WOW!!! The redesign is what it should have looked like. It's so different than anything else out there, yet so familiar to the older version. It's classy.
Growing up watching Tomorrow Never Dies' parking lot car chase scene and Jason Statham's Transporter car chase scene my heart melted seeing to this modern rendering. The E38 has a special place in my heart.
I actually like the current 7-Series. It looks better than the 2021 S-Class and the current A8, which has an even more massive grille. I like that the lower part of the 7-Series is rather simple. The fact that it's so boxy and angular makes it so much more imposing than the new, melting S-Class. I also think it works so much better with this grille than the X7, because the 7-Series is wider and not so tall.
Hey Marwan, thank you for this amazing redesign. I personally own a 2000 BMW e38 and as beautiful I find it is, your proposal has just touched my heart. I plan to buy an other one and try to modernize it. Well you just gave me some ideas... Keep up the good work
Beautiful looking car . In my opinion , an elegant , simple , but timeless design . Still looks so elegant , and clean even today . A German Jaguar , a modern classic !
Finally. After all these years redesign of e38. Also 3:50 2001 models had body coloured side skirts and bumpers. I think, what makes e38 so thin looking is proportion of window part compared to total body. It has wider windows and narrower base part. That is what modern 7er lacks. Its looks like suv or something. My modern e38 would be basically the same as original but with some angel eyes at front. Also I would remove that weird part between doors and side skirt and those 90s looking door moldings.
Great video! It’d be cool to see a modernized 1977 celica fastback, it would probably look mustang-ish had they continued the muscle car theme for the celica
The E23 and the E32 redesign would be even more exciting. Aniway all in all you made a very good job except on the Hoffmeister's kink: It looks a bit too static. Obviously IMHO and with all due respect 👌
@@stefa_ his mustang video is a good example. He made it look way better, i think this would also be good if he modernized the e38 as well or just put more e38 aspects into the new one like making the headlights have more of an e38 headlight shape but instead of curves, have sharp shapes, something like that.
@@foivosaaaaa9507 exactly this. for instance the aero would be atrocious is this redesign. The flat and squared off front would be a nightmare, without significant air ducts or rounder edges. There is a reason why so many cars have those vertical vents at the sides. It is not just for show in many cases. And besides that, while I like the smaller grille, the whole front just looks too flat and square, and the lights look really sad and weak now. It looks like an older car that modified here and there, rather than a new car.
@@stefa_ check out what the other comment which agrees with me says. Also in order to fic something, it means that it has 0 problems, otherwise it's not a fix, it's just an alternative design and in some cases I find them hilariously bad and sloppy "fixes"
Didn't know a lot about the E38 7 Series but I've fallen in love with the classic lines of that car and cars of its generation, hopefully we will see a return to this sort of styling even if aerodynamics suffer 🤞
That will never happen, unless EV drivetrains become super efficient. Besides in many case the most recent designs just interest me way more than these old designs. Especially stuff like the recently unveiled Peugeot 308 (2021/2022 model). Now compare that to a Peugeot 306...... Just cold.
Now the redesign looks absolutely awesome :) And it took me to what I think is the problem with current BMWs (and Mercedeses). They try too hard to look sporty, even with models that have nothing to do with racing or motorsport but rather representation, status and elegance. For BMW, only the X7 tries to achieve the Rolls-Royce feeling when it comes to design, and the rest of the lineup just has to have that crazy fluid sportscar styling. And for the 7-series, that just doesn't work, and unlike the E38, I can't imagine the new model as a car that would be carrying heads of state. It is awesome that you brought that elegant, stately feel back to the design of the 7-series (though in this case, I would keep the chrome here if the car itself was darker to keep the stately feel there.) And your design kind of reminds me of how could a hybrid between second and third generation of Škoda Superb look like if it was two or three status level higher... which really speaks about how far the current design of BMWs had fallen IMHO, when in order to fix it, one has to bring it to what a supposedly low-cost brand from VW concern looks like (though to be fair, those Škodas look far better than their price tag would suggest)...
I actually am in the minority with many of the new BMW grilles, particularly on the 3 and 4 series, as I think they look alright and hearken back to the 30s and 40s BMW. I hadn't seen the new 7-series until today, and that grille looks awful. You did help it some, but I still think it's a bit large in the redesign. Also stop blacking out luxury cars; I know you don't prefer chrome, but letting personal sensibilities override the purpose of a car leads to issues - blacking out the chrome really is where you lost me on this redesign. Cheapened it a lot. I agree with what multiple others have said here, that you should have left it alone at 10:02.
congrats, you just became a better designer then the whole BMW design staff.. I seriously can't buy a new BMW, they haven't made a good looking car since the E70 first gen. SO I've been babying mine along now since I bought it... new designs since 2009 look like they hired strung out. gass huffing, Honda rice boys to come in and work on the designs.
Hm. I think you should have evoked the dips in the lights and made the kidneys smaller. I think the problem is for safety/cooling many newer cars have taller hoods. The E38 had a nice transition to a lower front end. I got why you changed the rear, but I think that decision by BMW was for aerodynamics. I think keeping that would have been fine, but do like the straighter roof. I would have been tempted to have all black lower sills, front airdam and under the rear. I also would have considered another crease half way on the car to evoke the e38 black trim.
You will probably get to see some inspiration from the E38 in the next get 7 series / i7. The prototype is already testing on the streets but even through the camo you can clearly see some similarities
Yes best series I think as well, you know it would be cool to see you do a holden vk wagon and turn it into a modern crew cab ute with a group c style body kit or something on that line, it will be awesome 😎 if you could do that thanks fan from nz
The E38 has aged so well wish BMW can bring back a clean modern design like this one
unfortunately it's gone that design where bmw's were looking agressive and not ridiculous

