- This is a follow up video to my review of the Danby 3 in 1 portable air conditioner 12,000 BTU inverter compressor.
I received many questions about the Danby 3 in 1 Air Conditioner and decided to create this FAQ for the most common ones: Is my Danby 3 in 1 too noisy? Is the Danby 3 in 1 Supposed to drain this much water? How loud is your Danby 3 in 1 air conditioner.
As far as portable Air Conditioners go the Danby 3in1 is the quietest portable air conditioner I have used and also the most maintenance free. - Розваги
Question about a water leak on the right side, facing the unit. I am using the top drain with a hose into a container t drain. This is connected all of the time while running.
Sounds like something inside isn’t connected properly or is broken if it’s leaking out of the unit and you have the drain open with a hose connected. Unfortunately I would recommend returning it if this is the case
well, I like in a place that has dry climate, not generally alot of humidity. I have a danby like yours and I have a hose extending from the top drain into a pail for just in case. mine seems to drain after it is turned off, mostly, and the most I was getting was 1/8 of a pail maybe, a small bedroom garbage pail. Last night, it must've drained all night because the pail was FULL to the BRIM today. I was shocked beyond belief. It went gangbusters. Not sure why but this thing DOES drain! holy cow.
For sure, and that will help keep your unit running continuously by draining it. If the drain had the plug in, your unit would have run a dehumidification purge cycle and blown that water out the exhaust as Vapor, but the compressor shuts down somewhat while it’s happening so it’s not ideal.
great info
Glad it was helpful!
Do you have issues with those tiny clips not having a good seal anyway? Looks like light bleeding through so it's definitely not sealed.
Absolutely. You are right. Even before the clips broke the seal wasn't great. Anyone using it like that long term will want to duct tape it regardless.
Excellent
Cheers dude! Where’d you get yours? Princess Auto or Costco? I just got a new similar Danby from Home Depot for another review but the bugger cost me almost $900. Costco has them for $550, princes auto has refurbished ones for $250!
I had the same unit but I don't understand the remote and I don't have the papers for it can you explain the functions of the remote and doesn't have the follow me function thank you
Sorry somehow I missed this comment! I checked mine and don’t see a follow me function but if you’re still having problems let me know and I will try to walk you through it
Fhank you for this
You're felcome! :)
Hey! Is the exhaust needed for a sliding door like you have? I just twist the big retractable pipe so Im wondering if Im good?
Hi I’m not sure what you mean, do you mean you just stick the hose out the door without the black plastic? That should work!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Just didnt use the adapter piece that allows the hose to be horizontal, instead the hose vertically fits right into the board hole, hope its okay
@@abcdef-lk9kf ok gotcha! Yes that’s totally fine, might even be better less clips to potentially snap. Good talking to you!!
how do you compare this to the midea duo dual Portable AC unit?
great question! I haven't tried that one but i will now! Currently testing out a HiSense model
This was actually very helpful mine does not sound like that at all 1:06
Happy to hear it! What does yours sound like?
you get the same cooling on low fan setting as high?
Yes BUT only if I leave it running in snowflake mode on low fan continuously
Hi, great video
May I ask how long the planes can get?
I have a 36 inch window but I’m not sure if it fits!
Thank you this one came with 3 panes for a total of 60 inches so you should be good to go if you get the same one
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Awesome!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Hey man, guess I suck at converting cm to inches! My window is about 75 inches but it looks pretty similar to yours... You think is there any way to makes it work somehow?!
@alt_423 for sure you can make it work man, it just ain’t pretty ha ha! I had a larger frame than this at my last place, I bought a plastic container tote from the dollar store and used a hack saw to cut the lid to the size I needed to make an extra panel. Duct taped it all together. Looked ghetto but worked great. Was desperate to stay cool, place was so hot.
I think you can buy actual extra panels at Home Depot for $40-$50, but they’re just plastic. But they look better.
Hope that helps man!
Hey! Where did you by the adapter? Please send the link
The adapter came with it luckily. Did yours not come with one? It was imbedded in styrofoam in the package, could be easy to miss.
I'm getting the 10 thousand btu's in white is it the same goodness?
Great question! Unfortunately I haven't used the white one so I can't say for sure. Does it have an inverter? It might be a completely different unit.
I was just going to comment on the old video about the adapter piece ao you didnt have to crank and twost the dual hose.
Great tip!! That adapter piece is so handy
may I know how long can the window panel be extended? Thanks!
Hey there it goes 9ft! Came with 3, 3ft sections.
