My wife just stared at me -- I hadn't made my comment on Old Trucks Rule known to her, so I had some explaining to do. What our little exchange says to me is that you guys care about what people think of your efforts -- and in truth I do really appreciate your work a lot. We just started watching this year, so we weren't aware of the seasonal changes in content. Anyhow, thank you for what you do -- I probably was way out of line in my (I thought) politely put critique, but perhaps I should have said something different or nothing at all. But if you found motivation from it, all the better. On the subject of today's video, we went to Glacier for the first time last year and were in awe of the wonderful views. Good job brining this remote park to the attention of Loloho Nation.
Big thank you! Wow! That's a lot of information. I went years ago on a motorcycle. In August. Perfect. One of those 'snow bridges' collapsed and buried the Going to the Sun road in 15' of snow. We were on the wrong side so we just chilled....for a few hours. Eventually a front end loader got there and started shoveling snow over the edge. It took a while. I always recommend no one tell anyone how great the park is because I hated to see it become Yellowstone with traffic jams. Too Late!

This was very helpful. We went several years ago, zero planning, found a spot to stay with our 24 ft motor home, and used the free shuttle to access the trails and sights on the road. Needless to say we should not count on just showing up these days!
I went there in 1999. It was a great trip. I stayed at the Mountain Meadow Campground near Hungry Horse. I recommend it highly. I rode my bicycle over Logan Pass. The red buses were parked pending major repairs. Go there !
Many years ago we did a bicycle tour that included Going To The Sun Road. We road from St. Marys to Glacier. It was by far the most amazing vacation we have ever been on. We were there in July and encountered sleet at the summit of Logan's Pass. Going down hill from Logan's Pass was a once in a life time experience. We easly hit 40 mph without pedaling, the hard part was not riding the breaks and overheating the rims causing a blow out!!!
We were there last summer. Fire smoke was brutal for almost entire 2 weeks in the area. Low water levels made rafting real crappy. Did enjoy going over & seeing as well as doing some small hikes in the Many Glacier area of the park. Upside to over there is WAY less people, but downside is gravel road for a # of miles getting in there. Not a knarly gravel road but gravel nonetheless. Lots of good breweries in the area now. Did a beer tour 1 day & that was a blast.
My wife and I visited in 2017. I really liked the North Fork area, there are some beautiful lakes up there. Just outside the Polebridge entrance is the Polebridge Mercantile, an off grid store and bakery. They have THE BEST Huckleberry Bear claws! Sean and Kristy, I'm sorry you've missed out on that part of the park.

You brought back some great memories! We took our kids on a 3 week vacation out west in the 90's with our 1990 Olds Cutlass and our 1988 Jayco Eagle Pop-Up camper. Glacier NP, I believe, is the most beautiful place in the U.S.!!!
2008, Portland to Glacier NP, Alberta, British Columbia, Washington, back to Portland by Motorcycle. Glacier and Waterton Lakes Parks are breathtaking. GTS Highway didn't open until 2nd week in July that year due to the snow.
We went up the Going To The Sun Road in 2021. Two of us on a Yamaha Zuma 125 scooter. It got us to the top effortlessly. Unfortunately it was during the forest fires to the southwest but we still loved it despite lower visibility. Keep in mind that there's an RV turn around before the restricted section that continues up the mountain.
I live in montana and have made many spontaneous trips to glacier over the years ! I snuck in last year, got a campsite at apgar and was in for 3 days. Rode my bike on going to the sun road which was closed to traffic !!!! Its the 8th wonder of the world ! Most important info i didnt know was apgar going to a reservation system ! That hurts ! There are so many beautiful accessible areas for me to recreate in my home state but its getting trickier to do. A chance i might not have a visit this year ! The Northfork area is spectacular. In 2020 it was the only area we could get deep into. We missed out on Going to the Sun Road due to Covid. Bowman and Kintla Lakes were so beautiful.

We had the pleasure of spending 6 months work camping in Columbia Falls in 2020 and enjoyed a lot of Glacier National Park. Although the East Side was closed that year so we didn't get a chance to see that side. The North Fork area is a hidden gem of the park offering some amazing views of the mountain range. The Polebridge Mercantile is a must see and trust me the Huckleberry Bear Claws are worth the drive alone. There is also a great hike outside the park to Hornet Lookout which offers some of the best views in the area.
You are correct. We found this out driving the Going to the Sun Rd. We were there the first week of June and could only drive 25 miles from the west. We had to turn around due to 19' of snow they were still clearing in the pass. It was almost July befire you could drive all the way through. We went to ghe East entrance and could only drive 18 miles in. We haven't been back but we are planning. I thought my truck camper would be allowed but I am 27 ft and 12 ft high. Great video!

Thanks for the comprehensive Glacier National Park Video. My wife and I are going there in September. Her cousin and husband are going with us. It’s good to know the latest restrictions. We were there almost 30 years ago with a pop up camper. This time is a travel trailer and we’ll stay in Kalispell. Your videos in an interesting and accurate.

