I set every trommel barrel as flat as they will go without slurry coming out the back. This produces the deepest "belly" of gravel at all times. (best material scrubbing)
    Thanks,
    Joel

Jonny roxx, Thanks for the comment.
I agree with you completely that the larger rocks being run through the system does wear more, but the extra gold recovered from scrubbing the larger rocks potentily produces more dollars than the price of the replacement parts.
~One study showed up to 4% more gold by scrubbing the oversized rocks~
    Thanks,
    Joel

Kendoe0341,Yes the barrel will actually last many times longer than this - I was giving a worst case senerio so that people could see the economics were still sound. Thanks,Joe

    snoopy9949, Good eye!
But that same bolt is found in 40 locations on this wash plant which makes life alot easier for the operator when needing a spare.
    Thanks,
    Joel

I'm certain that you are correct. But this barrel will wash approx. 12,000 yards or more. 12,000 yards x $10.00 dollars per yard = $120,000.00 dollars.
Complete replacement barrel = $2,500.00 dollars. And, we can make them with 3" grizzly if you like. :)

All looks right but for one thing, from my 40+ years of building trommels I found that if you set the grizzles no more than 3 inches apart and you have plenty of water sprayed on your material you can classify faster and with less wear and tear on your lower end. This baby looks beefy but after 2 or 3 thousand yards the way it is, you'll be replacing chain, bearings and trommel tube. My opinion, or is it the voice of experience, your choice!

At even $10.00 dollars per yard x 10 yards per hour x 10 hours per day x 20 days = $20,000.00 dollars per month x 6 months = $120,000.00 dollars per season - machine rental + fuel + expenses = $15,000 per season - net $105,000.00 dollars per six months.

i really like this wash plant but 1 question? what size and typr of electric motor are you using for the trommel and is the same motor running the vibrating hopper?

Joel Farmer, Nice trammel , I've been wanting to build or buy one for many years. I was wondering why the barrel only lasted for 12,000 yard's or so like you stated ? I figured run time like you at 10 yards hr. x 10hrs. per day x 6 day's a week 2400 yards a month x6 months =14,400 per season one barrel a season is a lot even at $ 2,500 then you have labor and down time . Are you using mild or cold rolled steel to make the barrel ? and if so why aren't you rolling the barrel out of AR 500 plate steel . I've been a welder fabricator on heavy equipment on Cat's John Deer Ect. for over 25 years . working on a few large trommels here in Arizona at some rather large gravel pits and the barrels is the last thing that needs to be replaced and run for years and years, normally only replacing the punch plate, screens and paddles only .I have built or lined close to a hundred dump trucks over the all were built using AR 500 plate which is hardened steel plate.

+COMMANDER of the NORTH - With this design and 6" grizzly, the gold stuck to oversize rocks is washed off and enters the scrubber. Gold losses would be in your sluice box not being matched to your deposit. Give me a call any time.
      Thanks,
      Joe
