      As someone who played hockey all there life, the ufc or any form of combat sport is the most interesting in terms anything can happen. Everyone knows Canada is the best in the world at hockey. Grew up near Whitby. Watched every big moment (golden goal, Eberle, Sochi, Mcdavid 2015 team etc) But why other leagues like nba mlb nfl ufc soccer are way more popular is because the best players in the world and the sports in general are people of all cultures and skin tones. You have all types of people who went through different hardships to get to where they are. For example lebron He grew up without a dad in the ghettos of Akron. Mom had him when he was 18 and worked 2 jobs. Even if he wanted to choose hockey it’s waaaay to expensive to play it. I know first hand how much money it costs (on and off ice training, power skating, gym, tournaments, regular season, new skates, twig, new gloves etc. ) majority of the best people in hockey present and past have always had the means to get the best growing up, in terms of being able to even afford AAA puck. Which in ur draft year is almost like 10k! Other sports you do not need the same equipment and environment to get better at ur craft. All you need is a hoop for basketball, open grass for football, just a gym for ufc, a good field to hit dingers…You can weight train and shoot pucks on ur driveway all u want, but unless your getting on the ice 5 times a week which is at least 350$ just for the ice, ur not gonna be on the level as someone who’s playing On a bad AAA just because they have the money to pay for it. It’s really not attainable for a lot of people around the world. There’s nothing wrong with hockey. I only made this comment because I hope it becomes more global and less expensive. I love the feeling of a close 1-1 game heading into overtime. Physical, skill, big crowds the bunny’s watching 😂I’m proud of the boys and they obviously worked very hard to get to where they are. however the reason nhl will never ever be the greatest sport in the world is it’s just not attainable for people they’re doing a lot better job to make the game global but they gotta lower the overall cost of puck that means sorry I rambled but all my hockey boys say hockey is the best and while a fun intense sport not the greatest not even close.

      Man, that was painful. Not a Finland fan but i could almost feel their heartbreak. You heard the term 'hockey is a game of inches' but this was worse - that puck was MILLIMETRES away from crossing the goal line. Can't imagine being so close you could almost taste it (watch the closest Finnish player to the puck, he was halfway raising his arms in celebration) to getting it snatched away in that fashion. Man, i feel for those kids from Finland.
      But to help ease your pain, let's all watch Finland's last golden goal at this tournament. I could still replay it in my head: Kasperi Kapanen's solo effort deke beauty to beat Russia for the gold medal 😍

      You're not wrong, but I do think Dylan Garand shoulders some of the blame. He saved the 3 on 1, and could've frozen the puck for a face-off. Sure, there's no way that he could've known McTavish would have lost and edge (or been tripped; it's hard to tell, McTavish clearly believes it was a trip - I'm on the fence) behind the net, and I recognize that 3 on 3 OT is frequently won on counterattacks, but if you're not 100% sure of the defensive position your team is in, you hold on to that puck like your life depends on it.
      On a related note, had McTavish failed to keep the puck out of the net there, what would everyone (fans and the media) be focusing on right now? Indisputably, we'd all be talking about McTavish falling down, and whether or not he was actually tripped...and THAT would've been a real crap storm. People would be asking if the 7 to 1 disparity in powerplays contributed to the referee not calling the trip, or whether the fact that a 4 on 3 powerplay being awarded in OT virtually guarantees that the penalized team gets scored upon caused the referee to ignore the infraction lest HE decide the gold medal winner (this is a sentiment I've always taken issue with - if you commit an infraction, get a minor penalty, and your opponent scores, YOU decided the result of the game, not the referee). Things would've been *so bloody messy* if that shot had gone in the Canadian net. There would be whining and calls for rule changes, and the whole thing would've cast a massive shadow on this WJC. So not only were we given this gift of the most dramatic ending to a World Juniors gold medal game in a decade or more (perhaps in the history of gold medal games at this tournament), we were spared all of the debate and complaining that the alternate ending would've entailed.

    As a Columbus fan and full season ticket holder, I feel we have an exciting future with the likes of Johnson, Jiricek, Mateychuk, Sillinger, Laine and Gaudreau among others. Proper credit to Jarmo for taking a team in complete disarray and rebuilding it overnight. 15 months ago everyone thought he should do what Chicago and Arizona are doing a tear the team down to the dirt and start over. As for this game itself, in a game of this magnitude, there are no losers, but only one winner. Incredible effort on the part of both sides.

      @bajikimran2304 Рік тому +1

      @@RockerFinland I think Jarmo is a genius. He not only has a great business mind, but also comes from a scouting background. I remember being at the final game of the 2021 season and thinking to myself that the team was a mess and probably headed for a 5 to 7 year rebuild. The four sportswriters who cover the Blue Jackets were calling for a complete teardown and rebuild and it certainly looked like that would be the case when they dumped Nick Foligno, David Savard and Riley Nash. Jarmo wound up with two #1 draft picks by moving Foligno and Savard, then got a #6 pick for Nash who was injured and only played in two games for Toronto. Brilliant!
      The next big move came after Seth Jones decided he did not want to stay with the team. Jarmo traded Jones at the highest point of his value and the return allowed him to acquire Cole Sillinger,, Adam Boqvist, Jake Bean, Corson Cuelmans, David Jiricek, Denton Mateychuk and extend Zach Werenski. He also made brilliant trades when he traded Pierre Luc DuBois for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic, then Cam Atkinson for Jakub Voracek. In 15 months he has completely reshaped this team and made it a force to be reckoned with in the future. If Columbus ownership is smart, they will pay Jarmo whatever he wants to stay and eventually take over the presidency of this team. You don't want someone as smart as Jarmo working for the competition.

    Much respect to the Fins, they played their hearts out. But this is *our* game. The best way I can describe it as a Canadian is it has always felt like we don't play to win... rather that we're playing for something we already own and don't want to lose it. Every major tournament, every one across this country feels the same, and every player wearing that jersey knows the expectation. 2nd place would be failure absolute. Gold is the expectation, every time. It's our game, and every tournament is our chance to stamp it. If you know, you know. Congrats boys. Mission accomplished.