Funny, I just left the beach..LoL We did West Glazier with Beastie Boy and Mini Me.... Mini me is a Mini Cooper convertible... we did the road with the Top Down... It was Awesome... We stayed at Apgar... Nice....
Going to be there at the end of July. Wish me luck. Although I couldn't secure a campground in the park, because they was gone in seconds. But, I did get a campground right outside the park with there advance registration that opened up this January.
Went last year. The shuttle is free and by far the best way to see it. They run both directions every 15-30 min you don't have to worry about driving or parking or fuel costs. Also took the red bus tour, thought it was costly, freezing cold and not worth the high cost or lack of versatility the (heated) shuttle service offers. We spent several days in our rv at both west and east glacier. There are also several other entrances you can drive into without size restrictions besides going to the sun road.
Great information! You being Oh Gee you tubers, it is nice you can pull clips from your past videos. Except for Sean’s hat, those videos look like they were filmed last week. Thanks for the update on Glacier National Park. My husband James and I worked last summer at Glacier Meadow RV Park. There were a number of people who arrived who didn’t know about the ticketed system. Hope this information helps visitors plan a wonderful trip. Can’t wait to get back and enjoy the mountains again this summer. Last year Going to the Sun road didn’t open until the beginning of July.

Maybe Yosemite could take a lesson from Glacier. Visiting Yosemite is a nightmare! I have been many times but I'm done now. Thank you again!
It's hard to get reservations, but the best part of Yosemite is in the high Sierras. They start taking reservations at White Wolf Lodge and Tuolumne Meadows one year plus one day in advance. Both lodges are really just tent cabins.
I went to Glacier about 25 years ago and been so wanting to return. I will be looking to get an RV in the next couple of years so your content here gets so fired up on returning to the park. Thank you! BTW, I was backpacking on Gunsight Pass. As we were setting up a tent we had a goat walking up to us to see what we were doing. It was way cool.
I don’t like heights, but the high line hike is well worth the effort. In the tough spots, I just put my eyes on path and powered through. We went from Logan pass to the loop. My son did the side trail near the stone cabin near the loop. Unbelievable view of the glaciers! Glacier is our favorite park, we have been there 4 times.
Oh my goodness, you haven't visited Polebridge . You need to go just beautiful. When you go to Polebridge try the cinnamon rolls and the sandwiches at the little store and sandwich shop and bakery. Oh my just delicious. And I mean deeeeelicious. The sandwich is like a hot pocket. I had forgot to mention that.
I've been to Glacier pretty much every year in recent years. We have another trip planned for July. This will be our first time dealing with the ticketing system. Last year we went after Labor Day and dodged the bullet:-) Appreciate the information!
Very informative video, wow lots of preparation and organizing before going to this park. I had a goat experience in the Olympic National Park - about 8 goats (females and babies) and one large male coming down the trail that was on a ridge passed by me except the male which he stared me down for about 5 minutes.......pretty scary. He then passed me and joined his family again. They can be very intimidating.
You two are the best most informative channel on UA-cam. I have followed you for years. My wife and I visited YSNP and Grand Tetons last year and plan to visit Glazier this year. We are really excited about returning to the Tetons because of your videos about Gros Ventre c/g. Also want to spend more time in Idaho along the Snake River thanks to your videos. Thank you for being our “point” and showing us the way.

Thanks Shaun and Kristi for the good advice. We’re doing the Rte 20 & US Route 2 from Bellingham WA to TRNP this summer. We had already reserved our campsite at Glacier NP (Johnson’s RV Prk in St Mary) but based on your video we booked our reservation for the Red Bus excursion today.

Another excellent commentary on visiting a national park. Glacier is definitely a terrific place to visit. I was able to visit in 2017, before all the restrictions, but before Going to the Sun road was completely open. Going through Browning to the east side of the park was a great alternative. Two Medicine lake was very picturesque. Swiftcurrent was a great place to explore, too. Wishing you a great camping season!

I don't plan on going to Glacier this year, but soon. The update is a good reminder that I should check the rules before I go to any National or state park. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Going to the sun road is the park! I absolutely recommend the red bus tour. It is a must do. Have you done it? Love the sign at the Logan pass visitors center. "It can snow any day of the year and it has." On the NPS app, did you know they have a separate new app just for Yellowstone. The person who didn't like your videos should just be quiet and continue living in their mouthers basement. They probably never been out of town.

Thanks for an update big big changes since I lived and worked out of Whitefish back in 2003. Another idea which is an option is to head to Northwest to Eurika. The drive along Lake Cocanusa is amazing from the bridge across the lake to the dam there is a road on both sides of the lake. Traffic was very light and many beautiful views
Wow, I am glad I have been to Glacier. But, I am sure if I did decide to go again, this video will be a big help. Zion in Utah has some interesting reservations, etc...
When I went in September last year it wasn't that crowded. I drove up to Polebridge and it's also a must see. The road up there is a little on the rough side.

