Grand Teton is one of our favorite favorite NP's. Lots of good memories there (Got married at Jenny Lake many years ago). We live near Yosemite now which we also dearly love.
I was lucky, I worked in the park for 5 summers during college (1964-1968) back before Teton Village, only 1 traffic light in the middle of the town & a lot of the shops closed during the winter. Best years of my life
Also: if anyone stays at Colter Bay let it be known that there is great swimming at 'Swim Beach,' just north of the visitor center. Water is very pleasant on a warm summer day. I strongly recommend Colter Bay to anyone who has never been there. Take your time, relax, explore. And if you go: Hermitage Point trail out of Colter Bay is my favorite hike in the park.
One of my best memories as a youngster was visiting Jenny Lake and walking into the Church of the Transfiguration. That marvelous view of the Tetons through the window behind the alter.
My wife and I were there in 1974 and took a float trip down the Snake River. It ended with an all-you-can-eat sourdough pancake breakfast. That summer we were gone for 7 weeks and went from Massachusetts to California and back. The Grand Tetons were definitely one of the best memories we have. We still camp but have moved up from the two person tent we had back then to a 20 foot travel trailer with air conditioning!
SO HAPPY Grand Teton is requiring reservations now. From Wisconsin and had plans (pre-pandemic) to visit in September 2020. Got to the campgrounds at 6:30AM and there was already the long line to the highway. ALL CAMPGROUNDS were full or closed for the season within a 2 hour radius. Had no choice but to start heading back east and visit somewhere else instead. Looking forward to making reservations and visiting GT NP in the future!
Even in Minnesota state parks the campground dumpsters have been centralized. I walk to the dumpsters several times while camping. It’s worth the time and effort.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. We only had two full days in Teton so I focused on the handful of suggestions you offered when time is limited. We camped at Jenny Lake and Gros Ventre campgrounds, outstanding campsites. We made sure to visit Schwabachers landing, Mormon row, Rockefeller preserve, went looking for black bear on moose-wilson road, hiked the 3.3mile loop at Taggart lake, and took some amazing pics at Oxbow landing. I’ve seen a lot of National parks, but Teton is my favorite so far. Thanks again!
Me and my wife went there and yellowstone on the last week of October in 2017. It was obviously a risky last second call but it was so worth it. The weather turned out to be beautiful and there wasn't anyone around. Me and my wife wandered down to a camping place at a lake and it was complete silence. Something I've never experienced while being outside. No cars, no wind, no birds, nothing. I was watching the Tetons through the reflection of the lake. I'll never forget it and always hope to do that again. We also went out at about midnight at Mormons row to take picture of the milkyway and ended up meeting an astrologist that another another photographer hired and they taught us a lot about what we were seeing and how to take pictures of it. It truly was a wonderful trip.
A great presentation! Thank you! Who leaves trash? What kind of people would leave trash in our beautiful parks...parks for the people. Just sad and so disappointing for mankind.
Love the Tetons. Been to Jackson Hole twice and got to attend the Spring Fling at the Jackson Lake Lodge in '64 when I was a college student. I have seen the sun rising over the Tetons from the Idaho. Our host actually woke us up so we could see the beautiful sight of the Tetons silhouetted against the horizon when the sun begins to come up. Magnificent.
My wife and I have visited GTNP many times but you sowed a number of places i have not seen. I think I'll start looking for a reservation. Love your channel. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for putting out another great video on Grand Teton NP. Was there 2 years ago and took your recommendation and stayed at Gros Ventre for 4 days and then went up to Coulter Bay for another few days. This time will be spending 10 days there in September, and have a reservation at Flagg Ranch, between Yellowstone & Grand Teton NP.
Went through the Tetons in early June. Really didn't see much, since we left Yellowstone in a blizzard, which continued through the Tetons. Definitely want to go back and visit this area. Great video. Safe travels.
Heading to Wyoming at the beginning of August. Staying in Afton, Wyoming for a month. Plan on taking some boondocking side trips throughout the area of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Then who knows where. We sold our farm in Florida and are full time RVing until we don’t want to anymore! Living in our 24.5’ Surveyor TT right now and can’t wait to get on the back country roads! Love your channel and all of the wonderful content you produce! Thank You!
Take at least a week in the GTNP. After 4 seasons living and working there I still can't get enough! It is Heaven on Earth. Great tips; y'all covered most of the good stuff. Well done.🤠 Happy camping. P.S.: Yellowstone is over-rated. Cheers from Ranger Rabbit.
My favorite place is just north of Jackson. The Museum of Western Art. I'm not the tea and crumpets guy, but I just loved this museum. Food is great, scenery wonderful, art is cowboy! The building looks like the ruins of an old structure, but it's new.
