Kendrick in his head: "lol these guys have no idea im singing about vaginas"
I think it was on obvious after "interior pink"
I think it's obvious in the chorus when it says I love it when I'm in It
Rapping about Vaginas, The walls of a jailhouse and the walls of your own mind
@@jaykera bro these Ellen D fans have no clue
also about jail!
That crowd lucky AF they got that TPAB CD for free
THIS DICK AINT FREEEE
this disk ain't free
HeyItsDavid only problem is the majority of them are middle aged women... doubt many middle aged women actively listen to kendrick lamar
a CD? LOL
Average Shit Poster I would hope u would be able to buy a copy...
3:36 I love how he just belts out the chorus, it doesn’t even seemed planned, he is just so in the zone that he couldn’t stop. I think it’s moments like this that really separate Kendrick from other rappers.
For sure bro he gets so into he's like Ima do it myself fuck it
Kendrick said he approaches live performances the same way he does the studio. He’s 110% no matter how or where he performs any music
ODB vibes
He's an amazing artist live
It’s called Demonic Possession. Making a song about sex is dangerous. We love you Kendrick but my kids are watching. 😡. Adam Ben Yahweh is Praying for you
Bilal, Anna Wise and Thundercat dont get enough credit for this amazing, never-aging album man
Fr
And Kamasi Washington on sax tho
@@josealvarezvega802 lot of the sax you hear on the album is terrace Martin but yeah kamasi is amazing
@@mookdrums they’re both so great
It's 'cause a lot of people don't even know the work they did on this album
" the incredible kendrick lamar" damn right ellen
hafizul Faizal don't you mean DAMN right
Joe Murray you mean DAMN. right
Don't you mean "DAMN, Alright"?
She rarely says that shit too lol
Guys i don’t think he meant DAMN. 😔
The song is a revenge song. In Kendricks Song "sing about me" his friend is killed. In this song he gets revenge by having sex with the killers girl. The first two verses are about having sex with her, and how she uses the sex to get over the pain of her lover being in prison for life. Kendrick uses his influence as a famous rapper to lay with her. In the 3rd verve he talks about prison walls. And it's revealed the woman is the baby daddy of the killer. And how much she misses him in prison. Until Kendrick comes back around to comfort her.
Deep. thanks, didn't know that.
his brother gets killed, not his friend fham
No it was his friend's brother
So the woman is the baby daddy of the killer? That didn't come out right lol
Justin Duverge yeah, i took an L. I didn't realize he was rapping from the perspective of his friend until recently.
Kendrick just became one with the music
Christiantolsoe Yesss... How do you get ingulfed so deep like that?...
J Smooth because the lyrics he wrote for that song mean something to him or have some meaning
Ive been listening to this album for about a year and a half. today when i was listening to this song on spotify i learned that the song is actually about him sleeping with a woman, who is an ex lover to a man who killed his best friend years ago. The man is serving life in prison. The first verse is about him sleeping with the ex lover, then the verse where he gets so engulfed, is him expressing how he was fucking the chick out of revenge. In the last verse theres a part where he is saying that he hopes the guy that killed his friend listens to this song and the song "sing about me" from GKMD. (which the first verse in "sing about me", is about his friend that was killed, told from the deceased older brothers perspective.) i love this song even more after learning this.
@@kobe_won_shinobi only reason I got it was cause I listen to Kendrick slow songs on repeat to sleep also. Jcole and well just lyrical songs that tell a story
Christiantolsoe true that
The way he performs that last verse, you could tell Kendrick was actually talking to the guy the song is about. Speaks volume about who kendrick is to put his soul into this performance like that knowing how many people would see it
This better than the actual song
FACTS!! came here for this comment!
I like the fact she didnt call him out on just being a Rapper but an artist and poet 👍🏻
Spitfire Brenda I wish you didn't have to be Kendrick Lamar or J. Cole to be recognized as such
She does it too be respectful
But rappers are poets and artists
Spitfire Brenda yea
@@exchange8694its true though
i love how he makes rapping about vaginas so acceptable
It's talent my brother
+Marcus Spiva search county music singing about rape lol...you'd be amazing what white be think is acceptable music. theres more filth in country music its just not as melodic
+Marcus Spiva makes sense now that u mentioned it lol
+Marcus Spiva he's using the vagina as a metaphor for isolation
it's normally not acceptable?
The audience all went home and started listening to it...then stopped at Hood Politics 💀

