      @rickylee123 hey Ricky. That will mean that your centrifugal clutch is bad. The clutch pack in the rear is likely ok.
      You will have to pull the rear plastics and side cover. On this side (right side) the clutch is very easy to replace. I believe it has a counter clockwise nut on the crank you will need to remove and it slides right off.
      I would recommend a suzuki one. My aftermarket one i installed detonated and i had to replace it with the suzuki part after anyhow. Good luck !

    Oh My Lord!! My 30 year old ATV just turned back into a Rocket! I can not believe it - she had started slipping to the point where I thought I had burned the clutch up (after all, it has been 30 years). And with this, whew, she's back to working and it was probably 30 or 40 minutes even with a relative novice like myself.
    Also, thank you for the excellent overview of how the centrifugal clutch works with the main clutch pack, and how to adjust. Thanks so much!

    Thank you so much for posting this video. I offered to fix a friend's 1996 suzuki quad, the clutch was slipping badly, especially just starting up. Honestly I thought primary (centrifugal) clutch was shot and I'd be looking at new clutch plates, etc. ATV shop told him it was his fault for not running correct oil and everything had to be replaced. So I did the adjustment like you said, as a first step just in case it worked, and man it worked like a champ. I literally fixed his atv in 15 minutes lol. Unbelievable! This thing was slipping horribly! Really liked how you explained how the clutches worked, and your process of fixing it was just awesome. I've never worked on an atv before, but have fixed my own vehicles and small engines my whole life, so it was very easy to follow along with what you were saying. Thanks again man you rock!

      Set screw did not appear out of adjustment even though I don't think its ever been touched. Clutch was slipping in high load situations like when I tow a york rake to smooth our driveway. I don't recall the machine ever doing that in the past which led me to think the clutch needed adjustment. Took it for a ride after checking it and it ran great but I have not towed the rake with it yet. Thanks for the video.

    Hi, just want to let you know that your video avoided me sending my quad to the shop. My new to me 2004 KG 300 (yes that year model exist in Canada) was starting to have a sluggish performance when cold in the middle of winter. The engine would rev but would have a hard time moving forward. I had to put it in 1st gear super low for 2-3 minutes then changing gear every couple of minute until it was hot. I thought it was because of the weather. Now that it's hot outside, it still had the same issue... Yesterday I adjusted that screw (it was too tight) and my bike is now working like it should! Thanks again for your very informative videos!

      Great to head Ian. You are running tbe proper JASO oil in it i suppose? I had one with regular motor oil in it when i got it and the clutch slipped. I swapped it for good JASO oil ( rotella 15 40) and it stopped slipping.

      @@Schneids15 I did one 1 oil change with some Castrol Syntec 5W50 about 15 years ago before I really did some research into what oil to use. It did slip then when cold so I changed it out, and for the next 10 years I used RT6 5W40(JASO rated) which pretty much eliminated slip for many years, but eventually it started slipping when cold again. Lately I switched to RT4 15W40 in my tractor and the ATV as its got a bit better HTHS numbers and usually my coldest starts are -15 or so. I didn't realize that the secondary clutch was adjustable until I watched your video.

    Any recommendation on what could be causing my reverse to go away after a few engagements while plowing snow. Initially it will give a nice solid engagement when moving the lever then gradually each shift into reverse gets softer and will not initially engage. If I rock the machine left and right while giving it throttle it will eventually engage and perform fine until I have to repeat the process. All forward gears engage solidly and perform fine.

    Hey man. I have a 2000 king quad. When idling I hear a pining or thumping noise coming from the clutch side of the motor. I’ve held a long screwdriver by the oil sight glass to confirm it’s coming from that side. When I put it in gear, forward or reverse, it goes away. Any suggestions. My uncles 96 king does it also but not as loud as mine.

    hi, you seem like you know about this suzuki, i was watching your vids since i bought a quad, would you help me out please, Quick question please , i had issues with starting the bike it will no longer electric starts, so i used the pull start which i never used before and its so hard to pull almost impossible and im a strong built man, very very difficult to pull i dont want to break it, so i removed the spark and tested to pull start pulls easy ofcourse, i tested all the electrics, found out the started is dead,
    question is: is there an issue with my bike that im not able to pull start or is it normal that its hard to pull? , i bought a replacement starter kit, should i repair and go back to starter motor starting, im afraid brushes might get damaged quick again because of some other problem in the bike.. i have a LT-4WDX Suzuki kingquad.

    Great video. Question: One of the 3 nuts that surround the center bolt of the clutch cover of my quad fell off and is spitting oil when I ride. The bolt is either so recessed or missing. Do I need to take the clutch cover off or can I tap that hole and insert a bolt to keep oil from leaking out?

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Barry, i would verify if the bolt fell out or not. If it did find a good metric bolt likely a m6 or m8 i can’t remember how big those are. Ideally throw a new bolt in. If it was me i would pull it off only if i had to. Then again i would not tap it while the cover is on. I would remove it.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Mat, if you are having issues you can richen it. Once you are warmed up you should be fine and it will run fine. I usually just bump my idle screw up a bit to help it out in running when very cold.

    Hello Schneids15, great video once again. Based on your explanation of the two clutches, which was exactly what I needed to hear about, it sounds like I have a centrifugal clutch issue. When I first start the quad and hit the throttle when in gear, the quad will not move, no matter how much throttle I give it. If I let it warm up a bit for like 5 to 10 minutes it seems to be better, but not perfect. There is a delay in acceleration when changing gears and you have to ease on the throttle to get it up to speed. What are my options for dealing with this centrifugal clutch issues? Replace? (where do I find that?) Repair? (parts?) or will I need a parts quad to get one out of? Your help and opinion is greatly appreciated. Oh and just an update, Royal Distributing, I was able to get the $75 starter to replace my old one I was tapping to get started. Cheers! JM

    What would cause one to take gas in numeral but if you put it in gear and give it the gas it kinda just like acts like it ain't taking gas but sometimes If you floor it it will go and stay but if you stop you have to floor it and it may go but sometimes it will just kinda like bounce and act like it ain't getting gas and tries to die out

  • @phillips321

    Hi there. Quick question from the U.K. if you don’t mind. When idling in neutral my quad bike doesn’t creep forward. However if I lift the gear foot selector to put it in first but hold the foot selector up the quad bike will creep forward slowly. Does that mean my secondary clutch needs loosening? Or is that normal?
    I guess my idle is also too high as the centrifugal clutch is engaging a bit.

    • @Schneids15
      @Schneids15  3 роки тому +1

      I would say that is normal. You can usually feel it go into gear. I have never jacked mine up and put it in gear to see if it will move the tires a bit in neutral or not. If the idle is high the centifigal clutch could be grabbing a tad bit.

    Hello Schneids! I’ve got a 95 King Quad 300..periodically my bike will shift into gear but won’t move anywhere. I can hear a grinding/whirring noise in the back end when this happens that will increase in rpm when I shift into higher gears. I can rock the quad back and forth for a bit and eventually get it to engage and I can rip on it again. The issue can happen in pretty much any gear, and while driving. While driving it will all the sudden act like it kicked out of gear and go into neutral and the RPM will shoot up. Would this be a rear clutch issue since I can hear the noise in the rear and the rpm of the noise changes with the gear change? Thanks for the help!