Agreed. Really hoping for a silhouette like this. My '98 740il needs a sibling!
In my opinion the car looked best at 10:02. Still a very good job. I hope one day you'll get to design real production cars:)
Totally agree
So many black parts on this sedans make them look like cheap plastic. Chrome in small dosis is a nice touch, don't agree on avoiding it
BMW 7 Series is one of the most coolest looking sedans ever made.

The front redesign is very slick, very clean, very elegant. So nice piece of work. At 10:03 it is just perfect.
It would be an aero nightmare though. It also looks a bit sad and not in an elegant way.

I like it much more when you comment your recorded redesign such as in this and we get less repetitive music loops :-)

In a few words: the old one was a masterpiece; the new one is rubbish.
Sad but true. My favorite was the mid-80's 635 CSI.

This model before facelift looks perfect
Can't wait to see how BMW makes a comeback in terms of design for the generation of their cars..
Very nice; so much more stately. 👍
I do actually prefer the rectangular headlights. But I truly agree this is the most elegant BMW ever.
The best bmw redesign for 7 series good job, im apriciate 👌👍👍👍
you made it look like a skoda.....
Great job! Just fixing the shape of the headlights was a huge improvement!

Nooooooo, The redesign was supposed to be on the E38 itself to give it morden features - like you did with the S Class.
Sorry but the E-38 was the pinnacle of 7-Series design. Doesn't need any upgrading.
The front ended up looking more like a Volvo, imo.
Can you please make a redesign of the C215 CL500?
Your redesign looks much better. I never liked the huge back on the 7 series.
Hello Sketch Monkey, I model cars in Automation car Tychoon and learned about line flow and graphic features from your videos 😁😁

Nice video!
The facelift came out in '98, the same year as the E46 3-Series. 👍
Literally just came in from working on my e38 to find this waiting on me. Nice work.
Thx for showing us how good the first design is finaly...
That looks sick af, it came out very well in my opinion, btw you have new subscriber
You are not even close to the e38 elegant design 🤝🏻

I can somehow agree with you for the modern cars,
but on the older cars, chrome fits nicely!
Even on the E38 7-Series!
Nice suprise on my birthday with my own car being redesigned!

That 25 year old _740i_ is so much more elegant, refined and beautiful than today's attempt.
I think it now looks to much like cross between a Rolls Royce Ghost and a Bentley Flying Spur.
