The will seeds really bug me cuz their names are all messed up. they're named after the seven deadly sins, but only 2 of them really fit - Kamoshida being Lust, makes sense, pretty obvious; and Shido being Pride, often considered the deadliest of the deadly sins, fitting for the big bad. The others though... suck. (Well, Maruki being Sorrow is an outlier since his is the 8th palace not counting Mementos, and so they would've had to make up something outside of the 7 deadly sins anyway.) First of all, the deadly sin of Sloth is completely missing. Instead, Madarame is "Vanity," which I guess is fitting, but it's not a deadly sin. Furthermore, Futaba is Wrath, even though her calling card directly relates her desire to Sloth. And Sae is "Jealousy...?" It's clearly supposed to be _Envy_ which makes this, and by extension the rest of the seeds, feel mistranslated. If it were up to me, I'd make Futaba Sloth cuz she wants to sit back and wait to die, Madarame Envy since he's jealous of his colleagues' and pupils' talents, and Sae Wrath cuz of her approach to the law, rigging the system and her boss fight's true form. I just don't understand how they half-assed that like that. If they're basing it off the 7 deadly sins, why only use 6 of them? But then... there's the last two. Kaneshiro is Gluttony, and Okumura is Greed. ... Really. Kaneshiro spends 3 million dollars when you meet him, sees people as ATM machines, his palace is a BANK with money flying through the air, and his treasure is a set of gold bars that turn out to be a case full of money in the real world, and you're telling me he's NOT Greed??? And even worse, Okumura runs a _food_ company! If any of the antagonists are even close to Gluttony, it's him. Yet the will seeds for Okumura and Kaneshiro are completely backwards! *No sane person would tell you that gluttony is about money and greed is about food!* How did they mess up the names THIS bad!?
Gluttony isn’t strictly about food. It’s about wanting more and more and more and more. For Kaneshiro, that’s money. Greed isn’t strictly about money. It’s about wanting a lot of something. For Okumura, that’s power. Futaba is Wrath because you don’t fight her at the end- you fight the wrathful distorted cognition of her mother. Game even calls the dungeon the Pyramid of Wrath. Yaldabaoth calls Vanity a deadly sin in his boss fight.. but knowing him, he’s probably trying to intimidate Joker. Sae is Envy. Idk why they call it Jealousy. Them meaning the same is an excuse. Sae is tired of the authorities cheating their way to the top, and secretly wishes she could do the same, hence why she is Envy.