A few years back I boondocked over at hungry horse dam. It creates a large lake which a road goes over the dam and around the lake. Along that road are a number of free camping spots. There's also a lot of campgrounds. The area is just a few miles from the west entrance. To find it put "hungry horse dam mpntana" into maps.
Hi friends! There is something particularly beautiful about US national parks. Lots of beauty in Norway too, but not as grand as in the US. BUT you can experience the same type of narrow roads everywhere in Norway (not proud). Thanks for letting me see all the beauty in the US. This is of course on my Bucketlist to do, and I'll be eating my bananas when I get there.

Great timing on this video. We just made reservations for St.Mary campground mid September so we wouldn't need reservations for sun road.

There were a number of people who arrived who didn’t know about the ticketed system. Hope this information helps visitors plan a wonderful trip. Can’t wait to get back and enjoy the mountains again this summer. Last year Going to the Sun road didn’t open until the beginning of July.
My bad. I did find the info about the Sun Road. The military pass I got doesn't cover the Sun Road.

Maybe Yosemite could take a lesson from Glacier. Visiting Yosemite is a nightmare! I have been many times but I'm done now. Thank you again!
It's hard to get reservations, but the best part of Yosemite is in the high Sierras. They start taking reservations at White Wolf Lodge and Tuolumne Meadows one year plus one day in advance. Both lodges are really just tent cabins.

I went to Glacier about 25 years ago and been so wanting to return. I will be looking to get an RV in the next couple of years so your content here gets so fired up on returning to the park. Thank you! BTW, I was backpacking on Gunsight Pass. As we were setting up a tent we had a goat walking up to us to see what we were doing. It was way cool.

I don’t like heights, but the high line hike is well worth the effort. In the tough spots, I just put my eyes on path and powered through. We went from Logan pass to the loop. My son did the side trail near the stone cabin near the loop. Unbelievable view of the glaciers! Glacier is our favorite park, we have been there 4 times.
Oh my goodness, you haven't visited Polebridge . You need to go just beautiful. When you go to Polebridge try the cinnamon rolls and the sandwiches at the little store and sandwich shop and bakery. Oh my just delicious. And I mean deeeeelicious. The sandwich is like a hot pocket. I had forgot to mention that.

I've been to Glacier pretty much every year in recent years. We have another trip planned for July. This will be our first time dealing with the ticketing system. Last year we went after Labor Day and dodged the bullet:-) Appreciate the information!
Very informative video, wow lots of preparation and organizing before going to this park. I had a goat experience in the Olympic National Park - about 8 goats (females and babies) and one large male coming down the trail that was on a ridge passed by me except the male which he stared me down for about 5 minutes.......pretty scary. He then passed me and joined his family again. They can be very intimidating.
We were there in mid-June last year. They said the entire Going to the Sun Road wouldn’t open at least until early July because of the snow.
You two are the best most informative channel on UA-cam. I have followed you for years. My wife and I visited YSNP and Grand Tetons last year and plan to visit Glazier this year. We are really excited about returning to the Tetons because of your videos about Gros Ventre c/g. Also want to spend more time in Idaho along the Snake River thanks to your videos. Thank you for being our “point” and showing us the way.

Thanks Shaun and Kristi for the good advice. We’re doing the Rte 20 & US Route 2 from Bellingham WA to TRNP this summer. We had already reserved our campsite at Glacier NP (Johnson’s RV Prk in St Mary) but based on your video we booked our reservation for the Red Bus excursion today.

Another excellent commentary on visiting a national park. Glacier is definitely a terrific place to visit. I was able to visit in 2017, before all the restrictions, but before Going to the Sun road was completely open. Going through Browning to the east side of the park was a great alternative. Two Medicine lake was very picturesque. Swiftcurrent was a great place to explore, too. Wishing you a great camping season!
Thanks so much for these videos on the national parks! As someone who is only recently started to visit the west, the videos are quite valuable to have a head start on what to look for, see, and just general insights into the park area.
I don't plan on going to Glacier this year, but soon. The update is a good reminder that I should check the rules before I go to any National or state park. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Going to the sun road is the park! I absolutely recommend the red bus tour. It is a must do. Have you done it?

Thanks for an update big big changes since I lived and worked out of Whitefish back in 2003. Another idea which is an option is to head to Northwest to Eurika. The drive along Lake Cocanusa is amazing from the bridge across the lake to the dam there is a road on both sides of the lake. Traffic was very light and many beautiful views
Wow, I am glad I have been to Glacier. But, I am sure if I did decide to go again, this video will be a big help. Zion in Utah has some interesting reservations, etc...
When I went in September last year it wasn't that crowded. I drove up to Polebridge and it's also a must see. The road up there is a little on the rough side.

A few years back I boondocked over at hungry horse dam. It creates a large lake which a road goes over the dam and around the lake. Along that road are a number of free camping spots. There's also a lot of campgrounds. The area is just a few miles from the west entrance. To find it put "hungry horse dam mpntana" into maps.

Hi friends! There is something particularly beautiful about US national parks. Lots of beauty in Norway too, but not as grand as in the US. BUT you can experience the same type of narrow roads everywhere in Norway (not proud). Thanks for letting me see all the beauty in the US. This is of course on my Bucketlist to do, and I'll be eating my bananas when I get there.
