In this video, I take a closer look at one of my favorite Speedmaster references, the heritage-inspired Speedmaster '57. Pairing a historically accurate design with a decidedly modern in-house caliber, the '57 makes an intriguing argument while also differentiating itself from the standard Speedy. What do you guys think of the OMEGA Speedmaster '57?

Having worn the sandwhich dial almost daily for a year now I can only sing its praises. Beautifully executed watch and so comfortable on the wrist.
In my humble opinion, Speedmaster chronoscope is also a model that almost everyone overlooked
Yes! I absolutely love the Chronoscope.
Agreed, love the chronoscope! It wears great and has more advanced tech than the professional. Small gripes with it though: the back isn’t as beautiful, the lyre lugs don’t look the same (wider stance), and the winding feel is nearly silent / not as satisfying. Small nitpicks, but things to note
It wears big and it’s overpriced
@@wristroll_vlad nuh uh

I have had my Speedy 57 for about a year or so .. phenomenal watch that I wear daily.
I was torn between the Speedy and Zenith El Primero until I tried on the Zenith and it simply was a good fit for my smaller wrists.
Ultimately I was won over by the beautiful vintage design combined with an excellent modern movement.
I also was fortunate to find “a like new” one for under 7k, which allowed me to pull the trigger
Got this one in blue and I love it. Was my first luxury watch and after a year I still love it. I didn’t actually want the moon watch because it’s way too common and I liked the 2 sub dial layout which made this look cleaner. I have zero intent of selling it as this is my 40 yo birthday watch that my wife got me ....so resale really doesn't affect me. I just love how it looks
Teddy Sir,
Thanks for the SUPER quality close up video's.........if must take enormous effort to create them
Your watch is very very classic, although it's pointer tips (overall shape) of the hands seems very pronounced......Arrows.
Thanks for your up to date info and the beautiful presentation
from your videos. Superb.
Ben
Thank you so much for the support, Ben!

Great timing! I just bought mine yesterday, love it
2:00 the most notable difference when someone goes out to actually buy this watch vs the speedy pro, is the price which you fail to specifically mention. It's 35% more expensive compared to the hesalite pro model.
Amazing videography! I loved how structured and informational this video is. I have one and I love that it is a faithful interpretation of the original with a superb movement. I gotta say though, it wears much larger than the moon watch, so definitely try it on in person if you have a smaller wrist.
Great video Teddy, I've owned Speedmaster Professionals for years, but just picked up a blue 57 this week. It's truly amazing. It's not inexpensive but quality of this is much greater than much more expensive watches.
I am more than happy with my purchase. I realllllllly wanted the GO SeaQ Pano Date in blue, but my dainty wrists can not pull it off, and the regular version has a closed case back. :[. But alas, I love my '57
Purchased this watch late 2022. Absolutely love this timepiece! Decided to purchase because I loved the dial & the polished look it gave on sections of the watch. Happy that it is running great and looking fantastic while being my daily wearer. 👍👍
I got mine last year, swapped the metal strap with the brown leather strap and it wears like a dream. Awesome video as usual Teddy
I have this in green and was love at 1st sight. Only thing I was confused was green or blue. Love this and daily it. Glad you liked it too, kind of a reassuring 🤗
Great Watch! Omega realy hit it out of the park with the "new" 57. Great size and great move to make it hand wound. Very Nice Videos as always from you and your team Teddy 😊
I'm not a Rolex lover... But I'm digging that '57. I love the vintage look. It's a unique look.
And congratulations on hitting 1M followers! Totally deserving!
I really like this model but couldn't quite budget enough, so I went with an Aqua Terra instead. Maybe one day!
Aqua Terra is an excellent choice!
Hi Teddy, perfect video as always. Nevertheless there is one thing I’m missing, wich is a visual side-by-side comparison on the same scale of the original 57, the new 57 and the Speedmaster professional. I miss this comparison in all the videos (of all the fantastic creators) that are about two or more watches, but I never see them next to each other.
I’ve got the blue dail one with the steel braclet and matching leather strap. Ive been using the strap for almost a year now, i like it more then the braclet. Awesome watch.
My Speedy ‘57 is my favorite watch in the collection. I have the non-broad arrow version and its dresses up and down perfectly. Can’t say enough about it!
My favorite speedy, the sandwich dial, and the bicompax subdials, amazing symmetry, and that bracelet 😮💨.
The Speedmaster ‘57 wore larger on my 6.75” wrist than the Speedmaster Professional, which has a lug-to-lug of 48.2 mm. I went with the Speedmaster Professional.
