Yeah, we call them "masters of the background". The cameraman made a mistake - should have taken a different angle or ask the musician to move a little to ensure clear background in the frame.

As someone who has worked behind the scenes on the camera before, you can't control situations like that. The camera is stationary. All communication is happening with the media team and not the audience or musicians. The camera was set up before the performer went on and also during rehearsals. The camera person was also focused on the singer and not the petit orchestra. That was the perfect angel. What you're asking for is post-production work or different takes of the same scene. You can't do that during a live performance.
She is singing like an angel...with a corset?! I don't see how anyone can get proper breath support wearing that. So bravo to her!
My reaction exactly! It seems impossible for a singer to function with her ribs and diaphragm so compressed. I feel de-oxygenated just looking at her.
@@brendabixter3055 I actually always found it quite nice! As long as you don't tight lace it and wear it as intended (for support and shape), it actually gives you really nice resistance to "push" against. It can help engage the breathing!
@@marystombaugh2282 Very interesting to hear that. I don't like to wear anything restricting when I sing, though I can see from what you say that the tightness of the lacing would be key.
The corset helps. When you sing you brace like when you lift a heavy weight. Have you seen weightlifters wearing belts? It’s there to increase intra abdominal pressure. Also her corset isn’t tight laced. It’s just at a comfortable tightness.

I don't know anything about opera and this kind of singing. I don't know the origin of this specific verse, I've heard it in a movie for the first time. But since I heard it, it gives me a feeling of peace and clarity. Huge respect to the singer, she gave me goose bumps!

I am going to sing this but to be honest its not my favorite at all I think its overall missing something but I dont judge anyone's taste. And this performance is amazing!

Not "light", please! Do justice to her beautiful rounded timbre and her ability to sing low notes with such resonance and warmth. You are probably (and happily) to young to remember Emma Kirkby and her clones that plagued early music's revival until the 90' singing everything, from Dido's Lament to Bach's Passions with an ever smiling and girlish straight tone somewhere between a boy soprano and an English high voiced folk singer - and an emotional and expressive range to match... In those days, a marvelous tone and style like Lezhneva's or Kozena's would have seemed "too operatic" for .... Handel operas!!!
Fortunately, now they are "allowed" to sing what they should and the public doesn't have to put up with the limitations of that "always sing like an English cathedral chorister", "the brighter and lighter the better" fashion, but in the old bad days, I and my generation had to!
Nothing like "light". She has a rich warm mature tone, perhaps even sitting too heavily on some notes.
