ALICE IN WONDERLAND (1951) REACTION - DON'T LET'S BE SILLY!

  • This was a fun and wacky reaction this week. I have many memories of watching Alice in Wonderland as a child, as I do for many other Disney films. Watching it as an adult was a little different. Everything up until the Dark Forest and Queen of Hearts is ace (pun intended) then it kind of goes a bit downhill, I think maybe it's the shouty Queen that spoils it for me personally. It's still a classic and enjoyable to watch, I love The Mad Tea Party, Alice and The White Rabbit. A recommendable movie! I'll catch you on the next Disney reaction, which is Peter Pan.

"In the Walrus and the Carpenter sequence, the R in the word "March" on the mother oyster's calendar flashes. This alludes to the old adage about only eating oysters in a month with an R in its name. That is because those months without an R (May, June, July, August) are the summer months in England, when oysters would not keep due to the heat, in the days before refrigeration."

This movie is definitely one of Disney's wildest classics! It wasn't a favorite of mine as a kid, but now that I'm older, I can really admire the artistic liberties put into this movie!
It's a very different vibe compared to most of Disney's films 💙

I love your reaction! I feel ya, I LOVED that movie as a kid, and grew up to adore the books, which are honestly quite close to the Disney movie in terms of tone and themes.
But most of all... thank you so much for not CONSTANTLY comparing this movie to the Tim Burton version... Look, I know people worship that version... But I don't, I feel like it misses the point of Wonderland entirely.

Yes. The White Rabbit is voiced by Bill Thompson who also voiced Smee. He also voices the Dodo here so with that in mind youve heard him as Jock, King Hubert and Uncle Waldo the drunk goose in the Aristocats.

It's funny because in France, the Cheshire Cat has the same voice actor than these characters except for " The Aristocats " where he voiced Roquefort and Lafayette.
That guy was the boss of the french Disney voice acting. He passed away three years ago

Yes, Bill Thompson who voices The White Rabbit (and the Dodo) also voices Mr. Smee (and all the other pirates) in Peter Pan, Jock, Bull, Dachie, Joe and The Irish Policeman in Lady and the Tramp, King Hubert in Sleeping Beauty and Uncle Waldo in Aristocats (his final role before his death in 1971). He also voiced Droopy Dog in numeros MGM cartoons (as well as his rival Butch), The title character in the Screwy Squirrel cartoon Big Heel-Wahta, Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore in several Donald Duck and Humphrey the Bear cartoons, Station Manager Flannery in Pigs is Pigs, Professor Owl in the shorts Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom and Melody and was the first voice of Scrooge McDuck in the featurette Scrooge McDuck and Money (decades before Alan Young became the most famous take on the character).

Californian here who just visited Disneyland this past summer. Not to dunk on our Alice attraction, but it's very old and very short, and you always wait at least 20 minutes to board. I've seen much longer waits during popular times, because Fantasyland is kind of the kiddie area of the park. It's right in front of the popular tea cups and just past the also popular Matterhorn.
That said, the newer projections help a lot, and the caterpillar cars are so nice. I have a Disney collectable pin of the witches from the Nightmare Before Christmas riding in a purple caterpillar. It's one of my favorite pins to wear with the Disney fans. 🥰

Didn't see this one until I was 13, by which point I reveled in anything with a wild, offbeat sense of humor. By the time the Dodo tried to burn the house down, I was sold.
Walt himself was frustrated with the end result (he had a different style in mind), and disowned it after it was released. It became the cheapest Disney film for TV networks to rent and air during a vacant timeslot, and it was one of the first to be put on VHS back when Disney had minimal faith in home video formats. But in the meantime, the film's reputation got elevated by people who would watch it *while* elevated. (Never had use for that sort of experience myself. I don't need drugs. I am drugs.)
The animators typically recorded live-action reference so they could study actors' movements. But the ad-libs of Ed Wynn (Mad Hatter) and Jerry Colonna (March Hare) cracked them up so much that they scrapped the dialogue already written for the scene.
I like your theory that Cheshire Cat is a god in this world ... a god of mischief like Loki, where his power is in manipulating situations. It's feasible that without other gods to keep him in check, he's shaped Wonderland in his own image, hence the raving chaos.

