The Axe Special feels so... lackluster in just looks. Maybe they could make it boomerang around in an arc than overhead. But it also just seems like why would you even bother
the problem is that Axe dash attack and Axe special is like same attack. i think they should make a hammer that increases hit count by 3x but decreases damage of axe special by -50%. this would make axe able to use poseidon, scorch and static shock. currently all hit-on on axe is are pretty bad and than spin to win is suppose to be focused on building raw damage with critical chance modifier but it has no base damage for crit modifier. the slashes come out way too slow, the radius of spin is too low because your m/s is greatly slowed so you need stand next to an enemy that can easily kill you so you can't use it safely. i also think they should improve that keepsake which gives 30% omega time for 350 seconds, just make it permanent for the run. it would be good keepsake for Axe or other aspect that want to focus on omegas.
The special is a cancel option for the combo, letting you chain three piece combos without using the big overhead swing at the end, and instead end it with the special for faster attack strings. There's also the armor breaker hammer that turns the special into a one button armor breaker. It breaks all armor no matter what on a single use. It's also great for applying status now. Although siege shredder is weird and that buff would be cool, making it horizontal.
Last night I think I stumbled on the ultimate tank build. The Hera x Heph Duo plus fixed gain. The duo cuts splits damage to your mana bar, and Fixed gian means as you take damage you get mana. Just stood next to bosses with a weak powered staff and chipped away while health bareley went down most of the time. It could probably be even more tanky if I knew what I was doing.
At the end of the video you mentioned doing a Geyser Spout build with Mental Block. While geyser spout builds are very fun, you should know that that particular interaction doesn't work as you're hoping. Mental Block has a hidden cooldown on the deflect that lasts about as long as a cast normally does, so if you find a way to cast more frequently than that (geyser spout, charon axe) then some of your casts just wont give you deflect.
Athena is pretty much guaranteed in the City of Ephyra, Erebus, Oceanus, and Tartarus if you wear her keepsake. The Fields, Rift and Mount Olympus seem to be broken though
If you look when he does an o-cast after getting Hazard Boom (Eris fight), the Hazard Boom stays after the o-cast blows up, and then places a SECOND Hazard Boom when the cast is placed again. As such, if you got Lightning Lance, Geiser Spout and Hazard Boom (and Mel Staff for faster channel) you could be a Hazard Carpet Bomber :) Edit: he mentioned this 10 seconds after I wrote my comment. Another idea in the vein of what you mentioned about throwing it out. What about something similar to chronos’ throw attack? That sort ranged arc? Maybe make it so mel can ‘outrun’ it as it comes back so it gets more airtime? would maybe synergise well with sprint boons and make zeus, poon and heph sprint more fun to go for in a regular run?
@ yeah totally. Or aspect of Zeus from h1 a bit i guess, but more proactive, maybe it doesnt return to you while sprinting and follows close behind instead? explosive return hammer could come back too.
The only small ick i have with some of the weapons in hades 2 is how it feels like you have to either commit to your attacks or your specials In hades 1 for example the sword felt incredibly smooth between the attack the dash attack and the special slam, i havent had that kind of feeling with any of the hades 2 weapon, besides the new coat wich is kind of aiming in the right direction
I think that mainly applies to the sword, fists and the rail. Bow, Shield and the Spear all have specials that I barely use except to maybe apply curses. Also, the cast is way smoother in Hades 2 and switching between standard/omega attacks feels pretty good most of the time.
tbh I think that’s because omegas provide so many more options that you simply can’t end up using them all. Rather than just Attack and Special (cast was kind of independent outside of a few aspects), you have attack, omega attack, special, omega special, cast, omega cast, and it just isn’t efficient to dedicate resources to effectively using every single one of those all at once
The thing with the Hermes speed balancing is that to me, even if it is in fact faster after you upgraded from 10 to 25%, the fact that you can’t distinctly feel the difference when you go from a common to heroic (even if it is actually faster) just feels like a bad vial target. Could also be a property of the axe special itself, like an input delay.
The hitbox for siege shredder is the empty space circle in the center. Just noticed it while watching. Boomerang special sounds cool though, would be great if it mimicked the shield.
I wonder if nimble limbs only affects the recovery time between attacks. It does seem like the attacks / second got faster, but the animation (which is long, so % change should have a large affect) doesn't seem to have changed. if that's the case, the affect of the whole boon would always seem really minimal because recovery time in hades tends to be pretty low.
Hey Haelian, did you know the "glorious disaster" duo boon charges up the crit meter on aspect of Than? Super fast too btw. Figured it out on a recent run
i looked at flavor text. i am 99% certain that this is a bug because it says on thana that every strike charges mortality. it implies that it has to be direct hit and when you try to use other non-direct hits sources like Heph blast. it doesn't boost crit even though it is technically a strike with attack or special. this is true for other things like blitz, Poseidon's attack etc. etc. likely you might see this *exploit* get fixed. i did a run with glorius disaster axe and i rolled both psychic whirlwind and furious whirlwind. crazy good with critical hit chance with current exploit and death card. At very end, i got exceptional talent which destroy prom boss.
I wish the special multi hit actually counted as multi hit. With Than Axe, I only got like 1 pip per special attack. So making it register as multihit would be fun.
It does register as multi hit. Had a built going yesterday that every time I used it the Zeus thing when you prime your mana to get zaps on every attack proceed it multiple times.

