THank you
What shape is this knife I need a template to try it out for myself!
beautiful knife and great idea how much would you charge to make 1 please thanks
Awesome
would love 1
I finally received this beautiful piece of art from my father. It’s hard to describe what it means to us... The quality is second to none. Thank you so, so much for creating this for me!!!
I'm happy that you like it and it was a joy to create. I hope you enjoy it for years to come.
Christ only took almost a year
@@theriversexperience9383 you done a really great job .I have seen many of knifes made from a file but this is by far the best one that I have seen on utube .
you're a extremely lucky lad.
congrats 👍
Wow, I can only dream of someone making such a beautiful thing for me. I hope it gets passed down to your great, great, great, great grandchildren and further.
That is possibly one of the coolest knife builds I have seen on here. Well done and thank you for sharing!
One million views and 1.6k comments on my favorite knife! I’m so proud of you son!
Astounding workmanship! Truly a heirloom and doing justice to the heritage a tool can have!
I really like how elegant it looks from the side. I thought it would look big and fat with that beefy file, making the handle thick. You made it work perfectly! Nicely done!
This knife is awesome, I had seen lots of knives making videos but only commented on this video so far, its because I love this knife and enjoyed seeing you makes this knife. Thank you
Beautiful knife , love the shape. Definitely something to be proud of.
Great work! I love that you highlighted the character of the original heirloom tool as part of the design! A terrific three-generation treasure.
Who couldn't love that knife. It's gorgeous, well done!
Very nice knife, and what's catching MY eye, is the shop! Tidy, neat, arranged, very pleasing to see!
It's not just you - it actually is awesome. Very beautiful piece. I also like how you preserved some of the old file on the blade as a reminder of its history and its previous owner.
Two thumbs up!
So much knife making content on UA-cam anymore that it’s really hard to make a knife stand out in the crowd. Well you got my attention, absolutely beautiful craftsmanship.
Beautiful knife, I love the thickness of the tang and the pattern of the file. Thanks so much for sharing. I started a small file knife about a year ago and got it ready to heat treat, but stalled on it. This is helping me get back on it.
Cheers
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
I carve, create and build as a professional woodworker, so I’m a pretty skilled maker myself, and I gotta tell you: good job man! That was an awesome build and the final result was absolutely gorgeous! Your creativity, skill and workmanship are top notch. You have the right to be so proud of your work. You deserve great praise... Beautiful, just beautiful!👍
That knife is the most beautiful knife i have ever seen in my life...the shape, color, handle...everything...i'll be dreaming to have one.
Fantastic. What's amazing is you made use of an old file and made a durable beautiful knife.
That is pretty damn sweet and the fact that it has meaning makes it even more spectacular. Nice work
I am a knife Smith, wanted to say this knife is something to be proud of.
same here
That’s truly beautiful. I love the way the texture fades into the knife face
Wow in my 50+ yrs of playing with knives that might be the most beautiful knife build ive ever seen. Great job wonderful work.
Very nice job. Definitely a father to son hand-me-down that can run for generations.
Really like how you left the file markings on there, and that grain of the Zebra wood contrasting the laminate, very cool for sure, great knife!
Just diving into knife making. This knife is beautiful, man! I love that you left the file design as it also serves as a cool memorial to the history. Great job
A few words about this knife. Amazing, incredible, stupendous. Seriously that is one hell of an heirloom piece. I hope the kid appreciates the level of craftsmanship that’s in it. Great job!
I'm normally partial to layered steel but this was a nice piece. And great idea as an heirloom.
Really a beauty. Impressive free-hand-sharpening skill
I work with knives almost everyday. It looks beautiful!! The knives I have of this type metal part of the handle is a little thinner so as to keep a closer balance. I know the will never be in perfect balance, however, trying to keep it as close as possible without giving up on the handles look. It is nice looking and well designed knife thank you sharing!!!
That is a beautiful repurposed tool into a blade! Thanks for putting this on line!
Id love to do this with one of the files i got from my wife’s grandfather. He was a union boiler maker and then a union electrician later in life. I inherited a ton of his tools including a plethora of files.
That is a really fine knife that would be much appreciated, and a very fine hand it down. My most sincere compliments!
Thumbs way up! Fantastic job. It meant so much to me to have a hand made knife and sheath passed on to me as a teenager. Unfortunately, it was stolen in a burglary as an adult. These treasures pass on more than a quality knife. They pass on love and the effort shown that stays with you for as long as you own it.
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing and mentioning the materials.
the handle is outstanding
I can't get enough of file knives!! Awesome work, Erick!!
Excellent material and workmanship. Worthy of a collection. Thank you for sharing.
That is a thing of beauty
Truly a work of beauty
Absolutely gorgeous!
That's a BEAUTIFUL knife! You picked the perfect shape for that thick old file! It screams high quality vintage craftsmanship you can't get from a factory. ✌️
looks great some modern things on it and itll still be timeless and look nice for years to come
THAT is a perfect knife. I'd love to see it with a nice quilted maple handle or something with a lot of chatoyance.
Apart from the music bringing back to watching Southern Comfort, lol, the quality craftsmanship of this knife was beyond outstanding.
I'm in love with that knife. Gorgeous!
Beautiful knife and 1st class workmanship. Love your shop.
Awesome job! Looks great! The blade was a little short for my tastes, but that's me. I'm sure the son will love it. 👍
I knew you were my kind of a craftsman when you said "about a 30th of an inch." Nice design and a good looking keepsake. Keep up the good work. Thanks for the vid.
