mess about with the wires. how do you get rid of that message in the info on the dash? great car btw, im getting lots of inspiration for my c2s form yours. i think i will be going for the duck tail though.
All of the mechanism for the original spoiler is self-contained within the spoiler itself. All you need to do is unplug the wiring harness and remove the two hinges, then the whole spoiler comes off. You’re right about the message in the dash. When you go above 75 mph you get an error message that says the spoiler hasn’t deployed. Your local Porsche dealer can turn that off for you, or you can do it yourself if you have one of the auto software test apps on your laptop and plug for under the dash. I would just ask your dealer to turn the error message off. It’s just a configuration setting that tells your car that you don’t have an automatic spoiler installed. Takes 2 mins. Looks really good, yellow badge would spoil it. I would leave it as is, it would be very clean. With the stripes and the yellow and the big spoiler already there is an awfully lot going on.

Haha. Nah, not really. I know more Porsche drivers and car enthusiasts who say “Porsch” instead of “Porsch-e”. It’s like Nike vs. Nike-ee, my friends and I growing up in the UK always said Nike without the “ee” because we didn’t know any better. I still feel weird saying Nike-ee. nice look...have the 997 4S Cab - I personally hate the "Carrera" logo, go with "911", forget the yellow "Porsche" obviously it needs rear badging (your not 25 and a Porsche is not a "ricey" car). do like the retro racing stripes and love the GT3 wing!!!

It's the stock Carrera front bumper with the cup aerokit splitter along the bottom.

Everything you need can be reused from your current deck lid. But correct, the wing comes without any of the parts, just the wing itself and the grill inserts.

@@omnimesh4096 Yes. I think I explain it all in either this video or one of the other videos I made about this spoiler. You basically have two choices - reuse the hardware you have on your current deck-lid (e.g. fan, wiring harness, screws, rubber gaskets/plugs etc) or buy new ones from a Porsche Parts specialist, like Gaudinporsche.com

How did you solution the Check Raised Brake Light error? I replaced my wing, but get this error b/c the new fixed wing doesn't have an LED light bar.
You can either have Porsche quickly reprogram the software for you with their PIWIS tool, or there is a quick and dirty solution that involves splices a couple of the wires together to the wiring harness that connects to the old light bar.

How did the spoiler handle rain and car washes? Looks like the water can flow right into the engine bay?
Just fine! There really isn't too much difference between the factory deck lid and the aerokit. The rain gets in, either way.
Could you of not just used the hardware off your original bootlid- what do you actually need to buy that the original bootlis does not have ? Thanks
I ended up reusing most of the hardware from my factory deck-lid on the new GT3 spoiler actually, so yes - you're quite right. I ended up returning most of the parts I bought. My original plan was to make going back to factory as easy as possible, but ultimately I loved the new wing so much I didn't need to worry.
Did you install the hood and roof decals yourself? If so how was it? Any tips? I like how it turned out!
Hey Bill! Thanks! I tried to install the door decals myself and it was a total disaster. I had to buy them again. I ended up going to a local shop, LaMettrey’s of Chanhassan. I think it was around $200 to get them installed. They came out perfectly. I’m so happy I got a pro to install them.

I love everything you've done to your car so far. I think you should definitely go with the yellow Porsche emblem. It will match the stickers and the brake calipers. Make it your own! I love it

So how does the car feel on the road with the front and back done? Better?
Much much better. The nose feels like it’s staying close to the ground and the rear feels steady like a rock. It’s incredible how much of a difference there is!
How does this wing and similar wings work with the active spoiler system?
It doesn’t. When you get a fixed wing spoiler like the one I have, you need to switch off the active spoiler setting and associated warning light by using the Porsche programmer tool. My friend did it for me in 5 mins flat, it’s super easy. You can always turn it back on again if you go back to your stock wing later.
Whats next, new exhaust?
Great question! Exhaust, yes. Either the gundo-hack or the FabSpeed muffler deletes. I’m also considering moving from my stock 18in rims to 19in rims. Either the Porsche lobster claws like Michael Bath has on his 997, or something similar to the GT3 style but not center locking. I might also check out the GT3 style rear bumper to complete the Aerokit and fiiiiiinally get rid of the bumperettes (which I’ve never liked, not even on the old school 911s). What kind of exhaust would you consider??

Hey i just put the same wing as well, do you know the part id for that weather strip that goes along on the back to seal the bottom of the aero kit to the bumper? Are there any other weather strips that I should look out for? Please let me know and thank you in advance!

@@AutoAmateur the rubber stoppers i took off the original lid, there's no reason that the rubber seal wouldn't fit on the wide body spec right? should be the same?

Ive got a 991 C2S and love your wing and decals but yellow rear badge would just be a tad gaudy........i think as far as aesthetics are concerned you've done some tasteful upgrades and from now on.....less is more...from a sunny UK for a change
