So it has nothing to do with your budget, it has to do with common sense jackass. Keep thinking your fluff pos JK is a real Jeep, it's not and never will be. Jeep 1941 - 2006
The Wrangler originally came with a "slip yoke" which means that, as the suspension compressed and expanded (when the Jeep went over terrain), the rear rear drive shaft "slipped" or slid to expand and contract at the point that it connected to the "yoke" (at the transfer case). This is all great and groovy until you add a lift, at which time you can very easily exceed the amount of expansion and contraction that such a slip joint can handle. To solve this problem, you add a slip yoke eliminator (SYE) which makes the connection to the yoke/transfer case solid and replace the drive shaft with one that has a double cardan joint and can expand and contract itself (commonly referred to as a CV drive shaft). Then, all the important angles stay the same and the drive shaft lengthens or shortens to work with the suspension as it travels up and down. Anything above about a 2" lift (and, really, that's pushing it) requires an SLE and sliding driveshaft. Do some searches to see more explanation. Tj’s are superior to jk’s
Me an intellectual:
A stock Toyota FJ Cruiser will run circles around either, stock or modded.
Uh...Not really. TJs were the first Rubicon models, and they were still narrow and short. On tight, rocky trails, an FJ may not even fit. Neither would a bloated JK/JL/JT.
FJs also aren't convertible.
Toyota F'd up. Their build quality is generally better than Chrysler's. All they had to do was make it a drop-top. Most people wouldn't mind the IFS. The fervor over the new Bronco illustrates that.
"If you can't afford a new Jeep, buy this one and do all this work to it." And by the time you are done, you could have spent all that money buying a new Jeep.
taking the seat out would take 20 hours with any other jeep from the rust belt lol
Yeah fellas, that was "Texturedized" lol
.....because your average home mechanic can just afford all these pricey accessories all at once, smh.