I feel like the axe doesn't behave as it should be...I don't know, it feels...stuck? Like I know it is a heavy weapon, but even with heavy weapon in Hades 1 you still have maneuver over it. Here it just sort of...have to finish the animation kinda thing
I take pills most of the times "raw", only the pill, no water, if the pill is big, then I put the pill in the mouth first, then I drink water I am used to it as I take around 7 pills a day, and it is like this (or maybe even worse as I already took more) for like almost 14 consecutive years right now, so it is not that hard for me
if you want to get the "maximum effect" of the pill you need to: avoid putting it into foods cutting it or mixing it and even taking with water or any liquid, as it can mess up the pill while it isn't fully absorbed by your stomach (preferably take it with empty stomach, but as not the first thing of the day) for things like antibiotics and even contraceptive pill these things have even more value, bc u need these kind of pill to get their effects really done
i think it's purpose is to weave in with Zeus special or Heph blast. i tried multiple different types of builds with new axe hammers for like 20 games. The best build to run on axe right now is blast build. you want to run hestia, appolo and heph. try to get purple or heroic special, put appolo on your cast, put hestia on attack to kill blue shields and than just attempt to get chain reaction for 800 damage special procs and appolo's daze which will make it 1200 damage procs. it's by far highest dps that axe can do right now. if your lucky to get Aphrodite as your 4th god, putting passion dash for weaken has good synergy with fire axe attack since you can get burning desires for extra dps. I think axe and skull right now are 2 worst weapons in the game. both of these weapons have terrible dps output, don't scale with boons and rely on channeling omega moves in which slow timer arcana card greatly hurts them. as a result, both of weapons right now are Heph blast or Zeus oriented since it's only real way to do any damage with them. play anything else and you get destroyed past 24 fear.

While charon was somewhat nerfed with the change to sorceress, it simply means it’s not as free as it was before, but it still has high reward for the risk involved. Thanatos is simple and straightforward damage. With Hera or Aphro on the attack, the room clear is insane. The percent on these attacks too is way more valuable than the added damage of Zeus and heph cause of the axe’s high base damage. Any of the attack hammers make it great at bossing too. Mel axe is kinda meh, but I wouldn’t call it weak. While the special change sucked, it really didn’t change the strength of the axe, which has always been a decently strong option. I also don’t think skull is one of the weaker ones. A complaint I’d understand is the gameplay being awkward with picking up the skulls and dashing into enemies, but it by no means lacks damage. Medea , similarly to Charon, is a high risk high reward weapon. It benefits from all the percentage attack boons due to its high base damage. It has good aoe which means good room clear, and it’s high damage shreds bosses, although you have to pay more attention to attack patterns to ensure you don’t just dash into an attack. Persephone is another one I’d say is more awkward than weak. The special gives you invulnerability and does great base damage(works well with percentage special boons). Mel skull is just meh, not weak but not insanely strong. You can check out speedrun to see how strong these weapons are

Axe is heavy slower. Dagger is fast but upclose skull is the gun type - not great
