In my opinion, the best version of this absolutely moving aria. She captures every nuance, her voice is ripe & full yet refined & always under her control. Her Italian is so beautiful.

Yes, it's hard to find. But, it's on a CD called "Top Ten Mezzos," which includes a number of other excellent performances from the world's leading mezzo sopranos.

This is the first aria I will sing...ever! I'm kind of nervous...but I'm falling more and more in love with opera and I hope I can learn enough to be a teacher one day. I'm 28 years old...never took opera singing lessons before!!! When I translated this aria and I said it out loud it fell like a juicy piece of fruit in my mouth...so passionate, yet sweet and delicate

It was my first aria too!! Writing this makes it seem as though I've been singing opera for years... I'm 16, and I only started singing classical music and opera last year. But I really love this aria!

DAVAMARC age is but a number. Apparently you have the heart and courage to try something different. I'm 45 years old and I'm learning my first German Italian and Opera singing. It's a beautiful experience! Keep it up and best wishes for your future as a teacher.

    O del mio dolce ardor
    Bramato oggetto
    Bramato oggetto
    L'aura che tu respiri,
    Alfin respiro
    Alfin respiro.
O vunque il guardo io giro,
    Le tue vaghe sembianze
    Amore in me dipinge:
    Il mio pensier si finge
    Le più liete speranze;
    E nel desio che così
    M'empie il petto
Cerco te, chiamo te, spero e sospiro.
    O del mio dolce ardor
    Bramato oggetto
    Bramato oggetto
    L'aura che tu respiri,
    Alfin respiro
    Alfin respiro.

What a heavenly performance! So tender, so pure, clear and natural! It says "dolcissimo" in the notes and her singing truly is. And then these delightful tiny glissandi she does on "cerco que" (2:00min) and "chiamo te" fit just perfectly.

      ahahahahahahahah
      coraggio mio giovane esteta!
      no comment.

      come osamo ????..............................................................

      lascia perdere...

I've listened to a lot of "covers" for this aria but I've decided that Theresa Berganza's interpretation is probably the best -this is a man's role, but if i am not mistaken it was probably written for a castrato as this type of singer was still quite dominant in Gluck's era though they were probably in decline but still held out as late as the early 1800's.

Oriiginally it belongs to the 1962 LP Berganza Sings Airs of the 18th Century. I do not know what do you pretend to imply by talking of other mezzos. here it is only question to admire the unfailing musicianship, the beautiy and purity of the tone, the etheral quality of the delivery. One of the most wonderful things ever recorded.

    ancora meno.
    cosa è allora?
    è una voce ibrida,mediocre.