holy shit
It's really gettin gory, tell your problem to Maury.
My words and my regrets are the only ones for me
Never thought I would hear a Viktor Vaughn (MF DOOM) reference in these comments 😂
I love how the entire song is a triple entendre
😱
Right lol
Chris B you the real gem m8
how?
Ellie Amissah "these walls" represents his mind that he's trapped in, a vagina, and jail.
Real Music. This is King Kendrick.
King Kendrick and I meant it my point intended is raw, fix your lenses forensics would have told you Kendrick had killed it
Pretend it's a massacre, and masses upon us
And I mastered being the master at dodging your honor
And the chapter that read at 25 I would live dormant like five in the morning
David Rowe and they raid your spot while kendrick's performing
I love how passionate he sounds at the last verse like when it's just him. His words are hypnotizing
well when its the one big chance you have to show the man in prison all his hard work and hatred, i would get lost too
Man I’m so honored to grow up in a generation where artists like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole exist. Everyone calls this generation trash but in reality there are a lot of great artists.
@iii iii Is it lonely up there on your pedestal?
And Young Thug
@iii iii ye I fuck with cole enough to know he’s no where near Kendrick
cole is nowhere near kendrick’s level
hes not rapping and hes not singing. he fucking talking straight to us
+Jessica Jones I think he means that as a good thing....
haha ya i do hes telling a story not just singing about random ass booty and money
+Joey the OG Rap literally means Rhythm And Poetry soooo....

Kendrick left his soul on that stage.. amazing performance
As a kid I only liked Kendrick for his songs like “Swimming pools” for the beat and feel good vibes but now that I’m an adult I appreciate how this man can combine such literacy and culture into real world problems that you can listen to in almost any mood. Truly deserved the Pulitzer what a Legend

I'm an older white dude. My favorite band, Bent Knee, told me that they loved To Pimp a Butterfly by Kendrick. It's become my favorite album. It's so transcendent to me.
Last verse is one of the greatest ever and whole song is just a pure poetry
so dope he got the painter doing his thing on the side
Hell yeah
that audience had no idea what just happened. love it Kendrick, keep them coming
was at least expecting them to applaud after he talked about being a positive influence, nobody else as humble and inspiring and k.dot.
you look like patrick swayze! how about you dance dirty for me!
+AirwavesHD I would like to see red tube porno videos
Can’t blame them as a die hard Kendrick fan it takes a few listens to understand what’s happening
7 years on and I still get massive goosebumps every time. The man is a genius
Best live performance ever on TV.
Some people don't get that the last verse was a message to the person that killed Dave, from Swimming Pools (GKMC).
I'm pretty sure it's a message to the guy who killed his friend in the first verse of "sing about me"
Chaosilator That is what i was thinking also.. Then again weren't both songs they were about the same person
Chaosilator That's the same person. Dave dies at the end of "Swimming Pools" and the song "Sing about me" plays.
Dave? Im pretty sure his name was Derek. It was bleeped out everytime they said it but it was Derek im almost positive
Keller Chavez sound like they were saying "Day Day" which would make sense if his name was Dave. Plus Kendrick has mentioned a Dave multiple times on songs
Kendrick IS the Tupac of our generation!!
***** he certainly is a bit less self destructive certainly.
***** kendrick can change the world
Simply Amazing
Stop putting people on a pedestal, man. Anyone can change the world.
Y-G-J that's my point anyone can change the world so kendrick can too
Simply Amazing
You made it seem like Kendrick is, somehow, the savior of this world.
This is better than the album version. I love how hard he sends the end it’s so good
I actually love the more manic delivery and upbeat ending of the song he had here than on the album version
i used to not like kendrick cause i never found interest in him but after listening to TPAB a couple times, it finally hit me why everyone praises him. He's gradually grown to be one of my fav rappers, he's an absolute genuis
i don't really listen to much rap, but tpab, is one of my favorite albums, gkmc and damn, are pretty great too.

One cannot simply listen to the GOAT album first try and understand, this is what all your music and especially rap journey and taste allows you to finally understand and enjoy and value. -December 31, 2019 anyone ?
DJE Gamer my b im late but covy_marichee
Yessuh 2020 been a fan since TPAB
@Jefgdx Jxbyf I listened to it my sophomore year in hs and didn’t really get it but the second listen was so much better
the chicago steppers really made this whole performance that much more elevated
There are few meanings I draw from this song off of TPAB:
-walls of vag
-prison walls
-maad city walls (compton)
-walls of cocoon
+R Quintez i noticed that at some live performances he'd point to his mouth when he sings "i resonate in these walls" so.. .. yeah.
-mouth/mind
Yeah and even the walls of the vagina go deeper (pun intented) than just sex. I believe it to be symbolism for addiction, temptation, self hate, and the escape.
The whole song describes Kendrick fucking the girl of a guy who killed his boy as retaliation ("killed my homeboy and God spared your life"). The first verse is about sex, and he later says in the song "so when you play the song rewind the first verse, about me abusing my power so you can hurt. About me and her in the shower whenever she horny...about the only girl cared about you when you asked her, and how she fucking on a famous rapper" It's really fucking genius.
+Mr A yup that's what the song is about, he's talking about the guy that killed his BestFriend
+The Great Shredman Agreed :]
Ellen never had nothing this real on her show 👏🏾
you are so right!!!
then again, he really is exceptional.
To Pimp A Butterfly, is honestly, one of, if not thee greatest album of all time, not just rap, not just jazz, this is simply just one of the greatest compositions you'll ever hear. Got me crying and shi.
I agree 100% with this comment! ❤
this is still one of my favourite performances by any artist. this felt more like passionate spoken word poetry than a rapper singing his song. amazing
He really is the best.