Is there any advantage to changing the hose from vertical to horizontal? Why did you do this?
In hindsight not really. The orientation might place slightly less pressure on the plastic clips…mine all broke. They may have either way though.
I think the main advantage would be dependant on if you have a small window or not. But with one the size of mine it matters little.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer all our clips broke as well, frustratingly quickly. and the replacement parts were all backordered for months via encompass
@@oregonjohnson brutal! I didn’t even bother I just used duct tape. It’s not the ‘optimal’ solution to use tape tho, looks horrible and cheap. Seems many have this broken clip issue. Thank you for your report
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer thanks for your reply! It’s validating at least to hear we’re not alone! Duct tape currently in use here too! 🤪
So this is the best portable air con you would recommend?
It’s not perfect but it’s the best one I’ve used so far
What is the outlet temperature of the air conditioner? And what is the temperature in your room now?
I don’t have an accurate way to measure the outlet air temperature but my watch thermometer indicates the room is at the setpoint of the a/c. Not very scientific but
do i need to drain my danby portable air conditioner model DPA120CBIMBDB-6? we live in North Vancouver .
You don’t, it has a sensor in the condensation tank that will shut down the compressor and run an evaporative purge cycle to get rid of the water once the reservoir is full. Since you live near the ocean, I would recommend installing the drain as when the purge cycle is running it shuts down the compressor so you don’t get optimal cooling. Using the hose, your compressor run continuously as the condensate purge cycle will never get activated. Hope that helps!
Do you know what boost mode does?
Good question! Mine doesn’t have it so I looked it up. Apparently it just makes the fan blow on the highest setting and on some models puts the evaporator/condenser into 100% full mode. More from Reddit here: www.reddit.com/r/AirConditioners/comments/o0ukku/what_does_boost_do_on_my_midea_u_ac_unit_1_more/?
Hi, I get too much water from my AC. I mean like 3-4 buckets a day!
That’s crazy! Do you live near the ocean!? You get that much from a Danby??
How to switch from fan to air?
I tried and nothing works
You should just be able to push the snowflake button on the unit and toggle between fan or air.
Mine bips P1 every 20 min approximatly... know what i need to do?

@@PatForest according to a quick Google search, it means the bottom tray is full and needs to be emptied clicking on that link. Should give you some more info.
How much space are you cooling?
12-1300sqft
Great info
Glad it was helpful!
How do we drain it, if we need to?
Great question!
Start by unscrewing the top drain cap and pull out the plug. If anything comes out then do the same with the bottom. It’s advertised as drain free though so nothing should.
Check this out: Best portable air conditioner (least crappy)
ua-cam.com/video/GReems4Kz9o/v-deo.html
In that video I poured 3 litres of water into it. Didn’t need to drain it, it just purges the moisture with a cycle.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Thank You
How you clean it up?
Wasn’t any mess to clean up believe it or not!
Uh... Is it cold? Kind of the point.
And?
16 degrees lol the ac cant coal as much... 20-22 is the best range for cooling
You’re right of course. With these models leave it on lowest setting the sensors then keep the variable drive motor on the compressor at 100% this way you can run the fan on low, best cooling least use of electricity. The fan motors on these chew up power.
Ok
Thanks for your comment drunk gorilla.
My question is why are you being disrespectful by wearing only underwear?
Lady, if you think that’s disrespectful you come from a white family with way too much money. Get real.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer Only white people can have way too much money? Your logic isn’t logicing.
So what happened to your pants, did they get swallowed up by your air conditioner?
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer So did the air conditioner swallow up your pants?
@@smalltv459 really had to think about this why no pants thing. Probably laziness, with a smidge of comfort. I get off of work and the last thing I feel like doing is filming a stupid UA-cam video. But I’m stuck on the treadmill of just getting by in a job I hate so I force myself to film these thinking one day maybe I’ll come up with video ideas and be the next Mr. Beast except I won’t exploit people for my twisted UA-cam game show like he does.
Anyways The minute I get home from work the uncomfortable pants come off. The thought of putting them back on again is agony. So undes it is. Most people find it whimsical and charming. This year in most of my new video I’m wearing sloppy gym shorts. I don’t think I look any better but at least I don’t get so many complaints.
Have a great weekend.
Ah yes, the ol’ discomfort thing. You could try
•shorts
•pajama bottoms
•cargo pants
•chinos
•a kilt
An unexpected googoo on an air conditioning post is undeniably attempting to convey a message.
It is indeed a remarkable invention that men possess, however, its value diminishes as it becomes easily attainable by all.