We've been several times over the past 50+ years to both. They are WONDERFUL places. As you stated they are getting more & more busy with people each time. The first few times was dead of Summer and never had an issue with getting a camp spot. Couple of years ago during off season the park was pretty darn full. Now its crazy full. All well worth it though. You really need a minimum of 3-4 days in each park IMHO.
The last time we were there was in 1976. We wanted to go last year but had to cancel due to Covid. When I wanted to make reservations at Coulter rv park they were already booked. We will be staying at an rv park in West Yellowstone and driving down to Jackson one day and see some of the Tetons then.
Woohoo!! We are headed that way this summer for our first time. Hope to run into yall out there. Loving last week's and this week's format of laying out what to do based on time and adding on to it. 🤙🏼
My spouse and I visited 9 years ago - you guys have shown me how much we missed. We have learned so much from you in the last year. Our Airstream gets delivered at the end of May - can’t wait to create new adventures.
Just get home from Grand Tetons. Beautiful this time of year. Inside road is closed at this time. Still a great visit to Jackson. no crowds. Thanks for the good info. LoLoHo!
I haven't been to the Grand Tetons since 1994, but I can't wait to go back. I did the horseback riding, and the views were just amazing, so highly recommend it. I only got 2.5 days in the park, and it definitely was not long enough. But, I did see moose!
We have been to GTNP twice as an “add on” to our trip to Yellowstone. This summer we plan to be there for a week. Looking forward to exploring more of this great park. Thanks for the update!
We will be in Dubois, WY from 9/24 - 10/8 this year. Everything inside the park was booked solid and with a 38 foot travel trailer we are limited in where we can stay. We had booked in Fishing Bridge Campground in Yellowstone but they had to cancel on us because the construction there wasn't going to be completed in time due to the pandemic. We plan to explore around Dubois, drive down to Sinks Canyon State Park, and drive up to the Tetons during our trip. We're hoping the weather doesn't turn too cold and/or snowy too quickly this year. Taking a bit of a chance going this late in the season but we couldn't arrange to get there any sooner.
My wife and I will be working at Jenny Lake Lodge this year. We are looking forward to seeing you. Rhonda will be at the info desk at the lodge and I'll be in the warehouse counting Coke cans. Happy and safe travels!
I'm proudly wearing my LOLOHO shirt watching your video as we are camping in a state park in Arkansas. We look forward to your videos every week! Looking forward to making it back to the Tetons some day. God bless!
Chased the 4014 Big boy steam engine last week. No reservations but for one in Jefferson City Missouri, Binder Park Campground. RV travel is best unplanned. Keep up the good work.
We just drove the Upper Teton view road two weeks ago. The road was super loose. There was not a single space open in the dispersed sites throughout the park. Always have a backup plan.
We made a road trip to Yellowstone and came back to Texas through Grand Teton Park. Unfortunately the weather was getting worse and the mountains were covered with clouds. We managed some great pictures of the T.A. Moulton Barn before the thunderstorm hit. Thank you for all your suggestions in the future we can use your advice on our next trip to that area. We loved Jackson Hole!
I grew up on the Idaho side of the Tetons. You could see them though our kitchen window. They look like sharks teeth on that side. Hey, you got to do the tram on little Teton (next to ski resort at south end)! It has been rebuilt, its larger and goes up faster that the older one from the 60s. I've only be on the older one. Looking forward to seeing and riding the new one. What a view up there! I have it as a bucket list item to go back to the park after all is settled down (3 years should be about right). No less than a week to see a good portion at a leisure pace.
The dump station gag was funny! I'm going in three weeks and plan to be there 12 days. I will be returning in late September for another 12 days. I will be doing landscape and wildlife photography. I was there for 2 hours in 8/2015 and got smoked out. It was so bad, you couldn't even see the mountains so I left. I was winging it and sleeping in a car. I was there last September for 2 days and was hazed out from smoke. It served more as a recon trip for this year. I hope I will finally get some stretches of nice weather and great skies for the images that have been eluding me. Thanks for the informational vids.
We went to Teton and Yellowstone in September 2018. One of our favorite places so far. Teton is the wild sibling of YNP. We found it quieter and much less touristy. We hiked up the Cascade trail to Inspiration Point is was amazing. Used the Gypsy App for both parks and it was so helpful, highly recommend it!
We visited the park last September. Spectacular! Didn't spend near enough time there or at Yellowstone. Will definitely be going back! Great video, as always!
A group of women campers are going to Yellowstone and Tetons this year from Reno area. Thanks for the tips. I went in 2019 but just got to drive through. Your videos were very helpful in letting us know where to go.