Very interesting, as we have the same measurement wrist. I have the modern Speedy sapphire sandwich but I can't help but loving the blue dial 57. I need to get one on wrist to see. :)
@@DominusEstOKYes, compare them one after the other. I fully expected the ‘57 to wear smaller than the Professional, but it didn’t to my eyes. That said, either one would have worked for me.
A 37mm of this would be perfection
@@5891jonathan thank you for your feedback. Very helpful.
I have the blue dial version, it's pure magic! Mvmt gorgeous, bracelet tapers perfectly, and case is perfect
I have this watch...picked it up at an estate auction for 3200. I wear it with a nato band. Love it
I picked up the blue dial for my 30th. It's perfect.
Awesome way to mark the occasion. Enjoy the watch!
Congrats, Great choice. I am looking at that same model for myself as a possible retirement gift to myself. I am a bit older than you are. ;-)
@@TeddyBaldassarre I got a call from Will that represents your business. Is this spam? I IM you on your business Instagram
I got this watch on my 23th birthday. Somehow I still have to wait 2 months for the sandwich dial. Having this over a year now, still the best accurate mechanic watch I have. Other watches will start to be slower if I put them on chrono mode for more than 2-4 hours long.
I’m picking up the burgundy one this year, plus a constellation.
I own one of these. I’ve owned many Speedmasters. This one is my favorite. 1/ Total strap monster. 2/ Incredibly useful layout. 3/ Accurate to within three seconds a day. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love mine, it's such a good looking watch and super comfortable.
I just ordered this watch from Exquisite Timepieces! I'm so excited to get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This watch is incredible on the bracelet. But if you add a good quality aftermarket brown leather strap (and black too!), it takes it to a whole other level! The black face, faux patina, steel bezel, and brown leather work really well together.
I bought this watch with the leather strap and love it. Just what I was looking for.
I love my green dial 57, but the construction of the black sandwich dial is so cool, wish I liked it enough to buy.
Also I chose the 57 over the Professional Moonswatch as my first Speedmaster because I wanted something slightly different. I have this aversion to collecting really popular models that can be seen everywhere
Thank you Teddy for bringing the '57 into the limelight (now just hope investors don't shoot up its value). It is overlooked and certainly underrated when compared to the Moonwatch, indeed. I like the original black and stainless steel look of it. Although, I think 40mm is a bit big, regardless a fantastic piece. Rightly mentioned, without the '57 there would be no other Speedmasters! Planning to gift myself on my 30th!
Only people who "underrate" this are the "but is it gonna go up in value, is it a good investment for all of my savings money????" crowd...
You own one then right?
Nobody Underrates anything.
It’s just under-liked for the price point.
Teddy sells these…… It’s a sales pitch 😉
Wrong, this watch is amazing. I was 1 minute away from buying the green one. Switched at the last second, this watch blew me away. Smaller, but not dainty, classic but modern, and an amazing movement…yes you can get one cheaper on the grey market than retail. But even at retail, it’s a great watch. Don’t buy it if you can’t wear it.
@@mg8571 Please tell me you got a good discount! 🙏
What does ‘don’t buy it if you cannot wear it’ mean?
Have the 57 in black with the sandwich dial and love it way more than any professional i ever owned. I have it on the amazing bracelet.
Going to buy the black version after i brought my Seamaster 300 heritage good combination that compliments each other.
I wishbthey could release a two tone version would look incredible.
So many great looking Speedmasters, this one included. The current "Moon Watch" is so good though. Hard not to go with the classic.
I like the patina feature on the Speedmaster 57. I currently own the hesalite moonwatch
Blue or Green IMO. Also, having a date complication makes me want a 57 over the new white Speedy pro.
There seems to be much more love than hate for the 57. Agree the sandwich dial is the way to go. My only omega is the 60th 007. The watch is brilliant but the overlap and buckle in the mesh strap is somewhat uncomfortable at times. The bracelet on this 57 looks really nice. The movement also looks killer. Great review Teddy!
This watch is kind of insane. It isn’t iconic like a Speedy Pro, and it isn’t automatic anymore, which seems like a reason someone would choose this over a Speedy Pro (although I appreciate how this isn’t a hockey puck on the wrist now that it got rid of the rotor and went to a manual wind system). I think this watch isn’t for people that don’t care about the “moon watch” history and just like the design, or they already own a Speedy Pro, like that this design is slightly different, and want to add something unique to their collection. I dig it… but it would be like a 3rd or 4th watch in my collection. Thanks for making the video, Teddy!
