that little black contraption that you showed seems to be for an anchor. I'm pretty sure you would feed the relatively thin anchor rope through the two black things and that allows for you to not drift too far away from the anchor point.
Hey clay I think those 2 things together on the front of the boat are to hold your anchor line when anchored, they clamp up on each other when your anchor line is between the 2 of them...
Clay , put a couple of empty 2l plastic bottle in the hatch , bouyance ..use the fish finder too way marker points for future fishing grounds . Add another stretchy rope holder in front of hatch..helps with the paddle..tight lines mate ..
With your various Ticers & Lures I noticed some just had a split ring OR no split ring to tie your line to. Can I suggest putting on a split ring AND a swivel so to tie your line onto. By doing so your line doesn't become twisted & the ticer or lure will have more of a wobble when being wound in making it more attractive to fish. I hope this makes sense. Cheers
Just a guess; but, the two cogs on the side could be either - #1: tied off for an anchor line; or, a “Jerry rig” version of an extra hand hold for loading or carrying…….. first guess is for an anchor or tie off line - out of the way of fishing parameters……. Looks good mate - I use a kayak for Crappie fishing around the docks here in Middle Georgia - USA……
There is a paddle holder/bungy clip next to your seat there Clay. Keeps your paddle secure once your on your spot fishing. Also always tether your paddle to your kayak mate for safety. Tight lines.
Hi Clay. My name is Inti. The family and I have been following your content for a little while now. We enjoy it a lot! I grew up in Golden Bay and often lived off my ability to catch and hunt. I left the Bay in the early 2000s and now live in the Far North, on our own slice of paradise. Your videos are perfect, as they reflect my values and everything that I am teaching my young kids, with the added bonus of being able to show them my old stomping grounds.. like the Cobb, Abel Tasman, Riwaka, etc. It's frankly uncanny how often I recognise the landscape before you mention where you are! In any case mate, keep up the great content!! - And if you are ever up these ways, feel free to come stay with us, - the fishing is insane :)
Nice Kyak Clay , they slip through the water well , I’m with you regarding the fish finders too , I’d rather sniff em out myself bit more challenging lol , great video mate 👍
I just bought me a brand new second hand kayak and took it out for the first time yesterday, Glass off conditions and got me a few legal snnapper :D GET IT
Bloody awesome mate..ive never really done kayaking I tried in highschool. An with my old exploring team briefly..my neighbor over the ways stopped me yesterday while I was out exercising and said he had a kayak I could use, reckon ill give it a go bro..im always scared my back will play up and ill be stuck in the water.. But If I dont try ill never know.
Great choice of kayak , good to fish from and having a rudder is a must . Over summer we head out wide from Newplymouth chasing Tuna . Check the rear cover in the fish storage area behind the seat for leaks , when we are trolling for tuna we have the rods in the rear rod holders ,loosen your drag a bit and put the clicker on 🤙
I met a guy when I was surfing Vancouver Island who made Badavaarkas (native kayaks) out of whalebone and seal skin which were very flexible, thus hydrodynamic and fast, quite the artisan and craftsman
I love your new kayak. I recently bought a Fishmaster 4.3 which I am still learning how to use. Like you I wasn't sure what to do with my paddle. It took me a while to find out that paddle holding bungee beside the seat. Your new kayak has this as well. It is between the carry handle and the rod holder. If you pause this video at 13min46 seconds you can see the bungee just above the letter O of Ocean Kayak. Place the centre of the paddle under the bungee and it holds the paddle along side the kayak.
Nice Kayak, tip on the anchor - connect the chain to the top instead of the normal anchor point, lay it back it along the side and cable tie it to the usual anchor point (can put a small cut in the cable tie for a weak point too). You'll thank me if you ever get it stuck on a rock
Good buy and thanks for the video. I have two Prowler 13s and can recommend the brand (Ocean Kayak) happily. You might have a few extra visitors this summer.
Nice one, long and faithfully may it serve 🙂 I have a Tootega Pulse that I use for kayak surfing, a Prowler 13 that has been my fishing platform for the last 4 years, and I recently bought my daughter and I a Perception Triumph 13 each. I christened mine 2 weeks ago with some good fish for the family. My daughter has yet to christen hers 🙂 I found my Prowler didn't track as well with the fish-finder transducer, so I removed it and gave it to a friend. I wish you fair weather, tight lines and great success on your new kayak !
Im a little bit envious that the fishing is still so good in new zeland, its getting a bit cold in the northern states so most of the fish are beginning to migrate southwards where its warmer. Hopefully I can still get a couple of good bites before the fall season's over.
Apples and pears mate. Nifty is good for outboard and small excursions. Kayak is good for sea fishing missions as long or far as your fitness and skills determine
Hey clay great vid, question 4 ya. Any places near by to dive 4 kina an paua around there an cockles me an my whanau be there in 2weeks an abit of local info save alot guessing
@@ClayTallStories went to mapua where u fish had acouple cast but nothing. Nice place you have here went to Morehau for cockles this morning might go 4 a flounder tonight in da bay we just staying in motueka in a hotel very nice place alright
Dear Mr. Clay; It’s great to see you again. This has to be shot for the moment, because I have to call the doctors office, so I will get back to you just as soon as I can take care of some business with them. Sincerely.
Kayaks aren't made for going to war with sharks 😂 but kayak are much stronger than you think and sharks aren't really into big plastic logs paddling around
Risky part of the hobby is driving to and from the beach. Over 300 NZ'ers die on the road a year, no one has ever been killed by a shark on a kayak (to my knowledge).
You are an absolute breathe of fresh air as far as UA-cam algorithm goes.. I fuckin love you clay 🤙
Fishing 🎣 is great therapy
Use the hose to part fill it with water, and look for leaks.
Done...and sorted. Good helpful comment
I love ur videos i wish i could fish with u cause u just like my grand pa
❤❤your just awesome
Shit yer boat ramps n sydney. Nice weather its a supermarket. Kayaks great' cheers

