You are the first reactors that noticed that Paul didnt “betray” Chani, he doesnt give a flying fk about Irulan and looks only at Chani. He wasnt lying, shes the only one for him, and books explain this dynamic in much more detail.
In the book Chani’s reaction is very different, and it’s made more clear that this is a political alliance only. He will never share Irulan’s bed or give her children.
@@jcs1025 yep, i know, its just that every other reactor went "OH NO, Paul bad, how could you! Muh Poor Chani!".... Although it is kind of directors fault for making it look like its such a huge tragedy, when it really isnt.
@@VDViktor it’s exactly the same reason why Leto never married Jessica…to keep himself available for political alliance.
I noticed this among all reactors who were women. Most people don't understand (or think about) that the human empire in Dune is a feudal society. Bloodline are everything in such a society. Noble people marry as a matter of political alliance, NOT love. Chani would never feel jealousy or hurt because she understands this. Paul, at this point, has captured the Emperor and seized control of Arrakis, but he has NOT captured the throne yet. To do that, he must have some legitimate claim to it that the other Houses will acknowledge. Marrying Irulan gains him that claim. Remember, the ENTIRE Landsratt and their militaries are waiting in orbit to see how this plays out. Paul and the Freman would have no chance of defeating such a combined force.
@@adaeptzulander2928 Film Chani is very clear in her view that the Fremen stand apart from that culture - bloodlines etc aren't important to them. So her despair is rooted in her own cultural attitudes, which are more like those of our modern society. It's a change from the book but I think it does a good job making the point that Paul has been changed by his circumstances, on a personal and political level.
The original plan of the Bene Gesserits was for Lady Jessica to give birth to a daughter who will be raised and trained as a B.G. and will eventually have a son with Feyd Rautha. Lady Jessica's grandson will then be fated to become the Kwisatz Haderach. But Lady Jessica gave birth to Paul (out of love for Duke Leto) and that ruined the master plan. The Reverend Mother Mohiam does not like the idea of Paul becoming the K.H. because she thinks Paul is defiant (like his father) and cannot be controlled (and she was correct) so she proceeds to plan B which is to make Feyd Rautha the Kwisatz Haderach. Aside from Feyd being vulnerable to manipulation, it is also hinted very briefly in the movie that his gift of foresight is starting to awaken (he dreamt of Lady Margot before meeting her) just like how Paul has been dreaming of Chani in the first movie. This makes Feyd a more promising prospect for the B.G. than Paul.
Feud’s gift of foresight is also hinted at given the fact he’s able to find Seitch Tabr when none of the other Harkonnen’s could ever find it
The final Atredies fighter is Landville. He was in the first movie. He’s the one that commands “Shields” when they first land on Arrakis and also he’s the one that says “Hey, stop right there!” To Stilgar when meeting with Duke Leto. He’s an Atredies general and also he’s the fight coordinator for the movie.
Seeing this in IMAX is one of my favorite films watching experiences of the past decade.
EVER
Lady Jessica against her Bebe Gesserit duties gave Duke Leto a boy out of love. She didn’t imagined he would become the Kwizatz Haderach. Although there’s no certainty there’s is a hint among the books that Jessica’s mother is the very Reverend mother Helen Mohiam 😱
actually, in one of the prequels written by Brian Herbert, it was stated that this was so. the scene even shows Helen Mohiam going to the Baron with this request, so he took matters into his own hands and "raped" her, and she was the one that had a specific disease in her system that she used on him which gave him his obesity, such to the point he had to use the anti-gravity device.
*shudder* the Baron and Mohiam...
@@kingscorpion7346 This story is so crazy lmfao
the “intention” for Paul to be born a girl was to have her mate with Feyd and then produce the Kwisatz Haderach. But Jessica disrupted this plan…and produced the Kwisatz Haderach herself.
didn’t reverend mother helen in part one literally say “you and your pride thought you could produce the kwisatz haderach”?🤔
Joy is so perceptive! I very much enjoyed watching her reaction.
I'm so glad!🥰
Joy is so smart and perceptive, she figured out a lot of details behind the plot, that are mostly addressed in the books
thank you so much! 🥰
The Fremen Mahdi wasn't supposed to be Kwizat Khadarak. That trumped the Bene Gessirit plan.
