I'm very impressed with your shed. I have a small herd of kashmir goats in Mongolia. They are a very resilient breed and most herders don't provide any shelter. Goats and sheep generally graze on common land which is plentiful in Mongolia. They find their own shelter in harsh weather. We only own 2 acres roughly but have access to millions, if we chose to do so. So far, we just picket the mums (does) now, and rotate them around our land or nearby, so the kids stay close by, we think it would be nice to build them a small shelter of some sort. The fly in the ointment is that we live on a rugged mountain side. The gentlest slope is about 10 degrees and the steepest about 15-20 degrees. It is grassy terrain with embedded rocks and larch forests on the northern slopes. I'll probably make a simpler lean to shelter that rests almost down to the ground on the uphill side with posts at the front to create the lean angle. The frame, such as it is, needs to conform to the slope angle. I'll probably add side panels to cut the wind, rain and snow from 3 directions.
How many goats fit into that shelter? We have Kiko goats in Kentucky and we want to put them into different pastures but as you've said we need to keep them dry and out of the elements.
Thanks for visiting our channel! The sheds are 10'x10'....Ive seen a 10 or so in them when pouring rain. Normal weather they dont prefer to be that close-quarters.
Thanks a bundle! Appreciate the comment. Our herd never tried to chew on the wood more than a bite or two. I think the treated lumber must taste bad or something because they never chewed on them much at all.
The walls and rafters are all 2x4s with 1x3 strips for the tin roof, and the runners (skids) are 4x4x12’s. The shed is 10’x10’ with 1 ft roof overhang. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Excellent design.
@@twc9000 thanks!

Thank you very much for the kind words! Best of luck to you with your herd!
New to goats here in oklahoma. I appreciate your video
Thank you kindly!
Way cool. I plan to build one to reduce the wear and tear (and urine) in my barn.
Thanks so much! Thanks for stopping by our channel and for the kind words....much appreciated!
Awesome thanks for sharing. This was very informative and gave me a better perspective.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video
Thank you much!
What's the dimensions. I am gng to build one tomorrow. Or when this Arizona wind calms down.
Ours are 10x10 ft. But you can build to whatever your specific needs may be

I like your design. My goats eat any exposed lumber. Is the treated wood toxic to them?

Can you give a list with dimensions of the lumber used?

Are your studs 16 or 24 on center.
Dimensions and plans available?
We dont have drawn plans/dimensions but the sheds are 10' x 10' square and then sides are about front 5.5' and the rear 4.5' . Hope this helps!
Great video! We're looking into getting goats so I may be building something very similar. Subscribed!
Thanks!