For me, this is the coolest Omega watch. Especially the blue and red models. Looks great with a black leather jacket and sunglasses. 😎
The chronograph minutes and hours are hard to discern in the 57. I have two chronographs with this layout, and the only one I can easily read when timing a flight is the Omega deep black chronograph (because the minute hand in the combination sub register is orange). Greg Kissing likes to say that combining these indicators in one sub register gives you a potential two timezone watch (if you start the chronograph at noon or midnight). That doesn’t make that sub register readable.
Thank you teddy.💯👍
Firmly in the Professional camp rather than the '57 but I do love the sandwich dial - would love to see a Professional version of the dial with three registers and the Pro handset.
That back is crazy
This is gonna be my next celebratory watch ❤ Hope Omega doesn’t raise prices
Watch tierlist? Maybe have some specific categories for rankings.
Love the watch, the sandwich dial, the 2 hands on the 3 oclock sub dial, however i find the dial a bit too grainy, a lacquer like on the red one would have been nice
Own the green dial along with a speedy pro. Both beautiful and wear very differently.
One of the best looking watches IMO
I do love that blue dial ‘57! It’s sharp! But I’d have a hard time trading in my current 3861 Speedy for it. While it would be a better daily watch for me with the date and blue dial, it would lose the Moonwatch history for me, which is something that I really can’t take away from that watch. Otherwise, it’s just another vintage-inspired reissue, whereas I view the new Moonwatch as a natural iteratively improved modern version, slowly over time of their watch, like Rolex does with their Sub.
I see you are now wearing your wedding ring. Congrats, I hope you had an amazing ceremony.
I love this watch
Owned one and love it. Tbh recently i found myself wear 57 more than speedy moonwatch. You should make a video about chronoscope next time. I think chronoscope is more underrated than speedy 57.
@TeddyBaldassarre have you ever checked out brands like Cimier, Mugnier, Berhard H Mayer. These guys are making some amaziiing Swiss watches at a quarter of the price and exceptional quality.
Yes. MY favorite brand of wrist watch........MARVELOOUS. SEAMASTER and the Speedy are marvelous watches.......💖💖💗💗💖💖💙💙💜💜♥
Was really keen on this but thought it was too thick when I tried it on. Wish it was 1-1.5mm thinner!
This is a beautiful watch, however because of the lug to lug measurement it was too big for my skinny wrists 😅
Guess I’ll go for the professional or 38 mm version
If only omega would use this bracelet for all models
I don’t know about underrated but certainly comparably overlooked.
Guys I need help 😂
A few days ago I have heavily scratched the crystal of my loved orient bambino 38mm, some of you do know the size of the bambino doomed crystal?
I can't find it on the internet
PS. Thank you Teddy for your incredible work!
A big hug from Italy 🇮🇹❤
the only speedmaster i like
Why did they add a phallus at the 12 o'clock marker tho
I can't unsee that. Puts me off buying it.
I live in Montana and it gets pretty cold down to -30 for weeks sometimes. Are most watches ok in conditions like this or any watches best for that?
I wouldn’t worry about it if it’s on your wrist you’ll be fine. I’m from Calgary, it gets pretty cold here too!
If you look at the watch of the crazy DEA officer in "The Professional" I think it looks like one of these!! Who liked the uncut version of this wild movie?🎉
Hand-wound + Date complication is an unusual combo. Good looking watch though.
What do you think of the 1953 Rodania Geometer design?
I really love it and I get one on my wrist!
The reason I purchase cause the vintage looking and smaller size, 42mm moonwatch is too big for me.
It is interesting when you contrast the size with the professional. It is thinner and the diameter is smaller, but I do find this one wears broader across the wrist. Still wears great though.
@@TeddyBaldassarre I also think the ‘57 wears larger than the Professional, at least on my wrist. I expected the Professional to wear larger, but that wasn’t the case.
I like the 57 better than the original moonwatch speedy
If you want an elder statesman, get a rail master, imo. Manual watches are great, if you alternate watches
This is the only speedy I actually like. I’m a big Omega fan but chronos just aren’t my thing. There’s something about that sandwich dial and creamy lume that just hit perfectly.
I bought this exact watch just over a year ago. The biggest reason was the look of the broad arrow hands and a more balanced look of the two sub-dials. This was my first manual wind watch, so I have to be mindful of how much /often to wind the watch. Best part, I went to the Omega Boutique store and asked about the availability of the watch. None were in stock, but received a call three weeks later and purchased the watch. I have an older Aqua Terra, and a Seamaster 300M. This watch is my favorite.
