I would love to see a tournament where 8/16 card games creators who have never played Yugioh compete against each other.
Might be bit better than the ludwigs tournament
It would definitely be, since Ludwig's tournament had 3 people who actually play Yugioh, Toast and 4 randoms, all playing bad anime decks. Especially if each of them would be assigned a coach like in PogChamps and maybe some strategies, like Snake-Eyes or Labrynth could be banned to make decks more diverse.

Edison format could be funny for that, but if we could get all these people and expose them to the game, maybe get them interested in it, it would be awkward to tell them this format died, like, 13 years ago.

Her logic was always very good, better than any other guest. If she stopped for a second to consider how good a turn skip is, she would have gotten Maxxc right.
I mean, she realized Maxx C is good until Farfa gaslighted her
I mean, without knowing yugioh, even being told there's a lot of special summoning I don't think people imagine the ridiculous amount of special summons you usually do in a turn, so Maxx C doesn't read like a total turn skip, plus she doesn't know if you do nothing for one turn in this game your opponent pretty much just kills you instantly.
@@cryosen But even without knowing how common special summons are, the moment Farfa said "you activate this card, I can just pass my turn" should have set off alarm bells, because if a single card that can be activated at any point can force your opponent to do nothing, then it immediately becomes a good card, even if just for control strategies
I think she also missed the part that you can keep drawing. The way she talked about I think she thought it was max 1 draw. Neither that or a turn skip is as powerful in hearthstone but both are basically game winning in yugioh. I don't blame her for not knowing that though
@@druidt8949the thing is in hearthstone if a card read "quick effect end your opponents turn" that wouldn't be very strong. Or at least not nearly as strong as it is in yugioh.

I honestly disagree, the card is too slow to be used in anything other than the side deck, and even then its very niche compared to other options like d-barrier

@@wolfshirtawoo not true, its not live till turn end. if I set mst, then on your turn you set solem, then I activate mst targeting it, you can't solem it (not that you would, just an example)

@@GaussianEntity I told my friend who was trying to get into Yu-Gi-Oh that Maxx C was a busted broken card and they should play 3-ofs on Master Duels. Then my opponent got matched up with 2 Floo and 2 stun decks. Then he played an opponent that actually decked him out. My friend got so pissed at me and told me that I was a liar for telling him that Maxx C would get him free easy wins.

We need a tourney of Magic players and Hearthstone players playing Yu-Gi-Oh for the first time. The hilarity that would ensue.
Still boggles my mind that Maxx C isn't banned. It's like a band-aid fix to how fast the game is, and how it lacks interaction for the nonturn player, but the bandaid is made of rusted nails coated in anthrax.
and in practicality it doesn't even do what people want it to do (to slow the game down).
Oh it's not THAT bad. For example, it does allow bad decks to do better. Because a meta deck with 5 cards is gonna beat a bad deck most of the time, a meta deck with 16 cards off maxx c is also gonna beat a bad deck, so it doesn't really. But a bad deck with a hand of 10 cards may beat a meta deck. So in that way, keeping Maxx C legal does have benefits. It doesn't keep anything in check, but it is kind of an equalizer in a way. But yeah no it should be banned, the card is so toxic.
The argument of it countering combo decks Judy doesn't work. Combo decks can use it just as much and activate it when they have a full board
@@devinbannish1469 I mean that argument also works the opposite way. Good decks also play maxx c. If you get roached while playing a bad deck you pretty much lose 100% unless you play some of the very few decks that can work around it
@@devinbannish1469I'd actually wager that a meta deck opening an average hand going first against a bad deck that only has Maxx c still wins. What in the world is 13 cards going to do in war rock when you're staring down 4 material appolousa, 2 hand traps, and an omni negate?