You should definitely consider creating a patreon, where you upload your full reactions unedited, that would be an interesting idea, especially if people want to watch it side by side with you, like some of us 🤷‍♂️

Side by side I don’t like that some people do that in Patreon I expect the creator to upload whole movie along with their reaction not getting my own version and putting side by side because i always watch movie first and watch people reacting to it why would I wanna watch with someone side by side ? That is just weird I subscribed to some Patreon and I was like what where is the movie it’s like just this people watching and talking there is nothing else I am like what the friendly person and we are paying ridiculous upload the whole movie that’s what Patreon is for don’t give her stupid ideas like that it’s dumb they can just upload the whole movie along with reaction just like in UA-cam but uncut

@@jollypopz9976 I am just saying it’s very stupid concept to do side by side they should just upload the movie with them watching it so we can just watch them how they feel or what they think do they think and feel sane as us that’s why we watch reaction videos right ? That’s all I am saying also I enjoy watching movies alone on my phone sometimes I watch it on tv I recently watched Mary and max stop motion film I searched in UA-cam people reacting to it nobody has done it also I watched the house new Netflix stop motion film also only one person has react to that one so I am thinking to suggest this movies to Nenya wish she had Patreon I am preety sure she won’t do side by side system because people who do it are just being Annoying you know how some people are really annoying you are probably in that category I don’t know it’s just simple Patreon I pay to watch full uncut version of them reacting to movie because in UA-cam they can’t do that but when I purchase membership it’s just peoples I am like is this what I paid for what is this anyway nice taking to you everybody is different I think you have your own opinion I have my own so nothing personal just discussing thoughts 💭 so nice taking to you 👍

I just watched a movie reaction for sleeping beauty, and I have to say that the undertones in the Queen‘s voice actor sounds a lot like Flora, one of the three fairies
I really like picking out the different roles that these voice actors from the early days of Disney had in the different movies ❤

I watched it a few times as a kid but it was always one of my least liked Disney movies because of the plot or lack thereof. Surprisingly after rewatching it as an adult it’s now maybe my favorite or 2nd favorite animated Disney movie, though it’s more so for the visuals than the plot. I love the animation in this movie as it’s so colorful and detailed.

Whenever a character is upside down, or is looking upside down from the POV of a particular character, like Alice, I am often inclined to look upside down to make it look as if they’re right side up. You ever had that habit?

There are a lot of details in the movie that the younger gens had after that decade passed. Most of those jokes are still funny but not as understood as they used to be.
    “Mary Ann!”
A term used by Rich home owners would call to bring about Any female servant close by because a specific name might not be heard. It’s why she was a little upset at being called ‘Mary Ann’.
The Mad Hatter and March Hare are actually supposed to be in the first and second book. First one was the tea party, second book was the un-birthday party.
Hatters of that gen would put the hat one while still wet to make it the proper shape for the customer later. The chemical still wet in those hats would slowly and painfully drive them insane or Mad.
The March Hare is because during March the hares or rabbits would run around insane during their mating season. Hence, March Hare is just as mad as the Mad Hatter.
The book mentions that the Hatter had an upset with Father Time and they are now stuck at tea time until he lets them go. But are they really?….
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dom were in the second book, not the first.
The woods she got lost in were in the second book.
I haven’t read the Through the Looking Glass but I researched some of the unexplained-ish things that happened.
I most definitely was ‘falling down the rabbit hole’ of the internet looking for these things. 😂😅
Oh! And the writer was thrilled with the talking door when Disney added it. The book didn’t have a talking door and he wished he’d thought of it.
