- Join me as I play through the third game in the Nancy Drew game series: Nancy Drew- Message in a Haunted Mansion! Admittedly, I do not know this game very well, but it was still so much fun to record this playthrough and work my way through a few absolutely ridiculous situations.
Nancy Drew travels to San Francisco to help Rose Green (a friend of the Drews' housekeeper, Hannah Gruen) with some renovation work in an old Victorian mansion that is being converted into a bed and breakfast. But it appears there are other guests invited as well- ghosts from the past. Strange accidents are slowing progress on the renovations and it's up to Nancy to figure out who, or what, is trying to scare everyone away.

Such a fun playthrough! It’s definitely easy to mix up Chandler and Chandelier. I’m pretty sure his last name was supposed to allude to the end.
I think that's why I called him the wrong name throughout almost the whole playthrough 🤣
Enjoyed your playthrough! And hoo boy, that was a scary last little bit when your ruby disappeared! Never seen that happen before. 😅😅😅 Glad you had a save file available!
I didn't even know that glitch was possible- oh the horror!!! 💀
Yeah, I NEVER knew that painting blinks until I watched TravyJ's playthrough!
Also, it was years before I knew that we could look at the roses in the parlor and then there's a dialogue option with Rose.
I stumbled upon that by accident over the summer! It's so subtle it's easy to miss
I'd never heard of that ruby glitch! OMG!
Me neither! I was so startled when it happened!
As far as I know there's no way to hear Abby's voice on the tape, but there are scenes in the games files (might be on YT now), that show the scéance without the voice modulation.
Oh sweet, I'll have to look that up!!
You're correct about the burned letters. If you look at the side drawer of the desk with the phone at the beginning of the game, Rose has letters there to a friend about her reno project. I've never understood WHY the letters were burned. Like, was it just for extra kindling, or...?
That's what I thought! Maybe it was to make Rose look suspicious?
"Charleena Purcell, eat your heart out." 😂😂😂
The convo between Rose and Abby continues if you move. You'd have heard it clearly when you zoom in on the grate. I always love the eavesdropping in these games like in White Wolf and Venice.
Good to know! I was so worried I'd move in the wrong direction and I'd stop the conversation!
It's funny; every playthrough of this game that I've watched has the player complaining about that tangram puzzle, but I never had any trouble when I played it as a kid, so I was surprised at ppl's reactions. Also, you're the first one I 've come across who doesn't feel the nostalgia of this game, so that's a cool perspective!
Not for lack of trying, I searched for MHM for years and could never find it! I don't mind the tangram puzzle, but when I'm trying to move quickly I can never seem to not struggle with it
When I watched Half Moon Joe's playthrough, he couldn't figure out what Louis's username was b/c the game didn't provide it like they did with Millie's; that's one reason why I always try to play games in order.
I'll either play them in order and marathon them, or play the ones that are speaking to me at the moment- there is something lovely about playing them in order
I think Louis is only triggered that first day once you talk to Rose about his laptop.
I'm reading Kelly Barnhill's book When Women Were Dragons and it's all about feminine rage. Just thought I'd share that since that article in the basement incites that type of rage.
Ooh that sounds like an interesting book! I think those articles do a great job of showing what it was like to be a woman back then- thankfully we've made some progress since then!
I've never understood the whole "sparks from the fireplace" There's never a fire lit in the parlor, so how could there be sparks? It's unused!
Right!? Anything to blame Charlie 🙄
