Unpopular opinion: Obviously it's great that there is this tech Speechify offers to make information more accessible to people who are neurodivergent. A price tag for people in need isn't an equitable approach, for sure, but we need tech to exist and progress so that we can find what works and know more about leveraging the strengths of dyslexia. I'd argue that this is the first step toward the greater good before bringing it to our public systems. That's the arena for funding explicitly for equitable education. Society will be trying to progress with one arm behind its back if we wait for public funding to move dyslexia tech forward. This should exist in the public sector but I don't think these tools shouldn't exist elsewhere otherwise we are like crabs in a barrel pulling down efforts to advance the field. Omg I never thought I'd sound like such a capitalist 😅
@@svartling Huh? Have you used Speechify lol? Their text to speech tech is out of this world. You can even train the algorithm to clone your own voice. It's crazy and sounds natural. Apple's built in voices are robotic and suck. Only problem I have with Speechify is their customer service is terrible. Other than that, it's a very innovative app.
On a mac the default reading voice is super robotic, but you can go to the "System Settings" > "Spoken Content", and change the "System voice" to Siri and it will be much nicer.
BEWARE! They charge your card right away before the 3 day trial and it is almost impossible to find where to cancel. They suggest you cancel with Apple but that doesn't refund your money. It only cancels it at the end of a year. I'm still trying to get my money back.
Sir thank you very much. Super appreciate this. I had so many apple devices and could not believe I paid for Speechify. THANKS THANKS. Donations will come soon.
This was a awesome video I even found out that you can use this on screenshots so it will read the page of the book with incredible accuracy. Thanks again this video was really helpful
Thank you so much for this, sir. I didn’t set up Siri on my iPad, because I didn’t think I would use it, but I may need to start using a medication I have used in the past that made my brain foggy when I read books, but there are no audiobooks for the series I am reading right now. Perhaps it’s the moon attacking my emotions, but this helps me so much I almost cried.
It is nice that the Apple devices have this feature built in, but the voices are horribly robotic compared to the AI voices that are out now. Sadly those voices are not in any free apps, and they usually have to turn an ePub into a pdf which takes a few minutes before it starts reading.
Is there a way to increase the speaking speed to more than 2x? I don't know how just once 2.5x speed was available, but as soon as I changed it and then tried to set it back to 2.5x the maximum was 2x again. Best would be up to 3x. Any idea?
for $10 per month and unlimited use, I would accept that but what they are charging and the use time is a joke. In the trial I used up all my time in 10 days and would have to wait another 20 days to be able to reuse it. I am wondering why google or others did not come up with a free or cheaper solution for natural reading.
OMG! OMG! THANK YOU SO MUCH, For showing us this but I’m a little sad because I can’t get the voice to start were I need it to. 😂 Then I have notice that she is all over the place. But I think you so much maybe she’ll get it together.
While the current TTS on iOS 17 is perfect, I hope the AI improvements on iOS 18’s Siri would make the TTS more natural (like proper pauses between commas and full stops, or between paragraphs). Hopefully, they can add a proper Read Aloud action within the Apple Books app, I read a lot of classics with cross references, and modifying the TTS to exclude the superscripts would make for a better reading and listening experience
@@svartling just looking at your more recent uploads and I am really considering getting the pro version of Speech Central.. you can use OpenAI’s voices now on the current version. Do you think its worth it? 👀
Sorry but those voices sounds terrible and robotic and only 5 voices. Thats why it's free. I'd rather pay Speecify for their natiral sounding human like voices.
Thank you so much. I got an IPad more than four years ago and no idea about this feature. I’m a slow reader, I fall asleep while reading within an hour, plus I have a back problem. I’ve been reading like crazy and in pain in order to pass a test for a license that is due soon. I was just about to purchase that expensive app, but not anymore 😅 I just setup my IPad, it works!
Completely disagree with this. I've used Apple's text to speech, Edge browser, Voice dream and Speechify. Speechify is far ahead of the others because their voices sound very natural. You can even train it to clone your own voice and use that. It's a great product and the best out there to convert any book to an audiobook. Also, you can use it on unlimited devices and pick up where you left off. Only negative with Speechify is their horrible customer support. With the others, the voices are super robotic, it's hard to listen fast with the robotic voices and also, it's boring to listen to those voices.
Thank you!!! You can also do it in good notes just tried this!!! Just do the last part in setting to add the voice, and in good notes just select the whole text and then in the bar select “ speak “ and it will read it for you!!!! It’s perfect, very thankful!!
