Looks delicious Ian iv not tried polenta yet it looks similar to cooking semolina for a pudding in consistency ? The sauce was 👌I love balsamic thank you 😋Amanda xx
Thanks Amanda 😊 you can get whatever consistency you want tbh, loose or firm or in between 😊 if you let it set in an oblong dish you can make polenta chips too, it's bland without the cheese though 🧀
"I'm going to form the meatballs. They don't need to be massive, just some nice little... balls, basically." I'm so immature... 😆 Your meatballs alla norma looks fantastic, Ian. It has to be said, your dishes and getting better and better and better. Keep up the great work, matey! ❤
Hello Ian and Amanda, I just adore your sweet personalities, and last but not least your humor. You make a wonderful couple and I love that you share your cooking skills. Debbie T. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You’ve done a great job with this one Ian. Thanks so very much and I definitely have to try this as my dear mam in law was Norma. And there was no better Newcastle women than her. ❤❤.
I assume this is Jamie Oliver,s recipe,I think to many fennels seeds, why he wouldn’t mix a few into the meatballs is beyond me,rather than dipping, and Italian meatballs need milk soaked breadcrumbs, and egg or they are bullets, not to mention seasoning.I am surprised a chef would print a recipe like that,he should know better if he is going to make Italian style meatballs. As long as you enjoyed his recipe that is all that matters. You can let polenta set up,then cut into pieces, and fry it,lovely that way,try making a mushroom sauce to put on top, with a salad very nice tea time meal.😊
Are you sure you got the name of the dish correct, because Norma doesn’t sound very Italian to me but with a little bit of a jiggle of the pen, when writing it down, the name could have just as easily been NONNA which would make sense as it’s the informal word in Italian for grandma or granny, so just about any dish that has been passed down from granny becomes xxxxx in the style that grandma used to make or A la NONNA!?!
Pasta alla norma is a celebrated dish from Catania that they say got its name from the opera by Vincenzo Bellini: “Chista è 'na vera Norma!”, meaning, “This is a real Norma (i.e.: masterpiece)”, is what the famous Catanese comedy writer Nino Martoglio exclaimed when he tasted it.
Love this one 👍👍👍
Thanks Carol 😊

Hi Marilyn 😊 thanks so much 🙏 😊 xx
Looking really delicious, Ian. I could just eat it now.
Thanks Jean 😊
I’ve only had polenta once and I really didn’t like it. However, that looked lovely and I love Parmesan. Maybe it’s time I tried it again. xxx
Thanks Lyndsey 😊 it's quite bland by itself, definitely a lot nicer with cheese 🧀 😉 xx
That sauce looks devine,
I would eat it as is, would make a good italinao soup base, shame we don't have smelly vision!! 😊
Thanks Neil 😊
Isn’t polenta served like mash quite thick just wondering?
Hi Jacky😊 I think it can be served in different ways 😋
@@BeddyEatsFoodaye Ian you’re right , it can also be set sliced and fried

Hi Janet 😊 I quite liked the fennel seeds to be honest 😊 had polenta set up way before found it a bit bland, but there was no cheese in it 😊
Have you ever cooked it taste tested a meal you disliked ?
Hi Jennifer 😊 no because we cook things we like, otherwise it's a waste 😊

Aubergine
@jennifermharvey9882 I did it this way to get as much water out as possible, resulting in it getting a bit crispy 😋
