Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri is a Mexican singer, often referred to as El Sol de México (The Sun of Mexico), which is the nickname his mother gave him as a child-"mi sol". He is widely regarded as the most successful artist in Latin American history, having successfully performed in a wide range of musical styles, including pop, ballads, boleros, tangos, jazz, big band and mariachi. Luis Miguel is also recognized as the only Latin singer of his generation to not crossover to the Anglo market during the "Latin Explosion" in the 1990s.

You should see the concert that he did in Argentina 1997 with the song ( Por debajo de la mesa.) you have to see it until the end. Yes, at 10.30 he is improvising. I saw him live in Mexico City twice (not being a fan). I was shocked by his voice and talent. He is the best singer in Mexico, by far. A genius.

Actually, the way they were saying "ayer" is the correct one in spanish (except for a couple of countries where both "y" and "ll" are pronounced as "sh"). What you thought the word should've sounded like might have been the way some people pronounce it when speaking quickly in a casual conversation: "aier".

I had the pleasure of seeing him live in South Lake Tahoe a few years back. 90 minutes of non-stop music from this Latin balladeer. I became a big fan of his. One of my favorites is the Tango, "El Dia Que Me Quieras" which has an official music video that is amazing. Here is an artist not afraid to make the song his. Originally written and performed by Carlos Gardel a master of the tango Miguel with amazing accompaniment takes you on a musical journey of romance. Throughout that song, you will definitely feel the tango genre come through. He's a Latin crooner the "Rat Pack" would have been proud to feature in their day. Thank you Maggie for the musical insight.

He is obviously a seasoned stage performer and has a cult following (mostly have teen and college-age girls I would suspect). He knows he has a good voice and is good looking and it shows. Powerful, well controlled voice. I only wish she was not quite as dramatic, looking down so much, but I understand different cultures also love the “extra” drama and expressions in their singers and also actors and actresses. Well done performance. 👔

"Cult following." I'm hispanic, and I am not a fan of this guy by any means. I also can recognize the talent he has. He started his musical career from a young age (early teenage years).
Hus fanbase is any kind of person. Both my parents very much enjoy him often. Man and woman. I am almost in my 30s, so you can take it fron there that my parents are no "College girls", nor in their 20s.
Plus, they are also people with master degrees.
Bottom line: your demographic-pointing comment towards the likeability of an artist, it's pretty sad.
I could say the same of Americans. I am a classical musician, and it is pathetic how the majority of Americans don't have an idea about actual music. But oart of being a musician is to be tolerable and open-minded towards music. (Except something called reggeaton, that's just nasty noise😊).

👔 I first found out about Luis Miguel while watching the movie Speechless in the early 90s and although I didn’t know Spanish I was amazed at his voice. Fast forward to today, I have 10+ albums of his, seen him in concert thrice, and my wife and I will be seeing him every time he comes back to Dallas now that we live here. Luis Miguel is without a doubt my favorite singer!! Thanks for the react vid and please do more of LuisMi!! Some options are La Incondicional (thank you for this), No Se Tu, Hasta Que Me Olvides, Por Debajo De La Mesa, Amarte Es Un Placer, La Bikina, Me Niego A Ester Solo, Suave, Suena, and Hasta El Fin. Most of your subscribers have no idea that they just watched a legend who’s known as the Sun of Mexico. He’s a once in a generation talent and you need to check him out more. He’s been singing since he was 10 and his vocals are still amazingly strong. If you ever get a chance to see him in concert, don’t think, just go!
