    I have a Massey 165 that’s been sitting and forgotten for 10+ years and it started and ran like it had been used yesterday 😮 those Perkins diesels are incredible

      Just started it yesterday. Cranked but wouldn’t fire. Needed a little either and fired up. It was 20 degrees air temp.

      @@GravelAndGritGarage it was average weather when I started it. Sunny with a cold wind. About 15*C. I didn’t expect it to start that quickly but there was still some diesel in the injector pump and fuel lines.

    It's nice to see the old girl get a second chance, I'd bet if that had a strong battery on she'd of fired right up without the booster. I had an 1135 apart for a transmission rebuild, life changed and she sat 7 years while I worked for another guy. When I got back to it I'd got the cab back and thought I'd better shove a battery on it and just try the key to check wiring. That old girl fired right up 3rd turn on the fuel that was in the filters, there was no fuel in the tank yet.
    It was nice to see your comment about not really needing either and using a small amount . I can't stand watching guys do these video's where the batterys shot all the cable ends are near corroded right off they don't even try cleaning or replacing them. They don't even try bleeding fuel, it hardly cranks as the terminals glow red hot with resistance. Then they think drugging the poor thing on a whole can of head stud stretcher, will help L.O.L.
    This year I turned 48 and been doing this kinda stuff since I was 13, so I've done quite a few tractors and backhoe loaders over the years for my collection customer machines and for sale. The best one was a fordson E27N with a Perk P6 that sat over 40 years in a yard with it's sister tractor.
    It was stuck, I got it freed, cleaned the filters as new ones are hard to find in Canada. I changed the oil there was 40 year old fuel in it that was still good unlike this 6 month if you're lucky garbage now. I used a good battery and she fired right up with no ether. The other one wasn't so easy but I got that running after 3 days messing with it, they started out together and they'll stay as a pair even if I decide to sell them later in life. they are a cool story of somebody farming with them I haven't even washed them it will spoil that unique finish they've acquired since 1950 . Take care

I have an 1150 MF that I inherited from my late dad of July 22 my massey also needs to be restored however there an animal and I think that masseys where also always the finest ag tractors on the market they are a very underrated brand of farm equipment in my prerogative of farm reliability anyway your 1100 sounds great and very powerful hope you have great luck with your massey ferguson I love my massey fergusons. The neighbors had silage cut one year by a contractor who had a fleet of Masseys including a 1080 driving the harvester. Biggest tractor I’d seen. I was a kid then in Ireland. I guess this has to be a similar same machine different market.

      1080 Massey Ferguson had a 4 cylinder Perkins diesel. Rated at 80 PTO horsepower. The 1100 we have in this video has a 6 cylinder Perkins diesel rated at 94 PTO horsepower. This tractor has an aftermarket turbo that bumps the horsepower up to around 120. Thank you for the comment.

    It's sad to see equipment set that has no real issues. Most equipment is tired when parked. I know of a JD with less than 2000 original hours 1977 model sat outside it's whole life.

    Dear Tractor companies why don’t most of you find an old lorry Frame or even rebuild a brand New Lorry Frame for building stronger and better Tractors and put those Volvo B10M, Volvo TD102KF, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel engines for those stronger better Tractors so they can still use them for any farms and even lift a broken down Bigger Buses and even broken down Lorries, why don’t you build 5 and 6 seats so that other passengers can sit at the back and front including the driver. You can still build those four stronger medium sizes wheels and still make them even more farm tractor like than it still was before, please can you do those interesting idea’s for us tractor Lovers.

    My saying is, if the block's not cracked and it's not seized, it'll start. Of course with MFs, it'll start white the block's cracked and it's seized and it's on fire and it's been sitting in a volcano for 2 billion years. Also why would you (whoever turbo'd it) put all the time and effort into turboing it when you could just buy an 1130?

    • @GravelAndGritGarage
      @GravelAndGritGarage  Рік тому +1

      It’s literally a different exhaust manifold and a turbo. 1130 and 1100 have the exact same Perkins diesel. Right down to the compression ratio.

      I thought the factory Dot 4 6354s had a nitrided crankshaft in em. That is one problem with these motors they get hairline cracks in their cranks. We were rebuilding one , non turbo, and went to get the crank ground and the first thing they did was look for cracks. We had to find another crankshaft.

    I thought this tractor sounded good for not running that long. My advice is run most of the fuel out. Then put Marvel Mystery oil in it with fresh diesel and that should do it. If not put new fuel filters on it again.
