Curious i have a friend who served in the army who i think would be an amazing person to have reacting to this with the two gentleman in video how does the process work?
2:33 Nuke was detonated high enough into the atmosphere, that the EMP was the only thing to effect equipment on the ground. Captain Price, on TF141, did that to even the playing field.
The President and his entire Cabinet are important. If the Commander in Chief gets killed, the Vice would replace him or his Secretaries. Captain Price may unintentionally committed friendly fire but he did save a lot of lives there and now he's being criminalized for disobeying orders.
A buddy of mines served in the marine corps and fought in the battle of fallujah he seen and done a lot and even showed his scar he sustained in the battle took a round in the gut which led to his retirement.
The nuke went off mid air. When that happens it trades raw destructive power for a more emp like blast and much more area coverage. So instead of mass casualties there is a nock down of all tech. Turn a battle into a real nasty slug war if both sides are still good to roll. Rads can still pose a issue depending upon altitudes and how large the boom was. So if it was above u then it’s gonna be all the ouch
Clarification: According to nuclear doctrine, you aim for an atmospheric detonation (aka Mid-air detonation) instead of a ground detonation in order to maximize the 'Air Effect' of the detonation. this is why the Little Boy Fission Bomb detonated at ~2000 feet altitude, and the Fat Man detonated at ~1650 feet altitude. The nuke depicted in CoD is specifically an Exoatmospheric Detonation, aka Space Detonation. An example of a real-life equivalent to the CoD Nuke depicted that achieved drastically less dramatic (but still significant) damage would be the Starfish Prime test which detonated at 250 MILES altitude, and produced an EMP that damaged Hawaii 900 miles away from the detonation Epicenter.
I think if, in the sequel to Modern Warfare 2019, they have a part of the game where your gear gets EMP’d, it would be really cool if you could flip up your BUIS and have to use them through like a fried EOTech or something.

I was pissed when you pick up a gun with an ACOG, they took out the illuminated reticle because they thought an ACOG is battery powered. The ones used by the military has a tritium insert
The 4x32 ACOG LED-Illuminated Riflescope from Trijicon features a battery-powered LED illuminated ballistic drop compensation (BDC) reticle and a durable waterproof housing to create a versatile weapon sight that is well-suited for use in a wide range of weather and lighting conditions.
Gamology, I need you to run by the idea of having the military guys listen to the Radio chatter during the assault on Washington to the guys. I need this. The amount of dopamine that that video would give me is astronomical
Well, thanks to Cam's very in-depth explanation of a frag drill I now know what to expect if I'm a barricaded shooter and the Rangers come after me. They'll still kill me with extreme ease, but at least I'll know what to expect.
It's crazy to think that these two charismatic, fun loving goofballs are literally trained savages who have had to do things overseas that would probably break 99% of the civilian population. Y'all are awesome.
The areas a high-altitude nuclear explosion. The American Starfish Prime test in 1962 had similar results. A 1.4 megaton nuclear bomb was detonated at an altitude of 400 km over Johnson Atoll in the pacific, The test was 1,450 km from Hawaii and still blew out street lights, set off burglar alarms, and fried the telecom dish connecting Kuai to the rest of the archipelago. The high altitude radio burst would go on to fry several satellites in orbit, including the UK’s first, Ariel 1. There was minimal explosive damage, considering it was 300 km above the Karman Line, but it’s effects over a large area of the Pacific were very illustrative of the power of an EMP attack.
Nukes also have an EMP function, and atmospheric changes from the heat expelled during the explosion, which is why it starts raining so heavily from the heat, and thunder from the ionization of the atmosphere, in the mission.
Oh Cameron watching Israel do those push-ups were quite satisfying indeed I just wish that it wasn't speed it up I wanted to enjoy every moment of it along with them.

Fun fact, if you’re close enough for your optic to be fried by an EMP from a nuke then you would never know because you would also be fried by the blast of the nuke. Unless your optic has an antenna the size of a telephone pole.
Yeah, that's something (one of the many things) that CoD got wrong. EMPs won't fry your basic cell battery electronics, like flashlights or powertools. Anything with an antennae or a computer is going to lose function, though.