The Bene Gesserit were planning and crossing bloodlines for centuries in order to create "the One". This includes their breeding between the Harkonnens and the Atriedes. They were expecting to make The One in the next generation, but Jessica ignored their plans and had a son (so that Duke Leto would have an heir). What happened on Arrakis was part of the Bene Gesserit's plan, but it happened too soon and it didn't happen under their control. Feyd is one of a bunch of different potential candidates to be The One. They tried to kill the Atriedes family because they couldn't control them, and decided to use Feyd instead.
If you never attempt to read Herbert's five book series, it's hard to understand everything about the full lore of Dune really . . .The Benny's (BG's) - try and plan ahead for hundreds, if not thousands of years ahead. The best well trained reverend mothers of the BG 's end up as wives or concubines to the top people in the Greater and smaller Houses of the Imperium to produce the offspring that the BG's wish to have as their future breeders . . . They had their ways to entice who they wanted to create a bond to get their way - that's why they always looked at the long term. Jessica, Paul's mother was sent to Duke Leto as his concubine to produce a daughter, at least one or more - but Leto desperately wanted a son to follow him - But Duke Leto was Leto, kind, firm. but cared about his people, unlike other rulers. So Jessica fell in love with him and decided to give him a son herself - which screwed up the BG breeding line for them.
Yes, the Baron Harkonnen also had a BG wife, she was to produce male heirs to intermarry with others. Buy Feyd, as was said murdered her, his mother, basically because he was a psychopath/psychotic like the other males in his family. I can't remember now as it's been a good while since I've re-read them, but it seemed likely that the Emperor also had a BG wife/concubine, who again by BG order gave him children when they requested it - one of them being his daughter, Princess Irulan, who is also in the BG order herself.
The BG's were eventually going to produce the Kwizzy Hadderach themselves, so that they had, and could also use and control the powers that he would have . . . Jessica in having a son and also training him in their ways again screwed their hope up with that . . . Yes, the BG's themselves were trying to make a KH, so they were the main ones on Arrakis/Dune who began to promote, instil, and raise the Fremen's belief in the coming of the Lisan al Gieb - not knowing he would also be the same person, the KH at the exact same time due to taking the water of life . . . Paul becoming the KH had scotched what the BG's wanted, full control of the coming KH to do their bidding . . .
Sadly, Denis V has said that "Dune Messiah" will likely be the last film made by him in the Dune saga (Part 3) due possibly in 2026? - So, if he doesn't continue the sage - then we will miss out on, "Children of Dune", "God Emperor of Dune", & "Chapter House" (the last one being mostly about the BG's themselves) . . . With that in mind, now is the time to get the first 5 Dune books and have a good read of them over the next two years to begin to understand the lore of it all - until Part 3 might come out . . . Enjoy.
Baron Harkonnen is gay and only fathered Jessica because he was blackmailed.
Also Feyd’s mother was the wife of Baron Harkonnen’s brother.
The book takes place 20,000 years in the future. The date in the film is counted from the beginning of the Spacing Guild.
The reverend mother at the end who speak telepathically was Jessica's mother, she had Jessica from the Baron Harkonnen, but she never told Jessica because usually they don't tell Bene Gesserit who their parents are.
They don't really speak telepathically. There's a copy of younger Mohiam in Jessica's head because they're related, so they're good at guessing each other's thoughts.
In Pt 1, bene gesserit mohiam even tells Paul that he has 2 birth rights, Atreides and Harkonnen. She knew but didn't Jessica.
Paul: "Stilgar, what's this behind your ear? It's a coin!"
Stilgar: "Lisan al-Gaib!"
Paul: "Stilgar, I just used TurboTax to do your taxes, and you're getting a refund."
Stilgar: "Lisan al-Gaib!"
Paul: "Stil--"
Stilgar: "Lisna al-Gaib!"
You guys are very smart and great reactions. This is a complex movie and you guys were right on it.
thank you so much!
In part one he reverend mother tells Paul "you inherit too much power" "because i am the son of a baron" "because you are jessica's son" (because he is harkonnen too?)
