- How did F1 drivers bypass chaos in the streets in Las Vegas?
What a fantastic event the 2023 Las Vegas GP was and if you've been a fan of mine for a while you'll know that it is time now to take a look at hoe the F1 drivers get to the track here in Las Vegas. This is particularly exciting because it is the first Las Vegas GP to be held on the Las Vegas street circuit so working out how the F1 drivers got to the track and what what roadcars F1 drivers drove to the track was new to me as well.
Did the drivers ride in fancy limos, supercars, hypercars or normal everyday cars? Well it's time to find out what the F1 drivers drove to the Las Vegas GP!

Mercedes marketing did a lot of work for Vegas. Kudos to them for the effort and outcome, it was amazing
They had AMG ads on at least the Caesars Palace marquee sign potentially more all weekend
kinda puts Toto's over defensiveness of the GP into perspective
US mostly calls them license plates, tags are the little registration stickers with dates you see stuck on the corners.

Based on the replies, it sounds like a regional thing because I agree with you
Ferrari US HQ is in New Jersey so that’s why the plates on Charles and Carlos cars are from there….

1:03 The actual word you are looking for is “License Plates”. Yes, our cars also have “tags”. But those are just super small stickers put in the corners of the license plates themselves.
The Manufacturer supplied cars are typically registered in the state where the companies have their US headquarters. Ferrari is in NJ, M-B is in Georgia etc..
Charles Leclerc stayed at Vdara, and showed up at valet around 4:30am local time on Friday night / Saturday morning. I happened to be standing at valet when he came in, watched him and his girl get out, said hi, then chatted with valet while they drove it to the VIP area. Best of all - they left him a valet card with his name misspelled.

The Ford Lightning only took a week and 200 charging stops to get from Austin to Vegas 😂
Abu Dhabi is looking mint as always mate, Mercedes/IWC event looked like fun. I can’t believe we are already at the last race of the season, going to be an interesting weekend with a handful of teams fighting for those last constructors points. Those Ferrari's are Corporate Vehicles registered at Ferrari HQ in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

Hey Kim, I was a marshal at 17.4 for the race, the left hand kink before the start/finish line. I saw you working with your camera, I tried to get to you to say hello, but you went upstream. Love the the vids. Stay safe.

A tag is sure not a license plate. You put the tag on it so they know youve done this years registration.
That’s where we got to park also. Kym met you on the grid briefly before the national anthem. Love the videos man, keep em coming!

I saw Alex walking from the Signature. He went over the bridge you mentioned. Unfortunately I didn’t catch him in time as I’d never seen him in person and I was busy looking at my phone but there was nobody really around at the time and his route was very secluded and empty. Wish I would’ve recognized him in time for a quick shake of hands and pic. Maybe next year

For an end of the year video suggestion, maybe you could comment on the racing schedule and propose a better one: what cities would you drop/add, and in what order and months. Maybe you could recap the year by putting together a dream race of all the best parts of all the different races in one, as I think you've done before.

Fun fact: my dad has an f-150 lightning and i can tell you that the mesuring marks in the frunk (front trunk) as well as on the tailgate are not there to mesure your fish but your wood for construction!
I caught Liam Lawson on Friday walking along the Horseshoe hotel towards the Flamingo Road Entry. Surprised he was out walking amongst the masses.

Those Ferrari plates are manufacturer plates that aren’t attached to a VIN… they can be put on any non registered car. That said, the Ferrari HQ is located in NJ right outside of NYC, so there’s your answer!
They're generally called License Plates but sometimes tags too.

Happy there's still one more race but this grand prix feels lackluster and lame. Vegas should be the last race of the season with all the glitz & glamour, show & spectacle that is very fitting for a closing ceremony. End the season with a high that would get you excited for the next year. The team could have an awesome end of year party celebrating the whole season without thinking there's another race. On top of that, it seems it would be a great race every year.

Surprised you didn’t touch on the Ineos Grenadier that George Russell was driving. Probably can’t promote a BMW powered vehicle driven by a Mercedes driver even though Ineos is also a Mercedes sponsor.

You’re absolutely right. We all hate the celebs who show up, have no idea why they’re there, and are only interested in self-promotion. It cheapens the whole event and has zero relevance or interest to any F1 fan. How about we stop doing this and start - perhaps - getting real F1 fans this sort of access? Maybe Liberty Media should do what they originally told us they’d do - make it more accessible for the fans. Pick a dozen true F1 fans each race and give them the celeb treatment instead. I guarantee you they’d be far more appreciative than any actual celeb is.

I can't imagine Lewis ever walking anywhere except on a treadmill or if he was on holiday in a country where formula 1 is a non event. Hell, he could have done it in the US 2 years ago. He might still be able to do it in some places there.

oh my, celebrities not going on to the grid, because security aint gettin grid passes. Well, those cars are 99% more worth than any of those celebs :D And the drivers in my eyes are far more inspirational and deserving of money than any of the celebs.
A car just doesnt explode like that after crashing and burn sending flames 30 to 40 feet in the air they also said the car was at a security booth prior to speeding off they also said the car had no license plate and their was nothing left of the car to identify its make or model and all that was left was the motor .?
