“I’m sailing” 🤣🤣🤣 “keep sailing Bob”! Never fails to make me howl with laughter. The film was really ahead of it’s time for the subject material. You two laughing this hard is so infectious and just what the doctor ordered today. Have a lovely day off ❤
In the 80's, my dad had HBO and a VCR so he recorded so many movies that my brother and I had quite the selection to watch growing up but this one somehow slipped past me for 40 years until about a year ago when my girlfriend asked me if I had seen it. It's one of her favorites so we watched it and I laughed as much as both of you. I couldn't believe I had gone as long as I did without seeing it!
@@DavidvsFilmBoth excellent movies that were definitely on our list. Back to the Future and The Karate Kid were ones we watched a lot. And I'm a sucker for Major League, I watched that movie endlessly!
Wonderful! This one doesn't seem to get a lot of attention. I remember it fondly; with some bits of having identified with parts of it... I'm gonna watch it again first, I think. (Please, forgive my thinking out loud in the middle of my comment.) I'm happy to see it here. And both your big laughs in the thumbnail. See you later! :)
Bill Murray was indeed on SNL, he came on board when Chevy Chase left for his film career. I would like to suggest a comedy for Christmas time called Just Friends if you haven't seen it. The same actress plays the mom as in this one.
Oh ok, thank you! And YES, let me tell you.. Just Friends, in my opinion, is the perfect comedy. The writing, the timing, the delivery, the casting choices- the best. "Forgivenessssss is more than saying SORRRRRY......" You have excellent taste ;)
Happy Movie Monday David and Marc! 😊 Great reaction you two! This is one of my favorite Bill Murray films. And this is one of my favorite comedies. I haven't seen this movie in so long. But I remember pretty much all of it. Another great Bill Murray movie that I recommend for the Christmas holiday season is the 1988 "Scrooged" if neither of you have seen it yet. Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
Thanks Randee!! That's how I was with What About Bob?- it had been a long time, but I remembered most of it from childhood watching :) And Yep, I've seen Scrooged but I'm not sure if Marc has. I'll have to ask him.
Thanks guys. This made my day. One of the best movies ever made in my opinion. There’s no way to watch this without laughing no matter how many times you’ve seen it! Y’all did a great job of keeping the movie alive and fresh after over 30 years! Wow!
I love this movie! I saw it when it first opened and can watch it again and laugh so hard my stomach hurts. Yes, thank your mom and dad for recommending this movie!!😂😂😂😂
Bill Murray was on SNL from Season 2 to season 5 he was brought in to replace Chevy Chase who left after the first season. He was one of the original cast members (the original not ready for prime time crew, as they were called).
@DavidvsFilm You're welcome. I was born in 1972 and my mother loved SNL and let me stay up every Saturday and watch SNL with her, so I grew up with SNL and know it quite well.
My photography professor in college had Tourette's, not the involuntary cursing kind. He did have a friend who had it and her word was "n#%&$!". She had a story where she was standing in line at a bank, in front of her was a black guy wearing a purple sweater. She tried to not say it, but eventually it slipped out she exclaimed, "purple n-, purple n-, purple n-." He turned around, she tried to apologize and explain. He said, "Lady, if you think n-s are purple then you have an issue." The Tourette's scene always brings that to mind 😂. Dr Marvin had WAY more patients than I would have. I love the couple that owns the shop, lol.
I think the best way to describe this is like Jim Carrey in The Cable Guy where you can see both sides of the situation but you laugh your ass off at the great dark comedy
The bust is Freud. Bill Murray: SNL writer, actor (1977-1980), 72 episodes. Yes, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and also Oz. Before they can practice, analysts are required to undergo years of psychoanalysis themselves. Most other countries celebrate workers on May Day (1 May), but Americans thought was too "Communist."
What a great comedy! It was a very well cast movie and the script comedy is relentless. I cracked up at “all I want is peace and quiet “ “I’ll be quiet” “ and I’ll be peace “ Lmao it was fun to watch the review with you guys! Fun fun fun!
David, let me set you straight (as if that was possible), Bill Murray was a SNL cast member. Remember, I'm old and I know things! Ron & I watched your and Marc's reaction on Labor Day and we have to say we enjoyed it much more than we'd ever would have enjoyed the movie on its own. Seeing Marc laughing as he recognized some Bob"s idiosyncrasies as his own was so cute & fun and probably healthy for both of you. Thank God I've never had therapy; I might have lost my charm. 🤪 RON, QUIT ROLLING YOUR EYES!!! 🙄🙄🙄
The "I'm sailing" and eating corn scenes are so damn funny!! I can't even count the number of times I've watched this classic and it NEVER gets old.. But I have read several articles and saw a Dreyfuss interview about how him and Bill did not get along at all on set. Maybe it wasn't just acting when it comes to Dr Marvins disdain for Bob.. 🤔 Anyways it made for a great movie.. As always a great fun reaction from you two lovelies!! 😁
Haha yeah, I have to say that after not seeing this for years, it felt exactly the same watching it again. And as much as I love my R-rated movies, I always respect when a PG-er can really entertain me like this one does. Thanks for watching this one with us ♥️
LOL when I was a small, neurotic child I watched this with my parents and couldn't understand why they thought it was so funny. I was on team Dr Marvin because I didn't understand how Bob just ignored all the instructions and cues to stay away! I was a very obedient, goody two shoes child but since my parents made me that way I guess it's their fault I didn't get it, haha
@@DavidvsFilm and I'm super new to your channel but I just really love your energy ...both of you! and your laughter and just your whole aura! thank you for what you do.🌸
This movie actually frustrated me. I've majored in psychology, on top of having anxiety, depression and PTSD myself. No matter what, you don't treat a patient the way Leo treated Bob. Poor Bob may have been frustrating, but if you think about his mental issues that he said he has, on top of the way he's acting with the mental illnesses he seems to have, he needs to be treated a certain way. Bob is still a human worthy of empathy and respect. I was definitely the son growing up, lol.
I appreciate how you feel and agree that it is absolutely a frustrating example of psychiatric practices, R.D.'s character is clearly needing a refresher on patient/psychologist good practices or simply retire. That might be one of the concepts the movie demonstrates...how the mental health field need better counselors/ therapists that treat people with real compassion etc. All that being said as someone who also copes/lives with anxiety, depression and some leftover PTSD, it is still one of my most favorite/beloved comedies. And tbh...sometimes baby-stepping has genuinely helped me!😊💚 But yeah...if that was my therapist...I'd be seeking a new one asap!!
That is entirely the point. Dr. Leo is an insufferable, pompous, selfish, self-righteous jackass. Don't be a Leo Marvin as a psychologist or psychiatrist.
Funny classic film. Its a shame that in real life. Behind the scenes that Bill Murray was being a bully towards Richard Dreyfuss. Not surprised since even though Murray seems funny in movies he's know for being an a-hole in real life.