We love visiting GTNP. We summer in Star Valley, WY in our RV and visit the park as much as we can. One thing we love is to take a picnic dinner to the snake river and watch for bears and eagles (typically below the dam). Can't wait to visit more this year.
Thank you so much for mentioning mobility in your videos! Very helpful. I look for places that can be viewed from the car, or walk some on flat surfaces. Thanks for ALL your info!!
My family of 4 will be visiting both Grand Teton & Yellowstone for the first time this summer. Your videos are so informative & so much fun. Thank you so much. I'm taking lots of notes. Love you both!
We visited Grand Teton National Park yesterday. Half of the loop, the side with Jenny Lake, was closed. We we able to drive the other half up to Colter Bay Village, which was full of snow and also closed. There was lots of snow on the mountains, but the roads were clear. We saw 3 moose, a coyote and a GRIZZLY BEAR, which garnered a lot of attention and a pile up of cars on the side of the road. We enjoyed all the scenic pullouts and one short hike to the Cunningham cabin historic site, but obviously missed out on a lot of other attractions that the park has to offer. We will definitely be back at a better time of the year!
Loving the Seinfeld quote for your opening. This was a GREAT video. As we get more comfortable camping and towing (and backing up our rig), we plan to travel farther from home. Yellowstone and Grand Teton are definitely on our bucket list.
Hopefully you will be there in August. Our group of 3 traveling units have our reservations from the 19-25th at Gros Ventre CG. We have planned a 7000 mile trip and another stop for us is Orange Beach, Alabama. We really love the LoLoHo nation. Hope we meet someday. Mike Masters
Excellent information. One correction: the town is Jackson, the valley is Jackson Hole. The Forest Service camping has a 5 day stay limit, May 1 to Labor Day. 14 day other times. Thanks.
I’ve lived in GTNP for thirty years and every single day I see something new, but most important - stop, relax and smell the flowers! You can’t begin to "to see it" in five days! Go to Dornan's in Moose. Sit on the deck eating pizza!
You are so lucky!! I'm 4.5 hours away, but still feel blessed to be able to go twice a year, we will be there May 27th! Dornan's has the best magaritas.. Last year when we went I drank 3 and I was wasted.. I don't drink much lol than we went down Moose Wilson looking for bears Mom had to drive 😂
I love your video's.. you two make some of the funnest and most informative RV video's out there, so please keep it up! We started out countdown to retirement and full timing.. 1253 days to go! We'll be looking for you out there!
Thanks LoLoHo! Very informative again! Definitely clicked a "save" on this one. Your detail is VERY appreciated by many. Thanks too for the add in on the trash problem because it is REALLY REALLY bad. The "I don't care" syndrome, " They are paid to clean up after us we paid our entry fee", had gotten beyond ridiculous. If this trashing doesn't stop we could loose a lot of parks. Like Nevada & California booendocking areas have been closed due to dumping n trashing.
In 1974 my father and I hiked the wind river range for a month. There were no physical trails. There were no people. We only crossed paths with other hikers once. We had a plotted course on a topo map and a compass to navigate between lakes.
Wow! Now that sounds like true adventure! If we ever cross paths, you'll have to tell us all about it! I can't imagine backpacking through an unmarked area for a solid month. I'm definitely not that brave!
We never grow tired of visiting that area. Someone asked us how they could be garranteed an RV site this summer & we responded that you can ensure you have a spot by becoming a camp host. We are in our way to Colorado for our camp host position for the summer. The sites often book up 11 months in advance in many of the popular Campgrounds. Camp hosting is a lot of fun & at our campground it pays very well. Cheers!
Wonderful episode including some fun activities in this gorgeous area of the Grand Tetons National Park. You guys, being the longest running RV Show on UA-cam are both great communicators. Regards,
Grand Teton is one of the best places I have seen in 62 years. Thanks for the great video and all your work you had.😎 Do not miss the hike to Lake Solitude ( if you are in good shape) One of the best hikes ever.
They are inspecting for the invasive Quagga and Zebra Mussel which are wreaking havoc in lakes and streams in the US. Every place I know of in the west requires boats, etc., to be inspected or washed down before being put in the water. In the upper mid west and Great Lakes they have clogged waterways and water systems.
Nice job! We volunteer for the NPS and have been going to Grand Teton for 20+ years (we met you all briefly last summer!). Lots of great info for visitors here!
We are headed to Yellowstone and Grand Teton in June 21. Thanks for your great update. Will be staying in Idaho State Campground called Henry Lake State Park when going into Yellowstone and trying some boondocking when in Teton. You gave us some great ideas for the highlights of trip!
We have been to GTNP many times. We always stay in Gros Ventre park. Thanks for the heads up about reservations and for the boat permits. I just bought a kayak and will be towing it behind my truck camper. Funny how a tiny organism can change the world....again Great video! I enjoyed it so much I watched it twice. Great shots!
