We are a small country with less than 2 million people plus we have good players and will continue to produce but Latvian players at times just don't feel motivated enough because there are no big sponsors and money wise it isn't great either and I get it yh sure we beat a strong team but at the end of the day we are all HUMANS it's not Fifa where you have the highest ovr players against lowest where of course the higher ove team wins in real life anything can happen just like when Saudi Arabia beat Argentina

yeah you deserved it way more. in my opinion we slept on it we were totally awful compared to how much better we could play and just like shouldve already happened in regular time we lost. Lucky to get a point tbh.

Yeah they deserved it. Thing is we slept we didn't play as good as we can at all. That played a big part, so did the fact they put so much more energy and determination into it. We looked like we played a friendly match the first start of the game instead of a world championship. I'm frankly embarrassed with the national team at this point.
Yeah! Altho, the coach of Latvia said that there are a lot of micro injuries after a game like that. A lot of blocked shots, scraps and checks, lets hope their on their top form so we can have a good game! See you Wednesday and good luck to you Norway!

I mean as a Latvian, i agree should've won in regulation, because the dragging out to OT gave me 3 panic attacks, but regardless this win did show that finally we bounced back from the last two games. We have to continue to play like this

As a Slovak I'm happy Latvia got 2 points from this game. Not because they palyed against Czechia. I want us Slovakia, Czechia and Latvia to qualify to the playoffs. I hope Swiss finishes 5th in the group - no hard feelings Switzerland but come on latvia are always an underdog and deserve to have a playoff when at home.

Major congratulations to the Latvian men's hockey team. Beating a team like Czechia, a team with many legitimate current and former NHL players, shows that the nation of Latvia is getting closer to becoming a fixture in international hockey. And it all started with their junior team, which has been in the top junior division for two consecutive years (and avoided relegation this year so they'll make it 3 in a row in December), and also their U18 team, which has been in the top division since the 2019 tournament (though there's a cancelled year and 2 non-relegation years in there, so they benefited from that, and also the expulsion of Russia and Belarus from the IIHF international play), and will be again in 2024, making the quarterfinals just last month in the 2023 tournament. It goes to show you that ground-up development is a long process, but it pays dividends.

I am so happy for Latvia.
Im a big fans of the Czechs as well and a fan of international hockey as a whole, but just very happy for the co hosts to win at home in such a historic fashion.
Always sucks to be the losing end of a historic moment, but the reason its so historic is because the Czechs are so good year on year so nothing to feel shame over on that side either.
Again huge congrats to Latvia and hopefully the hockey there only continues to grow so the game can expand out of the "big six". Germany and Switzerland already pushing for spots as well as Slovakia for years and years, so the big six is already a little outdated, and hoping eventually countries like Latvia make the group much larger.

Referees were slightly on Czechia's side but overly both teams showed similar performance. If Latvia didn't get those 3 points in regular time, they got 2 in Overtime. Great job Latvia and Czechia for your power on ice.
What do you think about the hands on puck in the goal area ? Wouldnt say referees were on Czechias side, but latvians deserved to win because of the effort they put in.
@@stanislavsusko127 There was no "picking up the puck" or "holding it", it was just smacked out of the way and that is a perfectly legal move as far as I know.

Man, what a day, funnily, i told to my Canadian friend, that "that day might not come anytime soon" after 2 first games we had....but lo' and behold, i was proven wrong and i finally witnessed my homeland beating one team we never ever beaten since being promoted to Elites in 1997.