holy moly i never heard dot straight up sing like that, that was beautiful, so soulful, i would love to see more of that out of him
So when you play the song rewind the first verse
About me abusing my power so you can hurt
About me and her in the shower whenever she horny
About me and her in the after hour of the morning
About her baby daddy that's currently serving life
And how she think about you until we meet up at night
About the only girl that care when you asked her
And how she fucking with a famous rapper
Walls can talk
That section of his verse kind of summarizes the three different stories and meanings he is trying to tell through this one song. He is a genius.
Wow I never thought of it like that...

thats King Kendrick for you.
Mixed Topic Rap
So true, so very true. I admit i love rocking this at night still ,when my upstairs neighbors act like they the only ones,,,, feel me!!
This performance alone > Views from the 6
+Isorozco511 no shit its kedrick lamar lol drake can't touch kendrick
+Mike Gilmore facts
Drakes an overrated rapper. His shit hardly been real rap lately either. It's pop music. It's trash
Merle Dixon i think some songs are good, just don't hype him up to be the god, because he's nowhere near that. As long as people keep him as a pop star, I'm ok with that, but not a legend rapper
Well whether you like it or not drake was the top rapper for a long while.
ooooo bro I can’t even describe how good of a song These Walls is 😭
I love the “YES” at the end
To anyone that isn't familiar with Kendrick Lamar or TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY, here's the best way I can attempt to put it in words:
It's brutally honest about a number of real-world issues (e.g. the rise and fall of African-American culture, depression, religion, materialism, etc.) and those issues are brought to life over a groovy mix of rap, jazz, funk, and R&B melodies. If you want to experience music that has equal substance and style, this one's for you.
Hope this helps! Thanks for reading!
the depression songs like "u" always touch my soul! Kendrick is a legend!
You could probably link the importance of jazz and it’s history with racism to the problems addressed in the album
thundercat with the guitar is amazing

Look at him soooo humble , sweet ,down to earth man.

Third verse of this song is so cold. When I first heard it I was like "damn, Kendrick is a savage".

To Pimp A Butterfly
“The caterpillar is a prisoner to the streets that conceived it
Its only job is to eat or consume everything around it, in order to protect itself from this mad city
While consuming its environment the caterpillar begins to notice ways to survive
One thing it noticed is how much the world shuns him, but praises the butterfly
The butterfly represents the talent, the thoughtfulness, and the beauty within the caterpillar
But having a harsh outlook on life the caterpillar sees the butterfly as weak and figures out a way to pimp it to his own benefits
Already surrounded by this mad city the caterpillar goes to work on the cocoon which institutionalizes him
He can no longer see past his own thoughts
He’s trapped
When trapped inside these walls certain ideas take roots, such as going home, and bringing back new concepts to this mad city
The result?
Wings begin to emerge, breaking the cycle of feeling stagnant
Finally free, the butterfly sheds light on situations that the caterpillar never considered, ending the internal struggle
Although the butterfly and caterpillar are completely different, they are one and the same."
First time I heard this I was honestly speechless for half an hour
This is poetry

They probably see the cover and throw that shit in the trash can
***** The album's not directed to white people, but they can still get something out of it. I don't know why people think that this album is only for 1 color.
UbahGames its just that they can't relate as well as black people can.
chillhomie7 I'm white as hell but I can relate to it in many ways.
UbahGames Might I ask how? because you don't have to deal with complexion issues, you aren't being treated like you're worthless based on your skin, you aren't being called racial slurs on a regular basis, you don't have to deal with police brutality, you don't have to deal with racial profiling, you probably have a father and you probably don't know that many incarcerated people. Plus i doubt your dealing with the problems that come fame. I'm sure theres many other things you took from the album but i can't imagine it being as good without the relatablity aspect, the subject matter might even be uncomfortable.

King Kendrick, I feel so blessed to witness this man's career as it happens.
My man literally mentions Compton in every other bar he spits and Ellen be like, "I'm such a fan... You're from Compton, right?" BRUH...
+Rafael Campos Sometimes people say weird things when they don't feel comfortable talking about a topic. Ellen knows that she's not part of the crowd and she knows her audience is worse off. She's trying not to say something stupid, which is admirable.
^^^^what he said
Ellen is a huge music fan. Her question wasn’t for her own sake, it was for the audience who doesn’t have a clue who Kendrick Lamar is. She knows lyrics to music you would never expect which is one of the reasons I love her and she is so humble. She does a lot, for a lot of people and foundations.
