Czechia showed a real masterpiece on the first period, if they play like that the rest of tournament surely they are the medal contenders!
Wouldn't give much hopes on Latvia reaching the playoff stage this year. It is a completely new squad.
We didn't deserve to win but the referees fucked us, how did we get 2 mins when our player was protecting our goalie? Elbows to the face were ignored, tripping wasn't called

There is kinda good chance because Czechs has to play agains USA and Finland and Latvia has lef 6 very important points and if they win Sweden and Czech doesnt win USA and Finland Then its high probability that Latvia will go through, but I will give only 20% chance of this scenario.

1st period didn't go quite well as expected for Latvia but Czech came prepared for this game, and Latvian boys were having way too many days without games, which means they had to warm up during this game. Well played and good luck for Czech Republic on their next game!

very disappointed in my team, everyone was just sleeping.
The only thing I don't like about our (Czech) performance today was backing off after the stormy first period. I very much prefer "take no prisoners" approach, it's better for the eye.
It wouldn't make sense to continue applying such immense pressure when you need to conserve your strength for the rest of the tournament!
What the other guy said is true. There’s no point trying to score as much goals as possible when you know you already are going to win. They are humans, not robots, they wanted to save up energy for the next match. If they went full in in this match they may have a weaker performance the next match.
Recovery is not a problem, hockey players are used to play 2 games in 2 days, it's normal. NHL playoffs prime example - you have to go 100% all the time. It's hard but possible. What matters more is the team performance. It's not that easy to constantly change the pace. What is much better is play every game in high tempo, get confident - it also helps with recovery after you did well in the game. Czech hockey team has long-term problems with switching it up when needed. That's why I say I'd rather have them play the 2nd and 3rd period in reasonable pace, not 30%, not 100%, just reasonable (90%).

Za mě je to dobře. Mrzí mě, že to nikdo nedokázal lidem pořádně vysvětlit, když se to zavádělo.. Czechia je jednoslovný název, jako my říkáme Česko tak v aj je to czechia. Všechny státy na turnaji používají jednoslovný názvy. Víc divný bylo pořád používat politický název.. Žádná jiná Evropská země si nenechává říkat politickým názvem. Maximálně nějaký země v Africe.. Máme dlouhou historii a nemyslím si, že musíme bazírovat na slově republika..

Latvians honestly just can't handle the puck for some reason. They always fall down, miss shots, fail to pass each other, very slow and nervous in power play. And it's like that for years, no idea what's going on.
