CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Hans (Alan Rickman) thinks he's dealing with just another American cowboy and McClane (Bruce Willis) agrees with him.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
It's Christmas time in L.A., and there's an employee party in progress on the 30th floor of the Nakatomi Corporation building. The revelry comes to a violent end when the partygoers are taken hostage by a group of terrorists headed by Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), who plan to steal the 600 million dollars locked in Nakatomi's high-tech safe. In truth, Gruber and his henchmen are only pretending to be politically motivated to throw the authorities off track; also in truth, Gruber has no intention of allowing anyone to get out of the building alive. Meanwhile, New York cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) has come to L.A. to visit his estranged wife, Holly (Bonnie Bedelia), who happens to be one of the hostages. Disregarding the orders of the authorities surrounding the building, McClane, who fears nothing (except heights), takes on the villains, armed with one handgun and plenty of chutzpah. Until Die Hard came along, Bruce Willis was merely that wisecracking guy on Moonlighting. After the film's profits started rolling in, Willis found himself one of the highest-paid and most sought-after leading men in Hollywood.

@@dipsetforever4611 It most definitely is!
Its not really christmas before we have seen John Mclane throw Hans Gruber of Nakatomi Towers . . . ;)

RIP Bill Clay.
Lol
Such a memorable scene! As they say, "Yippee ki yay" Such an iconic film! Every aspect of it was amazing, the storyline, the characters, the soundtrack, and the action were all great and literally legendary! Decided to watch it on Christmas day again, and what a film. Hard to find anything similar these days, what a time. Such an amazing cast as well, especially with Willis in his prime. So sad to see him in the condition he is now, and hearing about the passing of Gilyard, few months back. But we can all agree on this movie and their talent will always have an everlasting legacy. If you're looking for a perfect action-packed, film; This is it! Unforgettable.

A scene that started an iconic saying, "Yippee ki yay", a saying still used a lot today that you can never get tired of remebering where it came from. Truly memorable and unforgettable. An iconic, legendary, standout, and amazing film. A film filled with so many iconic sayings like "Yippee ki yay", references about other films, actors, and much more to even mention as well as say about this film. Like its not one of those Christmas movies about joy or happiness but a Christmas film, that is filled with action which is what makes it so unique. Its a film about emotion, being a hero, fighting, against all odds and etc. Like every single part of it was amazing, the story, the characters, the music, the action throughout the film; where no matter what, you were always on the edge of your seat as if you were the character, constantly experiencing his emotion, what was occurring, his humor, the action, it was like a roller coaster of emotions that is honestly better explained if you felt it as well as watched it since you were constantly cheering him on as well as worrying what was going to happen next, and him coming out as a hero, his legacy, alongside saving the day. Like every year, I always watch a Christmas movie with my twin brother, since he always recommends new Christmas films to watch together on Christmas and when he mentioned this, which is a film we've never watched before only until now, it really goes to show how amazing it was & probably his best pick & by far one if not, the greatest action film of all time as well as Christmas film of all time due to its uniqueness. Like I honestly can't believe how this film came out in 1988, and how advanced it was for its time, especially with how great it must've been in that era. It's honestly hard to find anything unique to this type of film like what a time it must've been in that era to be alive. Such an excellent cast, especially Willis who honestly never fails when it comes to these types of films especially when it was in his prime. Sad to see the condition he is in now, wishing him all the best as well as hearing about Gilyard passing away a couple of months back which honestly makes you look back to the film and see how amazing he was. Same with Willis when he was in his prime. Like the amount of people that still watch this film and mention about it, really goes to show how much of a legacy it has, and how its by far the greatest action movie of all time. Truly unforgettable, especially every scene which was just so iconic, amazing and so much to say about this film. Like its a neverending page of words. Like if you're picking out a perfect action film to watch that will always make you on the edge of your seat filled with emotion and always focused this is your film to watch. 5 stars.
It's an old English saying from the 16th century

@@funk3nst3in Alan Rickman won’t be forgotten as well his sudden death shocked many fans not only to “Die Hard” fans but also our Harry Potter movie buffs 🎬
@@Chilloutmusix yes yes i was commenting because both rickman and willis are in the scene and the way u were talking about willis was misleading and i thought that was intentional... i am not meaning that u meant to discredit rickman at all... irregardlessly i found ur comment amusing BECAUSE it sounded like u were talking about the late great rickman but then mentioned willis at the end ahah the english language is wacky sometimes

Modern action movies need scenes like this.

Modern action movies don’t have a modern day talent like Bruce Willis nowadays.
Something iconic about that wide shot, pan over to the elevator, ding and then the line.
RIP Alan Rickman
This is the only time in the series where the line actually has some context, lol.
what does the issue mean?
@@krzysztofsobiecki2431 I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're asking.
@@krzysztofsobiecki2431 In this scene McClane chooses these words specifically to accept Hans' sarcastic challenge to be a cowboy hero. It has extra patriotic or jingoistic meaning because McClane embraces the American hero image that his foreign adversary has just mocked. In the sequels this phrase is just McClane's trademark one-liner when he kills the final boss.
@@MagicAl5F4781 Specifically it's tied to Roy Rogers, who'd say it on his 50's TV show for kids, which presumably John had watched
Agreed
That scene alone is way better than almost anything in Good Day to Die Hard. Bruce Willis has disowned it.
Benjamin Frazier 2 and 3 were more than decent sequels although obviously the first is the authentic
@@nahup944 I was talking about the fifth Die Hard movie that probably killed the franchise. Seriously, what kind of line is "I'm on vacation."?

Hans Gruber: All of you, relax. This is a matter of inconvenient timing. That’s all. Police action was inevitable and, as it happens, necessary. So let them fumble about outside, and stay calm. This is simply the beginning.

Amazes me that they almost did this movie with Sinatra and then nearly called it off. Not just this but we definitely wouldn't have the 'Die Hard in ...' genre then.
