How To Make A CAVE BEHIND A WATERFALL | Artistic Pond Construction Tips

- “The Grotto” is what we call the 8’ x 8’ x 8’ engineered concrete vault behind our waterfall at The Oasis! This video shows the “decoration” part of the process-in other words “How It Was Detailed Inside”! How the vault it was actually constructed and Installed is for another video!
- John starts out giving the team a “broad stroke” list of wants-and-needs that he would like to see inside his grotto and what it’s purpose is.
- You will then get a quick background of the two ladies John chose to be in charge of the artistic work inside of the grotto and how he know them.
- You will then hear from Lindsay & April, the gals actually doing the work, as they share a bit about what they are doing as you watch the project unfold.
- You end with after footage showing the new, artistic, natural, organic, cave-like look that has been created inside the concrete box!

The grotto is amazing! Is the dripping water from a drip line? Seems to planned to be a happy accident from somewhere else.
They installed a gravity fed drip line in the ceiling ;)

The Cave is absolutely incredible.
A lot of attention to detail has gone into that.

Well April’s company name was in the video- not sure what she is doing on socials these days. Lindsay has joined our team as of the last few years! She is beginning to open up to the camera little by little ;)

So John and April are related somehow? This grotto is the coolest and most unique looking feature I've seen in a water feature ever, and I watch every video of every pond builder that I can find. Very, very well done!

I want to know more about how everything was held securely in place, which I think you said is in an upcoming video. The stacked slate work tickles my brain so good!
They used about every kind of adhesive you could dream of LOL- what do want to know more about?
Well, I saw some kind of metal mesh I believe. That would be a good place to start. What is it, how is it affixed, etc. Did you use Tapcon screws, or stainless hardware. Not sure why I'm so obsessed with it, other than that it's freakin amazeballs cool. I happened to see Pondscapes of Charlotte interview you for their channel and hearing about how you provided moisture for everything was cool too. Thanks!@@KoiAddiction

I've been watching you and Jaak and April since the first time everyone showed up in Florida to build Kenan his pond(s). I've been badazzled and bewitched by the talent each of you bring to the table. I have said for a long time now that I believe you and April have been at the top of the industry when it comes to the detail work. It only makes sense to let her have full reign on a project like this, and Lindsey, being cut from the same cloth, is clearly the perfect choice as her partner in AWESOMENESS!!!

I always thought that a grato was simply a bunch of large boulders stacked to make a cave . This blows my mind! What creativity! Your so lucky to have those 2 incredible artists to make the coolest grato ever.

I don't care for the frog in there. I also wouldn't create any place that something could take up residence or come slithering out of. Also, seeing how the actual cave was made would've been nice instead of just the decorating part but it's very inspiring.
The “how the cave was made” video is coming. We haven’t figured out how to build aquatic paradise without attracting ALL FORMS of nature ;)
