My family (9 in all) biscuits are made similarly, but with cold coconut oil. I chip the chunks of coconut oil into the flour with my pastry blender, then moisten with buttermilk. BARELY STIRRING with a butter knife to scrape the taller bowl's sides with. *Over kneading makes them tough. I roll them out almost 1" thick, then cut them with any sized drinking glass I choose. (Whatever is handy, usually.) The sweetness of the coconut oil lends beautifuly to these buttermilk biscuits. We utilize homemade plum or apricot jams with loads of sweet, creamed butter.

So What is your thoughts or opinion?
I've read not to twist your cutter b/c that will seal the edges some. I've started just cutting my biscuits in squares, then I don't have to deal with the scraps after cutting with a round cutter.

In the end of the 40day and 40 nights you have learned how to work with what you gave up and learn how to "really" think outside the box. Also I'm really happy that I found this man (John Kanell); he uses *real ingredients* but also teaches you how to use them and the why/purpose. It's one thing to indulge but it's another to enjoy what is in front of you. 😉 . .Oh! these BISCUITS are AMAZING! 🤩

Be sure NOT to twist your cutter!!! Twisting seals the sides. You need some homemade jam to go with these & the butter. YUM!

Also, make sure to keep the dough cold during the process. So after every few folds, put it back in the fridge to keep the butter cold