The guy feyd fought in the arena is in part one he's a small role but was in most scenes before the attack.
Dune is feudal medieval Islamic Asia meets feudal medieval Europe. BTW, the witches did it their way until Leto, Jessica, and now Paul and his sister came along and brought a HUGE dose of uncertainty with them. So much for centuries of planning.
More like islamic Eastern Europe vs Russia. Baron Harkonnen is named Vladimir for a reason. The inspiration for the book was "Sabres of Paradise" which talks about the Caucasus war between Chechnya/Daghestan and Russia.
Both Chechnya and Daghestan are Eastern European and predominantly Muslim.
and trhen leto II. talk
about a reset :))
-Poor Chani. BUT, at the end of the book, lady Jessica pulls Chani aside and tells her “history will remember us as wives” she explains princess Irulan who is technically Paul’s wife, will never feel tenderness or love from Paul, and she will live as “less than a concubine”. Meanwhile the ones who the great leaders, Leto I and Paul, loved in reality were the unofficial wives.
-In Paul's holy war casualties were 61 billion lives, the sterilization of ninety planets, and the "demoralization" of five hundred additional worlds. Furthermore, 40 different religions were wiped out, along with their followers.
-Baron Harkonnen is afflicted with a degenerative disease that caused his obesity. As a young man he enjoyed the male physic and kept himself in prime physical shape.
-The un-drugged man that Feyd kills in the arena is Roger Yuan, the fight coordinator for both movies. You saw him in Atreides landing scene. He was the man who ordered "Shields!"
The Bene Gesserit have been around for centuries. They planted the Messiah legend on many planets - using their skills and also they too can sometimes see into the future - that is see different future possible paths, so one of the possible futures was Paul Maud'Dib. Jessica was suppose to have a daughter, but she had Paul instead. And he ended up drinking the Water of Life, which increased his powers to see the future immensely, and also allowed him to see all past lives of both Women and Men. The Bene Gesserit can only look into the Past lives of all Women but not Men. Paul was the Kwisatz Haderach but not the Kwisatz Haderach the Bene Gesserit wanted, and they then could not "control" him which is a big deal to the sisterhood - control.
oh wow! So the bene gesserit can see the past lives of only women? we did not know that. No wonder Paul was such a threat to them.
@@MJoy4Fun Yes, Paul could see both Men and Women. The Bene Gesserit could not go where Paul went. So it really made him a Kwisatz Haderach. But he also could see future paths based on the choices he made. But every choice he made could create a different path into the future so he had to be super careful what choices he made. This becomes even more apparent in Dune Messiah. A great film to look forward to.
Wow, you guys get it! So cool!
yaay! Thank you!
Yes bro you are the first to say this n it's correct yes your right the atomics were aimed at the mountain your Only UA-cam reactors to point this out.
thank you! 😊

Dave Baustista is Filipino and Greek descent.
So awesome to have seen this in IMAX, especially the sandworms! Didn’t like the sandworms in Tremors. Would have been fun if Kevin Bacon did a cameo appearance as a Fremen. Lol
In the book, the Bene Gesserit only allowed the Emperor to have daughters so their special man can marry one of them. That was supposed to be the son of Feyd Rautha of the Harkonnens, and an Attriedes daughter. Jessica messed that up. Until Feyd died they could of still succeeded with Alia, Jessica's daughter, marrying him.
1:57 In book, the Emperor Shaddam IV is Duke Leto’s cousin not Baron Harkonnen. Also Shaddam greatly admires Leto. However, the Emperor is very stingy about sharing power. So he won’t let something like family get in the way of removing threats.
May thy knife quote is wat fremen say before a fight.
There's a few call backs. May thy knife chip and shatter - The fremen

Paul stabbing Feyd the way he did was Gurney's finisher move in pt 1
The way Feyd stabbed Paul is the exact way he stabbed Lanville (the asian fighter in the arena)

Feyd Rautha was the movie!! Hope Villenevue does his Cleopatra thing one day, too
Austin Butler did the damn thing. Sting’s Feyd from the 1984 movie is cringe as hell in comparison.
Dune is such a great epic story. I can’t wait for the next one!
us too!
