Disclaimer: I am not now nor have I ever been an employee of HRD, I am not doing this video at the request of HRD, and I am receiving no benefit from HRD for doing this video. That said, I am a fan and have been using HRD for many years, long before the current owners purchased the rights to the program. In those days HRD was provided free of cost to radio amateurs. I believe the version number that I started with was either two or three.

Tom, I followed your TS890 to FT8 video, and got that working fine. I am trying to get HRD working now, and used the built in port connecting in HRD, and it almost does it. Everything works, except the rig goes into transmit when they connect. I made sure I did not have vox on, and even unplugged the mic, but still stays in trans. If I turn the rig off/on, it seems to be ok. During your TS890 video, while covering the ports, you mentioned that under the Advanced setting, on ports 17-20, that 19-20 would be used in HRD, but not details. Could this be my problem?

I’ve had the same problem. I’m thinking it has to do with a firmware update, but have no insight into that. But as you found out, cycling the rig power puts you back to normal. 73

I am having trouble making macros in the digital portion of HRD. Have you made a video on this? Thanks.

Thanks for the presentation. What happen if I do not pay the $49 yearly fee? Is the original license still valid and usable but I do net get upgrades?
Secondly what hardware interface can I use to interface my Icom ProII to the software.

If your rig is a IC-756 Pro II, you'll need to use the CIV connection on the back of the rig. If it's a different rig, let me know and I'll look it up and get you the right answer. Once you purchase, you'll get all the upgrades and user support for a year. After that, if you don't renew, HRD will continue to work as normal, but you won't get the upgrades or free support. It's not going to just stop working at the year and a day anniversary. If the $49 is a hardship, I'd recommend not renewing, but keep your eye out for sales or for upgrades that really interest you - then upgrade at that time. They don't announce their sales ahead of time, but you can look for sales around (U.S.A.) national holidays like July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, etc. Hope this answers your questions... Let me know if you need any help with anything else. I'm not an expert in ICOM, but I'm really good at research and usually at least point people in the right direction. 73 de Tom, ND3N

      Hi
Thanks for the answer. I have located a supplier in the UK that can do the hardware interfacing to my PC. With shipping these days it may take a couple of weeks before I have it. Once I have an interface module I'll look at the software. At least the software is downloadable.
      Thanks again for your assistance

There is no required yearly subscription fee. There never has been. The first purchase gets you a "perpetual software license" that entitles you to run the software perpetually (past, present, & future versions). There's an option to renew the "New Features & Support" benefits so you can also unlock new features and access tech support.

Your home location is by Africa for Sat tracking?? I have yet to find information on how to change that.

I’m not sure why that is. HRD has been going downhill for a while. I’ll still keep it, but probably won’t sign up for the annual again

I’ve been a subscriber for years. I would highly recommend the same.
This is not a cheap hobby so don’t be cheap with finest class of logging software and much more.

Actually, $349.70 - but that averages out to around 19 cents a day. I guess it depends on how much you'll use it. 73 de Tom, ND3N

      There's no annual fee requirement.