I gave you a handmade filleting knife, lol. Great video my brother... a very good haul of fish....
Yes it got lifted by someone staying in the house truck hopefully it finds its way home.
@@ClayTallStories Bugga, you called it your shumi knife..

Glad you enjoyed
Fantastic video. I am working on getting to the point of being able to get a kayak and fish from it.

Also check your rod holders ,one could have a Crack in it allowing water to flow in ,because they lead into the Hull
Great info
Looks nice mate even though i don't know anything about kayaks it's gets a 👍🏻from me 🏴
Cheers mate
Nice looking kayak clay love the colour stay safe out there enjoying your videos 😊
Thanks 👍
Missing your videos, waiting for new videos.
Working on it bro
Mean kayak Clay recently got my self a scrambler xt with a home made rod holder!
I met a guy when I was surfing Vancouver Island who made Badavaarkas (native kayaks) out of whalebone and seal skin which were very flexible, thus hydrodynamic and fast, quite the artisan and craftsman
thats incredible. I love those old traditional ways
How about a short piece of hosepipe over the part of the elastic where you want to hold/store your paddle?
That's not a bad idea mate.
I am hoping to learn what those weird cog things are on front of kyak also at 11:35..They seem to be rope guides of some sort. For tying up?
I love your new kayak. I recently bought a Fishmaster 4.3 which I am still learning how to use.

Bro i miss few of the old trout vids.
I am just getting into fishing and I learn a lot from your fishing videos, thanks mate appreciate ur videos!!

The fast yaks normally tippy. Mines slow but can stand n fish n like that. No game fish haha no tippin tho'
Beautiful place to fish

Hey Clay.
Comparing this to the Nifty inflatable boat how does a kayak compare (particularly portability and safety wise)
Thanks

Hit me up when you going out next bro
Hey clay great vid, question 4 ya. Any places near by to dive 4 kina an paua around there an cockles me an my whanau be there in 2weeks an abit of local info save alot guessing
The kina here are tiny. Your closest dive spot would be cable bay but it's not flash.

I often think I need a kayak.. Hmmm?
Do you get much whitebait coming in there clay this time of year? Some of the kawhai down in Canterbury are massive atm feeding on the bait
Yep, a few running up the channel on some days.
👍
If i remember correctly your nephew mikhail caught a couple dogs at that spot too. Hope you been well bro.
That's where Mikhail caught his first Kahawhai with me. RIP. Well done spotting the spot mate.
should fill it with water and find the leak

🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
N peddles so moves
aren't you scared of sharks in that boat? one bite and its over id need a big boat to go out that deep to feel safe haha good work tho!
Kayaks aren't made for going to war with sharks 😂 but kayak are much stronger than you think and sharks aren't really into big plastic logs paddling around
Use Lures or soft baits instead of fish bait
they won’t attract sharks
Risky part of the hobby is driving to and from the beach. Over 300 NZ'ers die on the road a year, no one has ever been killed by a shark on a kayak (to my knowledge).
Yep, transportation is the dodgy bit.
❤👀😃🐟🎣🍽
Only way I'd have a Kayak is if it Fell Out Of The Back Of Your Truck✌🏼😎
