Absolutely stunning, Alex. On the Ethel Challenge, I went up Grindslow Knoll. And when I did a loop around to Brown Knoll, I went up Jacob's Ladder, then turned left just after that stone pile marker. So I know what you mean about hard climbs. Both ways were much of a muchness. Following you on Insta , I can't wait for these vlogs to come out. Fantastic wild camp. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Chris!! Grindslow knoll is equally as hard! 😅 hope you’re enjoying your Ethel bagging, I need to get onto that soon! Lots of videos to come in the next few weeks! Cheers Chris 👍😊
@alexcripps.outdoors my comment disappeared. 🤔. I finished my Ethels on Kinder, then reset my Trig count to zero for the 88 Trig Point Challenge. My rationale is that I missed some in fog or poor conditions, so I wanted to experience them all again. I'll leave the bit about Alex out then. I completed Trigs 24 & 25 on Thursday with Axe Edge Moor and Burbage Edge. A lovely little circular. Loving the channel and keep up the great work.
Lovely that mate really enjoyed that..lots of familiar sights & I particularly like that camp spot 😉 Interesting about the firepot meals as I've tried quite a few & some I've found quite bland but then an odd one really nice.. There's nowt like a cold dip to smarten the senses up either..didn't get chance on the cumbria way last week & it was somet I planned on too. With the weather of late it's nice to be able to take time on the walk in & out ain't it & enjoy the landscape, immerse you're self into it & go with the flow..love it..cheers pal take care..
It’s one to add to the list!! However I reckon you’ve camped at nearly every good spot on Kinder by now 😂 Yes a few of them can be a little bland, I’m usually hungry and tired when eating them so anything I eat tastes amazing 😆 and you’re right can’t beat a cold dip to waken you up! I’ve just finished work for a couple days and will be sitting down and watching yours and Paul’s Cumbria Way videos, very much looking forward to it!! We couldn’t have picked better weather to do a multi dayer could we! Thank you very much Andy, really appreciate it 😊👍
@@alexcripps.outdoors forgets the tent and everything else needed, telescope is the main priority 😅 dont know how Id feel about lugging it up there though..😂
We'll forgive you the lack of videos because it means you've been out enjoying the amazing outdoors and we can expect a good few videos to come, the dip in the water looked quite chilly though! fantastic to see Kinder Low. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you very much! 😊 Lots of videos to come in the next few weeks! The water coming off Kinder is always freezing 😂 certainly a good way to wake up though! Thank you 😊
Nice video again Alex, well put together . I have never had a dip in Grindsbrook Clough but it's on my list now. My favourite dipping spot on Kinder is on the lower section of Blackden Brook if i am coming over from Alport Valley area and its well worth it if you haven't already.. I have been using the MSR Hubba NX for may last 4 trips and i really like it for many reasons. Not sure if you know but you can pitch it fly first and i use my pretents soloist groundsheet with the inner which i just leave attached because it's that little bit less faffing about. Just be careful that you use the MSR pocket rocket sparingly because although they are very good they tend use up a lot of gas and i only use a 400ml titanium mug because they heat up super quick . In a bid to save on gas i just bought myself the BRS burner which is smaller than the pocket rocket and half its weight , coming in at just 27gms and only 20 quid incl delivery on Amazon. Looking forward to watching more of your adventures and good luck with your through hike.
Beautiful and so relaxing as usual. I started to wonder what had happened to you as we had not had a video for a while and I always look forward to watching them. Take care of yourself and keep enjoying the countryside.
Thank you so much! 😊 that’s very kind of you, just been busy enjoying the sunshine but now that it’s raining again there’ll be lots of videos coming soon hopefully! 😊 thank you, you too!
Cracking video Alex! Capturing the stunning surroundings of the Peaks! The wild camp looked like great fun! This time of year is the best! Looking forwards to your 100km camp and hike! Keep up the great work and stay safe & well :) Max
Great video as usual. I was up there on Thursday 8th. Was very similar conditions. Very chilly east wind and I too got up for sunrise and was clag so went back to bed for a few hours. I was on the other side of the plateau between Grindslow Knoll and Crowden Clough. Then the next day I went to The Courteeners at Heaton Park. Two very contrasting nights.
Great video Alex! I’ve just come back from 5 days in the Lakes camping at Keswick. This Saturday planning to do an 8 mile circular walk taking in Mam Tor, Great Ridge, Hope Valley back to Castleton, and then back to the car via the old broken road . You talking about all those lovely meals has made me very hungry, and I had planned a bit of a ‘fast’ day today to try and get rid of some excess weight - we will see if my willpower lasts! 😀
Thank you peter! I’ve also just come back from camping in Keswick 😂 stayed at Castlerigg Hall campsite, fantastic place! Sounds like a great plan, that’s one of my favourite walks to do in the Peaks, so much to see and do along the way. I hope the fast went well 😆 and hope you have a fantastic walk this weekend! Cheers Peter 😊👍
Being the ripe old age of 36 and from Stockport, really wanting to begin exploring and getting into wild camping to help with my mental health would you say locally the areas around Edale are the best. Found your videos today and love them thank you.
Great video Alex. Kinder's amazing, can't go too far wrong with a wild camp up there. Your vids are always so atmospheric with beautiful scenery and music. What's the first piece of music? You use that quite often.
just came across your channel , loved the video and you picked a beautiful spot , im going to start wild camping in 2024 and ive been looking for nice and easy places for our first time , this looks like it could be the one , what do you think ? or can you recommend somewhere nice and easy to start out . Thanks Stuart
Wonderful video as always Alex. Kinder never fails to deliver! I was up there on three days last week and never tire of it. And you are so right, the much longer days are amazing! Didn’t finish walking until 10pm one day last week and still barely used the head torch. Are you heading up to Crow Stones Edge area for a wild camp this summer (probably my favourite view in the Peaks)?
Awesome! Glad you managed to get up on Kinder, you’ll have had some beautiful weather for it as well, looked like you had an ace time! Crow Stones is sitting top of the priority list for this summer, a little further away from home but it’s happening for sure! Thank you very much Greg, really appreciate it 😊👍
Enjoyed the video. Beautiful shots as well. Watched in gloomy winter so helped lift my spirits! Am curious to know what type of camera you used? Video quality was excellent. ATB
I've had the vegan orzo Bolognese, it is very tasty....even to a meat eater like me who bought it in error 🤣. I honestly think it is better than the beef version for some reason. The posh pork and beans on the other hand....🤢...the pork looked like those dried pigs ears dog treats....and had the same consistency....it didn't re hydrate properly for some reason.
I’ll be sticking to the vegan one then 😂 they can be very hit and miss the dehydrated meals, luckily I’ve had no bad ones yet 🤞that pork one doesn’t sound too appetising 😂
For a split second, when you're pegging out the inner of your tent, it looks like you might be unfurling the 1940's bad flag - it's an interesting choice of colour selection that causes a bit of a double take..
Loved that mate, it's my neck of the woods too.