Love your videos! We are visiting the Grand Teton and Yellowstone NP over on Memorial day, and your videos have been the most helpful in our planning! Thinking of spending 2 days in the Tetons, and about 4 days in Yellowstone. Just can't wait!!
Thanks again for another great video. In two weeks we'll be meandering our way to GTNP and Yellowstone. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning...two weeks is such a long wait!!!
Thank you for all your information. We're near Flaming Gorge northern utah right now we were planning on visiting the Grand Tetons and yellowstone but weather yellow stone south entrance is closed till may 10 the so maybe next fall when we head south from Minnesota take care y'all
For years we have trekked to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons every other year in our truck and 5th wheel. We have noticed that each year it has become more difficult to get an RV site and the traffic has gotten so much worse. We changed our camping strategy to a fully self contained pickup bed camper, so we can take advantage of primitive camp sites and traverse the traffic easier. GTNP & YNP in 2022, we are making plans now.
Great information, as usual, you guys! I drove through Jackson Hole on my way to Twin Falls and back but I wasn't able to stop and enjoy the town. It's very busy there!
We also love the Teets. Made a 3-4 day stop there late last summer and we are considering spending a week there around Labor Day this year. Love your videos and hope to meet up someday.
Thanks for the drive down memory lane, I don’t think we will make it there this year; hopefully, next year...love Dornan’s Pizza, great pizza and the best view of the Tetons!

Colter Bay is the best! We almost always see bears in that area. Especially 399

Thanks for the summary. We are heading to Grand Teton NP first week of August...
I love your video's.. you two make some of the funnest and most informative RV video's out there, so please keep it up! We started out countdown to retirement and full timing.. 1253 days to go! We'll be looking for you out there!
Headed there in early July.....very helpful video for first time visitor ....thx so much!!
Another awesome video! I’ve learned so much from you both over the last couple years. Thank you!
Very well done, think you for the information and inspiration to get out and get some great shots.
Your videos are so interesting....look forward to them every week....thank you for sharing!
Regards,
Thank you for all the useful information. We visited Teton National Forest a few years ago and can't wait to go again soon.
Very nicely narrated with beautiful sceneries
Grand Teton is one of the best places I have seen in 62 years. Thanks for the great video and all your work you had.😎
Do not miss the hike to Lake Solitude ( if you are in good shape)
One of the best hikes ever.
Grand Teton is one of my favorite parks. The story about how it became a park is very interesting. Would love to go back there some day.
Nice job! We volunteer for the NPS and have been going to Grand Teton for 20+ years (we met you all briefly last summer!). Lots of great info for visitors here!
Yes we will be headed there in June for the first time in the northwest. Thank you for a great video
Another one on our bucket list & so much Great info.!!! Thanks Sean & Christy!!! LOVES/HUGS...
Thanks again Shawn and Kristy for another video right on time for our upcoming trip to this area!!
Ram 👍🏼👍🏽
Can I get that quote on a tee shirt, “ Our National Parks are not land fills”.
Nice! Presentation and photos!
Thank you from Fairbanks.
You guys are awesome! Thank you!
Great video .... I am hoping to get to the Tetons this summer .....Recently retired and ready to travel....
Great tips! I'll be visiting Teton at the end of May and Yellowstone the first week of June!
Thx guys always enjoy your travel videos. We were there but only for a day while visiting Yellowstone , it’s a beautiful area .
Thanks again for another great video. In two weeks we'll be meandering our way to GTNP and Yellowstone. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning...two weeks is such a long wait!!!
Thank you for all your information. We're near Flaming Gorge northern utah right now we were planning on visiting the Grand Tetons and yellowstone but weather yellow stone south entrance is closed till may 10 the so maybe next fall when we head south from Minnesota take care y'all
Great video and information as always! So glad we went last July! Hope to see you out there! Hugs to you both!
GTNP & YNP in 2022, we are making plans now.
yep, going in September .thanks !
Went their last August 2020 met my son and his daughter in Jackson hole. Great time and heading back this summer again. Cant wait!!
Great information, as usual, you guys! I drove through Jackson Hole on my way to Twin Falls and back but I wasn't able to stop and enjoy the town. It's very busy there!
Definitely on the list of National Parks to visit. Thanks for the awesome video.
Thanks so much Sean and Kristy for your blogs I’ve been to Yellowstone and grand Teton and planning to go back next year.
We have been before and plan to go soon in our RV. Great video!
I have been to the Tetons twice - just love this park, it is so majestic!
A meet up sounds like fun, but you are on the other side of the country. We will live vicariously thu you. : - )
