How to Listen to Kindle Books on iPhone

In this short video, I show you how to use the Amazon Alexa app on your phone to effectively turn any Kindle book into an audiobook. And you don't need to own an Echo device to use Alexa. All you need is an Amazon account and some Kindle books.

That‘s awesome. Just in case the eBook is not listed in the Alexa library you can use Settings / accessibility / read screen directly in kindle. It’s not that stable (at least on my iPad), but it works and it can turn pages. It even continues reading with a closed device.
Thank you SO MUCH!!! I wish I would have known about being able to manually choose what Kindle book I want read through the Play Menu. I'm on a ventilator, and due to many facial deformities, I do not speak clearly, because of these reasons. Now I can manually select what kindle book I would like read to me, without having to speak. Because speaking to Alexa is never giving me the Kindle book I want.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I am really enjoying Alexa read my book out loud compared to the monotonous TTS option. Another cool feature is, Kindle app can sync with Alexa app and tell me what page Alexa is currently reading.

Thank you so much for this great tip. I have a recently visually impaired family member who missed reading her kindle books and now they can be read to her. The Alexa app was easy to set up, the reading style was more natural than the accessibility voice, and Alexa reads continuously (unlike the accessibility feature which can only read a page at a time). So grateful that I found your video!!

Thank you so much, this is very much appreciated. I am having trouble reading my books, but listening to them is the only thing preventing me from falling asleep or losing focus. However, I found one hiccup, sometimes say in the middle of a chapter, it stops and goes back to the beginning of said chapter, then when I try to skip it where I was, it takes forever or, I'll just have to suffer and relisten where it restarted from.
I encountered the same hiccup. Alexa is superior to the built-in Accessibility voices, but it keeps repeating sections. This pretty much makes it unusable when driving or mowing the lawn. If anyone has figured a way around this problem, please share it.

Hey, I just now tried this..It’s does pretty good except it’s a few of my Kindle books that it doesn’t read even though I brought the books from amazon kindle store..Why is that? I mean a lot of my other kindle book are being read by Alexa except for a few of my other kindle books are not..
That happens when the author or publisher has not enabled the feature of text to speech for the content in question. Amazon lists this information in the product details of each digital book. Maybe try to contact the author or publisher.

The text-to-speech is GONE in the Kindle for Android app!
I will not try to use the TalkBack feature. that's a nightmare.
I just found your video and seems to work fantastic on Android!
BTW. If you are not in the U.S., you may have problems downloading Alexa for Android.
But if you use a different Google Account and mark your location as U.S., it works fine.

I downloaded a kindle book sample but it won’t read it. Alexa says “I don’t see any text to speech enabled books in your kindle library..” does it have to be a purchased book or a book that has the text to speech?

Couldn’t make Alexa play my purchased kindle books , said they were not text to speech enabled .
Some other docs in my kindle also would not play .
Kindle Vella would not play either . Finally got kindle Vella ( serial books/short stories) on the Amazon app/Vella but used the regular iPhone T to S.
