    I know we accidentally called this gun a shotgun instead of a rifle, slip of the tongue sorry. Obviously its a rifle... NOTE: 762 was actually just the prototype name, which was changed to 760. Also for some reason we forgot to mention the semi-auto versions (740/742/7400) but we did get a 742 and will feature it in another video.

    I acquired my 760 in .30/06 after years of carrying a Remington 870 12 GA while patrolling our city streets. After completing an Officers Defensive Shotgun Coarse, and realizing the pump or slide action shotgun was a super fast and versatile weapon, I determined that the Remington 760 would be a great partner weapon for high power use.
    After leaving the department, both weapons became constant hunting companions, serving well in both wing shooting, small game and big game, providing table meat across several seasons.
    I continue to keep these two weapons in a prominent place in my arsenal.

    I shot my first moose while living in Alaska with my 760 Gamemaster BDL. Chambered in 30-06, I hand loaded a 180 grain Nosler Partition. My rifle was made in 1963, and has a 3x9 Leupold scope. Beautiful firearm, hand checkered stock, and dead-on accurate. The single-shot kill was through the ventricle at 216!yards in a driving rain. That was in 2011. I bought the rifle with the scoop on it the year prior in pristine condition for $350. Times have changed!

Only shot a couple times to glad to have it in my possessions. Also have a 742 woodsmaster both from my grandpa he used it for hunting now I do, just bought a nice Diamondback 3x9-40 for it. It had the same same scope from the 70's and held group every year except this year it was out of turn.

Belonged to my Grandpa and was past down to my Dad and my dad passed away 3 years ago.. so now its mine now, (im 20) but as a kid i was always so interested in this rilfe! My dad would always go deer hunting with it.. and this rilfe has a history of Deer now😂 probably has 30 or more kills at this point, i didn't get to hunt much when i was a kid, but i plan to get good at hunting someday soon.. Because i would be honored to get a deer with this rilfe!

    I own one of these in 30-06, a left handed BDL. Love the video but I don't think you're correct on the topic of the model being changed to the model 762. On the Remington Society website I read that two design teams were assigned to come up with two new rifles 1 pump/ slide action and one autoloader. One team worked on the model 740 and 760 and the other team worked on the model 742 and 762. While there were some prototype model 762's made I don't think any ever made it into production, ultimately the model 740 and 760 were chosen to be built, the 760 made its debut in 1952 and the 740 made its debut in 1955. The 740 had a lot of issues due to the the hard fast slamming of the action from the gas pressure so in 1960 it was replaced by the 742 which was mainly an updated 740. To my knowledge to 760 Gamemaster ran from 1952 all the way up until 1980 without a break and then was replaced by the model Six and 7600 in 1981.

    Slide action. Please if you don’t know for sure don’t say things that are not true.

    • @gunprojects5398
      @gunprojects5398  3 місяці тому

      I think you thought we were accidentally calling the 7600 the 762, which would be wrong obviously, but what we were referring to was 760 naming designation, not the next series of slide guns. When we said it was called a "762" for a period, yes, that wasn't correct; we misunderstood a history article and thought it was a brief name change. "762" was what they called the prototype, then changed it to 760. So you couldn't actually get a 762 unless it was somehow a pre-production gun. Also, we did forget to mention the 740/742/7400 in comparison. The point of the video is that back in those days you didn't have many options for non-bolt action, repeating 30-06 rifles.