Here's a video idea - the host will always try to convince the player that a card is good, and it's the player's job to figure out if the card was actually good...
Another thing that wasnt mentioned about Judgment is the fact that its a counter trap/spell speed 3.
It cannot be responded to, unless the opponent uses another counter trap. Which would be impossible on turn 2 since your opponent would have to set trap cards first. Unless they have Red Reboot, which is the only counter trap (i think) that can be played from the hand.
So 99% of the time, you literally just say "No" to whatever you want, and the opponent can't do anything about it

Always cool to see a player from a different card game analyse cards in a game they're not familiar with. Doesn't have to be specifically yugioh, it's just fun hearing their thought process while you know the correct answer already.
Fun fact even if you half your life points (4,000) that's still more live total than any other card game

The best scenarios I can think of for Wattkinetic are moving your opponent’s monster into your Imperm column or into a link monster’s relevant zone.

A normal summon is an action you can do every one of your turns you can summon 1 monster from your hand onto the field at no further cost except for tributing. It's one of the most valuable resources since outside of few exceptions you only get the one.
A special summon is any summon of a monster through a card effect or game mechanic.
Her thought process was really good! I would actually love to see her learn Yugioh with our resident Yugioh teacher Farfa teaching her the ropes :P Ranran 2.0 maybe?
The thing about YGO and this is answering questions to help guide omenously is that the great cards tell alot. If you have an ear you can extrapolate

With new flood gate cards and control decks, vengeful bog spirit is a great card especially with back row protection, its a staple with traptrix
imagine a world were maxx"c" is garbage and Wattkinetic Puppeteer is the most broken card ever and banned in the tcg
Would be a completely different game, but it could be rather interesting to have a card game where something like puppeteer was good.
Like, if 90% of cards interact with zones in some way and with rules like "a monster can attack directly, if the zones in the columns are empty". Basically a mix of card game and tower defense.

One cool thing about Solemn J, is that "half your LP" is based on your current numbers, so you can still use the card even if you're really low. So it's never truly a dead card, which can be a risk with other LP costs!
Yup, nothing says that you have to activate Solemn Judgement at full LP. Judgement is also really strong in older formats where Cyber Stein is legal. If you just summoned BEUD/Cyber End Dragon you can use Judgement to block a Mirror Force/Magic Cylinder and basically guarantee the kill, or you can use Judgement against the player who just Stein'd for 5000 LP, and now they're at 3000 LP with a 700 Atk monster and nothing else.

Its literally infuriating @ 23:09. It's so impressive how she reasoned through Maxx C, what ever that jobber card was after it, and solumn just to have BS comments under the breath to throw her off. Her logic is literally a cut above everyone whose ever done this.
Like if he's going to say, "you can just not special summon" then he should have said, "at the competitive level you will always go card neutral if it resolves." Cause no one just blind shotguns at a competitive level. Not to mention he played up zones like the second coming of christ when realistically there are probably less than 20 cards that actually care to the degree he's selling it and its usually format dependent with the only real exception being Imperm.
As a non yugioh fan, this video, and every video like it, including the hs ones Rarran does (a game I have played so I’m not just biased from not knowing yugioh) would make me want to shoot myself with how boring they would be if the host didn’t try to trick the player.

I think something that should've been explained about Maxx C, before or after the final answer, is that card effects in Yugioh are resolved in reverse order. Whichever card was used last gets activated first. So Maxx C always nets you atleast one card.

Farfa didn’t explain enough what crucial about Solemn is that trap card is a Counter Trap, which is very hard to go around it unless you have the same type of card.
Bringing new people into Yu-Gi-Oh right now is pretty much a doctor doing a prostate exam and you suddenly realize he has both of his hands on your shoulders.
My brain still runs on hearthstone brain rot, when I saw foolish burial I thought the way Farfa would translate it would be “send a card from your deck to the graveyard and trigger it’s deathrattle”

The only thing it would've made the nail hit harder with the Maxx "C" is if you also told her that not only does it skip the turn, Yu-Gi-Oh! duels go for about two to MAYBE three turns, so a Maxx "C" can sometimes just mean game on the spot.

Very important note. This line, and the fact that matches last an average of 2.5 turns, are 2 very important notes, that could help anyone judge cards much better. Oh, also that thenumber of summons of a deck in a turn, if they draw into their combo, moves between 5 to 50 is also important. (Yes, I do mean Dark World with the 50. That shit can summon as much as it wants.)

the trick is that every deck in yugioh is a combo deck and the game ends in turn 2.
