Agreed!! I put them in my big 10 of U.S. thrash bands. The big 10 includes the big 4 of Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer, of course, with Flotsam And Jetsam included in the other six along with Testament, Overkill, Exodus, Death Angel, and Sacred Reich.
What damaged Flotsam's popularity, if comparing with other thrash metal bands, like the big four, was their name. I like it, actually, but it's definitely not catchy. Now you have a band named Metallica, Megadeth or Slayer, heck, definitely captures attention. These things matter.
@@8755drb I always had my 'Big 4' different from the mainstream Big 4. I swap Slayer for Testament. As far as that goes, I like Overkill more than Anthrax.
I grew up in the 80's and I thought this type of metal music is gone now, but these guys are always loyal to what they love doing, thanks so much for still making true metal alive always, hats off to these metal legends, hail flotsam jetsam
It's a shame where metal is today. I've almost entirely converted to Drum N Bass and Techno as they've remained quite steady for 2 decades. Metal has been oversaturated with screamo-core bands and hiphop mathrock
Eric hasn’t lost a thing over the years , one of Metal’s premiere vocalists ! Flotz never disappoint , still putting out albums other bands wish they could put out ! Cheers from Canada 🤘 Flotz ‘Til Death
Well no he can't hit those high falsetto long sustain notes any more. Which not many can do after mid 30's to 40's. But outside of that solid as hell for 38+ years. Overkill is kind of the same. They've continually pumped solid heavy tracks over their nearly 4 decades. Exodus is another prime example.
I remember being a 14 year old kid and seeing these guys in the neighborhood, including their then bassist Jason Newsted who a year later became the bass player for Metallica! Fun times in Scottsdale!
Mesa, Arizona here man! Been a Flotsam & Jetsam fan since Cuatro dropped! I know it is a slower album, but it still is awesome! I remember buying the album on cassette and getting a free F&J T-Shirt at Zia Records in Tempe! Wish I had that shirt now. lol
Eric A.K. has always been an amazing talent. This tune showcases his prowess at the "ferocious growl" that most metal singers can only mimic. Using vocal power with conviction is a rare gift. F n J fan since the debut, "Doomsday For the Deceiver" Saw them at Toad's Place in New Haven, Ct. (with Prong the opening act) while touring to promote "No Place For Disgrace." An unforgettable epic show!
Saw them for the first of 2 times on the same tour in downtown Orlando, Florida at the Beacham Theater. Prongs 1st major U.S. tour promoting their debut LP Beg To Differ. I have collected every one of Flots' releases along the way & still regard the debut Doomsday for the Deceiver as their best. This was the sole full-length with Jason Newsted in the band line-up & is just a roaring monster of an LP that I consider to be one of the absolute best thrash metal albums of all time. "I LIVE, YOU DIE"...Flots til death!
Amazing!!!!!! Old progression of tunes...old style riffs......old guys playing..... but is always fresh music... fresh pure heart and blood of metal!!!! Amazing tune!! Amazing and real Metalhead music!!!!!! Flotsam is at Vanguard of true metal music!! From all the times!!
Killer song! They're definitely firing on all cylinders. Ken Mary is a monster drummer! I love that there's such an attention to melody on top of the heaviness. Can't wait to see them in concert!
Thrash is alive and well. It's competitive again like it was when it first started. The power and strength is growing before us. Good times we are living in.
to think... there was a time, right around when Drift came out, where I could sing very close to how Eric was sounding then... I eventually grew older and lost it. Eric didn't... not even a tiny bit. Hell, he's better than ever, and that's been the case every damn release Flotz put out. Benjamin Button of metal much?
You make me feel old that I've been a fan since their debut album, but "No Place for Disgrace" solidified it. And seen them 5 times. Its amazing they are still raging forward. Flotz till death! \m/
I’ve been a fan since 1986 when “Doomsday for the Deceiver” came out. I originally had interest in them due to Jason Newsted because he’s from Michigan. They sound amazing as ever. Check out the album from them called “The Cold”...it’s epic.
best song, I've ever heard form them, you can hear the experinece of a band making music for a long time together with the power and enegry of a young band.. just awesome.. hope I can hear this live soon..
I love the raw sound and power. My musical taste has gone more Scandinavian but Flotsam has been one of the few that has kep my feet ground in US metal.
Flotsam is a metal monster !!! They deserve much more !!
Yeah, real Metal 🤘 🎸 👾 monster. Great forever! 👍 🤘 🤘 🤘 🤘

Doomsday and No Place are in my vinyl collection from back in the day 🤘🤘
So awesome seeing them releasing these new killer albums
Same and agree as well
Doomsday was awesome
Dude I totally agree..he's sick!!
IMO one of the most underrated bands ever. But luckily they don't let it stop them and still KILL IT for those of us who love it!! 🤘🔥🤘

Guys from North East India in 80s 90s had great taste in music before rap and latest music took over just like everywhere else.
Gone? Never
Most of the old thrash dudes are still making strong music today,!
❤ fuck yeah I second that. I'm hooked on this band.
The new flotsam is awesome!
Flotsam is back
Ohhh my God!!!🤘🏾❤️🤘🏾
The drums are amazing. Ken Mary rules!!!
Agreed

FIFTH ANGEL!
Excuse my nerd, I grew up in Bellevue, WA. Been a Ken Mary fan since way back in the day!
@@thereallycool That is a few years back, but I have great memories of WA!

The Big Four will never touch this album! This is mastery!
After all these years....amazing.
I like... (update: Very happy with my purchase)
They’ve always deserved much more attention. Great band.
Some bands get old
Some mature
F&J matured like a fine wine......with an incredible punch ! 🤘
Flotsam and Jetsam non-stop kicking ass since the beginnings!

Echos of the power of a young Bruce Dickinson in the vocal delivery here. Very strong indeed.

Erik A.K.s voice sounds amazing! Very cliche type of lyrics but it's a catchy song. Glad Flotsam is back!
35 years later! This band still kick ass and prove that they are a cult band in the Speed-thrash Métal!!! Suffer the masses :P