Beautiful looking knife.
Love watching this kind of work.
That’s a beautifully made knife...that file design is awesome.
This knife is epic! I’d be stoked for my dad to pass that onto me !
great job. i just wish if i knew about this type of hobby back a few years ago, i might be making my own. sorry i missed that window. arthritis. its a bummer
Wow, great craftsmanship and you make it look doable!
Beautiful knife! I really enjoy watching these videos, as I find it thoroughly therapeutic. Thanks!
It would have been super cool to have seen the reaction from your friend when he seen it. Super cool knife.
Who the hell are the thumbs down people... I’d really love to see their craftsmanship.
How do you even see the thumbs down number? 🤔
Great video and nice knife. I have made a few file knives but my heat treatment is tempering in the oven only as the files are already hardened. I mostly use farriers rasps provided they are not case hardened. Thank you for sharing your work
Beautiful knife! I love how beefy it is.
I wish I could afford a knife like that with an all macarta handle on the grip slabs for my EDC. Great looking knife. Thank you for making and sharing the video. Subscribed
If you ordered one one from me, it wouldn't be ridiculously priced. Look me up on Instagram and/or Facebook. 😊
I have some of my grandfather's old files and would love to meet a knife for my daughter. Great idea, thanks for sharing.
One of the most beautiful knives I've ever seen. You're right to be proud.
A very pleasant shape of the blade and the handle, I like that you left the patern of the file on the blade, it looks good but most of all I like the handle, the colors, the shape and the finish, they are all perfect for my eyes. Thanks for the video
You, sir, have some skill! That is one damn fine piece!
ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IS A BEAUTIFUL KNIFE RESPECT!
Daggum I love this, thank you for the inspiration. I’ve just dipped into knife works, and so much to learn, but this was such a wonderful video to watch. My next knife will be something similar.
Love the beefyness of that blade.
Really blew me away, watching it from start to finish, I'm envious.
Excelente trabajo , saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
that's amazing, just amazing. would love to own something so fabulously crafted.
WOW, THAT IS ABSOLUTELY A BEAUTIFUL KNIFE!
That is hands down the most beautiful knife I've ever seen.
Wonderful beauty. Finishing a knife is very beautiful. It is nice to have such a knife. I hope you have a beautiful knife like this. Thank you, brother
Amazing piece. I'm making my first ever file knife now. It's an old file and man that is some hard steel. Grinder needed!
This is a beautiful knife and perfect in every way
I'm willing to trade my wife for that knife. she has a strong back and good teeth.
HAHA, this is an amazing comment!
But can she catch a chicken? That's becoming important these days, lol
Teeth are overrated 😉😉😉
Shane Van Wyk thats the reason why he still has his own teeth
mines got a crook back and no teeth she cant bite ya but shell give ya a nasty suck !! luv the knife brilliant job she a work of art !! thanks old mate!
Job well done 👍. Well done indeed
Thank you!
I was very impressed with your work making this knife, I would love to have one like this except for the handle. I like the basic looking wood on the end near the lanyard hole. very nice knife.
Spectacular knife. Absolutely amazing creativity and craftsmanship. 👍
Отличный нож, спасибо вам большое за работу
What a nice way to keep a family heirloom. Different job for the tool but the "soul" of the piece has been past down...
Great job! I like the horizontal sheath too, nice touch.
Gorgeous your freehanding is second-to-none Sir
Thank you!
Hello, if you come to Argentina someday bring a knife like that and I buy it for you. Very good work
I would be very proud to own a knife like that
You gotta love American craftsmanship. Job well done.
Great job, it came out looking beautiful. A very nice family heirloom.
What a beautiful piece you made there, when your clients ask for a knife how many days o time do you need for deliver the piece? Love your work. 🔪
Thank you! It really depends on the design of the knife and the difficulty. I try to make sure I leave enough room in my time estimates for life stuff to happen, if I get it done before that then that's just a plus lol.
One 4 me to...
Yeah, I didn't see the annealing and was like, "Damn, I want whatever drill bits those are the drilled the pin holes!!!". Very pretty piece! Any PDF of the profile available? That particular profile looks great for these file knives that are made from thicker steel. Very nice.
I haven't made any PDF's yet but I plan on it. I will let y'all know when I do.
That's probably the best file knife I've seen. Style and quality wise.
I bought a couple file knives from museum replica and the handles fell off after a month on both of them.
If I send them to you can you fix them 🤣
Great job. Several great ideas to turn an old / worn out file in to a work of art, well done...
This knife felt sharp even before it was made.
Stunning knife dude but... please lower the volume of the music. No problem with the actual banjo ditty itself rather it's just a little too loud so that it distracts a little
This is the first video of yours for me, but definitely not going to be the last...
You created a tastefully beautiful and robustly functional piece that has me inspired 💯💯
Thank you for the great content
This knife reminds me of knives made by Anza....one of my favorite knife companies. You sir make works of art.
Shes a beauty. Your very good at that trade.
hi, i really like the design of the knife, you could give us the patterns please
I fell immediately in love to this design 😍
Very nice craftmanship on that bad boy! Great video also thanx.
Should have read your coment further down about you tempering the steel 🥴
Did you soften the file before you started grinding?
Yeah I annealed it. It makes it way easier to work with and drill through.
@@theriversexperience9383 Cool! Thought you did;)
Beautiful. You video makes me want to accelerate the completion of my wood shop and incorporate some metal working tools into the process. Thank you for the video.