I’d be all over this if the lug to lug were a little smaller.
That’s a beautiful watch. But I don’t think I will ever use the chronograph function, why pay for it?
Gorgeous watch, but that lug to lug killed it for me. The overhang on my wrist was not great.
I looked at one of these recently, burgundy dial. I'm a fan of omega, but at least the one I saw was surprisingly terribly finished. Case, bracelet edges were very roughly finished , dial looked cheaply done, bracelet felt cheap versus the bracelet on the seamaster 300.
I would argue that the 9906 is a modern version of the 321.
On picture I was in love with the Speedmaster 57 in blue or green. Then I fitted one in real life at my AD and I was disappointed with both watches. To my eyes those two models looked plain, a bit boring and not that appealing in real life. I know; the Speedmaster 57 should be more special being a dial in blue or green or…but for some reason it did not look and feel this way. I can not understand or explain why and It’s ofcourse a personal opinion. But for me; my Speedmaster Pro Hesalite is so much nicer on every aspect.
The IWC Ingenieur 40 is a couple of grand more (and overpriced on paper with that movement) but when I fitted this watch in Aqua I was amazed and blown away about the looks, details and presence.. This was something I thought would happen when seeing the Speedmaster 57 in real life, but sadly it was not the case :(
I don't understand why they choose to hide 80% of the movement. Maybe I'll just wait for the 3rd iteration.
I would have bought this if I had the money they look amazing but im a student I can't afford that 😂
The strange thing to me is if it supposed to be a tribute to the original.....why it now only has two sub dials.
All I heard during this video was “hisssss” 🐍
I'm still confused whether to choose a chronograph, diver, or dress watch from omega. Do you know what is the best or newest omega movement related to the price?
maybe the aqua terra it dressy plus 150m depth rating it is a great watch to wear daily. Many Dials to choose from plus sizes
I'd would not look to Omega for a dress watch, myself. The white dial smp 300m is probably the best diver for the money, imo.
I see, thanks for the input mate
Why not looking at the Constellation Globemaster? 39mm, thin for being an automatic, short lug to lug, co-axial master chronometer, pie pan dial...
@@adit7277Why the obsession with Omega when you do not even know which type of watch you want?
The best Omega is the Planet Ocean IMO.
Dress watch might be Grand Seiko apart from the micro adjustment, but the Aquaterra does not have any either.
Not sure which Chronograph you are thinking of, but think long and hard about manual wind before you choose an Omega.
This was on my short list for a while until I saw it in person. I ended up not liking the dial at all. The texture is too rough and the lume color is very dark. Like, light brown. Obviously, this is just my opinion. I went with a Zenith Chronomaster Original, which has a similar looking case, but a much better looking dial.
Love the watch but I feel Omega needs to do some work on the bracelet - it doesn’t have any substance, feels cheap - just doesn’t compliment the watch.
Great watch but so many other things in the space

Good Afternoon, I am a huge fan of watches and would like to start a collection but I am unable due to budget restraints. I would really like to own an Omega Seamaster Professional 300m Blue dial watch, it is my favourite watch and it is impossible for me to buy it, can you please give me a new Omega Seamaster Professional 300m Blue dial watch, it would really make me the happiest person. Please can you please buy me one, no matter the type of strap, I live in the UAE
Please like this comment so that he can see it
The 57 is my favorite speedmaster in terms of the look overall, but the sandwich dial and fauxtina on the black model just ruins it. Makes it look like a Fossil watch.
Not trying to change your mind but I think the lume is simply a color choice. Instead of referring to it as fauxtina look at it as a shade of off white. Patek use a similar color on their 522G and 5326G which are very respectable and not Fossil. It's no different from Tudor using guilt dial on everything.
@@miabeatz80It's not just a color choice. It's trying to mimic a vintage dial that took years to happen. It's definitely FAKE patina. I really don't get faux patina. It makes no sense piss yellow markers look horrendous
at 5:30, "eschew" isn't pronounced "es-kew", but rather "es-choo".
This is underrated? It’s like my favorite omega ive ever seen.

I love.tje speedmaster models ...for some reason though this model just doesn't do it for me. It's not ugly but just I think there are better speedmaster models many of them
It's not underrated when Omega makes it impossible to purchase. It's just uncommon, because Omega makes it impossible to purchase.