He married irulan so he can legitimise his right to rule as emperor.
Correct. By killing Feyd, and with Rabban gone, Paul is the last of both Atreides and Harkonnen, and legally the Emperor can't admit having betrayed his father, so Paul has every claim to the Emperor's daughter and being heir to the throne.
love the reaction and video just to clear up at 13:30 fremen technology is by no means primitive, its simply just better adapted to their survival, the books give a better understanding inside the sietchs the fremen are technologically very advanced compared to the setting just don't expect them to know what ixian ai is
25:43 Paul can only see his own possible futures or the past lives of his ancestors. He played a trick on the crowd by looking into his own near future and repeating what he saw himself say.
Rabban is a bad boss. Stilgar is my favorite.
If you like to read, I can't recommend the book(s) highly enough. If reading's not your thing then check out some of the very informative Dune videos on YT, because a great deal had to be left out of the movies. Quinn's Ideas, Nerd Cookies, The Lorebrarians, and Doc Sloan's Science Fiction Station all have very well done videos to explain the world of Dune. Find out about the Bene Gesserit, the Spacing Guild, Navigatiors, Mentats, the ecology of Dune (which is the ultimate point of at least the first book), the life cycle of the sandworms, and so much more.
Joy would love to read the book
Awesome reaction of my favorite superhero movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊
You mean supervillian movie?
No way to prove it, but I believe Chani is pregnant at the end of this movie and she knows or suspects. For her, this makes Paul's choice even more devastating. But she's Fremen and will not cry. I can't wait to learn where she goes and what she does in the next film.
In the book she had already given birth to Paul’s son Leto before the final battle.
In the books Chani was a big time supporter of Paul's reign. Dennis changed that to make her the sound of reason against the prophecy. She also has a few kids with Paul, so I imagine she is already pregnant at the end of the second movie. Paul said that she will come around, so it makes sense that she will feel obligated to come back when she has his kids.
@@MuadDib042 I don't think movie Chani will feel obligated. It'll be interesting to see how the story plays out in the movie.
The movie won't start filming for a couple of years. Denis wants to do another movie. Allow time for Timothee to grow older. The Holy War ends in 12 years. Dune Messiah centers around Paul back on Aarkis & the ramifications of the choices he made. Chani will bear him children after she returns to him. Being pregnant is not the reason.
@@phoenixrising8231 hunh, thought denis was still writing the script. had no idea the script/story was already this far along.
The hooks pull n sandworms can't go underground if their flaps r showing on riding the worm U use the hooks to pull the skin n that skin that's under is sensitive to sand that why it doesn't go underground cuz what the hooks r pulling is skin that's sensitive to sand it stops the worms from going underground

Chani goes from loving paul to im not gonna fight for him ..literally saves hes life 2 minutes ago
She doesn’t hate him she hates what he’s become. She says I’ll love you as long as you stay who you are
@@Pouncealot2023 itss dumb obviously he doesnt want it but he has to he doesnt have any other choise ..if u read the book ud know it makes no sense and actually spoils the second book ..
@@ilqar887 If only Chani acted in an emotionally detached, fully rational way at all times. Like people do in real life.
Why is he marrying the emperor's daughter? Because if you want to be royalty you must marry a royal to be seen as a royal in the other houses eyes.
I watched part one alone after eating some illegal stuff. It was quite the experience.
👀😂 good for you bro
dune is the spice killer, or something idk

Awesome
4:12 "the worst" like he's Pavel from IT, or some annoying office coworker. Settle down, Rabban. Jeez.
Feyd Rauthaaa
Awesome news: Tom Holland (Spider-Man) & Zendaya (MJ) are getting married 😀.
✌️❤❤!.
The marriage to Princess Irulan is political, nothing more. In the book, Paul tells her she will receive nothing but my name, not even a glance of affection. So I really REALLY hate the character assassination of Chani. In the book, she totally is on board with what Paul is doing. She is his biggest supporter of his visions, in the movie, she comes off as antagonistic of him. And so their relationship feels forced. In the book, they have a child before the events here take place, Alia his sister is already a young child.
Relate fremens as Palestinians and Harkenens as Israelis. You will find similarities.
