Nice project! I might I have to see if you want to give up some parts for my Esprit restoration I am working on as parts cars are very rare to find. Mine was ruined by some past terrible body mods I am changing back to the stock look. I suggest lifting the body off the new donor car and placing the other car on that chassis and call it good. If you need to see how to pull the body off I have chronicled it in my channel. 😉 I am looking forward to seeing how this project progresses. You guys are pretty resourceful obviously, but if there is anything you need to reference feel free to hit me up.
Lmfao Jared "What does air conditioning do?" Freddy "Conditions the air..." I really don't think he got it and Jared's question made him reply with a smart answer missing the total pun 🤣🤣🤣
John Williams is having a Grammaw Seizure in his grave, after that vid intro. {0.o} Edit: Oops my bad, he's still living!! Replace "his grave" with "his Rascal2000" {0.o} 😆😂🤣
Oh come on. At this point, can't we just get beyond thunderdome? Not sorry. An opportunity like that doesn't happen everyday. Been waiting since c. 1997... 🤖🤵🤖
The Force was strong with the questionable Choices in this episode 👍 now, I am only waiting for a parts car for the parts car so we would be sure that this is the ultimate questionable choice 😂🤣😂
Just a heads up, if that serpentine/timing belt has slipped in anyway, the damage is now already done. These engines are “Interference Engines,” so, yes, it does start and run. Unfortunately, if the timings off by even a few degrees, the pistons can literally kiss the valves. So, check your timing, and be very careful, these Lotus engines are very expensive to fix.
I'm super stoked to see this progress. SJ Sports Cars in the UK supply all sorts of parts, including their own versions of things that Lotus either no longer make or charge ridiculous amounts for. If you are struggling to find something you need in the US, check them out.
I feel like this video is a perfect embodiment of your relationship with each other AND your coping with your extraordinary occupation. Best noises a car ever made priming the fuel system lol
as someone who works at the lotus factory in hethel uk, there is a good possibility that the brakes and suspension are not mods but are from the factory. we use generally use Brymbo, ap racing and eibach, bilstein for suspension.
I love that the Lotus Espirit build is back and being actively worked on. I genuinely love that car, and it disappointed me you stopped working on it for a while.
Can't wait to see this Lotus Esprit project progress. I have a project 95 Lotus Esprit project also passenger front fender damage hopefully I hope you will have some parts available. Look forward for future videos.
Point to note about the DeLorean comment: The Esprit was designed and built first, DeLorean only used the Lotus chassis as his original idea didn't come to fruition and he was desperate to get something built.
It's difficult to make time to take care of ourselves but it is noticeable that you've been making an effort Freddy... Bravo sir! I need to follow your lead!
Over here in the UK, back in the late 90s/early 2000s, the "max power" days, we had a lot of those wheels on stuff... Think they were called antera 143 or something along those lines...
I want to address the title of this video, you bought the McLaren wrecked, you bought a Ferrari wrecked, and now when you buy a Lotus wrecked you want to tell us that buying a wrecked supercar is horrible idea? something here is just not adding up. anyway, keep doing it, I'll keep watching and love your work.
Keep the trim bits around the windows! I would be far from certain they are still available otherwise. As to the bodyshell, loads useful there. Ask "Slipping Time" as he needs bits for his Esprit - ua-cam.com/users/SlippingTime
I have so many questions tavarish..........mainly cause i dont have social media! Like, why are the headlights out of the supra? Where did the blue one come from? Answers needed lol
Been catching up on videos on both channels. Love the dynamic you two share. Has been building my confidence working on my own car. Too bad I can't find a lot of performance mods for an 08 Grand Caravan. Looking forward to more content on the Lotus.
Finally, the Lotus continues. Have an 1988 esprit with a Chevy 350. Not my doing . Waiting to see what you guys are going to do so I can get some ideas. Hopefully you will ls3 this , and I can copy the procedure.
Had a bad experience with a JDM boxer engine that the timing cover, and in turn, one of the cam sprockets were damaged in shipping. Ran great, until initial 3k rev, sprocket exploded…bent valves…
Great stuff. I don't know if Freddy remembers, but in one of our very first conversations years ago I was musing on how it would be fun for him to take two destroyed cars and make one good one out of them. I love that that's basically this whole channel now. 😀
well the wood in the car is another Delorean connection, I though it was just those guys in Ireland doing the best they can, but I guess it was accepted lotus practice that they taught them, as the rear parcel shelf in a delorean is plywood, also if this is the V8 model I remember Tiff Needle trying to get one of these to 200 mph and while they were able to boost the engine to do the power the transmission kept going out each time they tried. which could explain its wrecked state if something broke in there, also this lotus is made by general motors, the V8 was their work, but they couldnt find anything that would fit besides that also Renault transmission, so I think its a hold over from the old days, so now its been 15 years since they did that 200 mph thing, but a new transmission, maybe from a porsche might be a good thing to put in the cards. like if ed's still got the clapped out 996 its transmission might be ideal for this.
After owning a Super-7. I always thought 'Wreck and Lotus' was synonymous!!! As carpenter ants vs rust. LoL And I'm not just saying these things about Lotus simply because substituting wood for steel, is the British solution for eliminating rust with dry rot!! hahahahaaaa...... Maybe Jarod's 2 Chargers really was a good idea!! LoL.... Thanks guys. For another great video.
What's even nicer is that they put the spare in SUCH a convenient spot, so that you have to pull it out OVER the windshield when you need to remove it.
Good to see you guys working on a hooptie. Albeit a rare hooptie but a hooptie nonetheless. The punchlines today were hitting. I hope we get to see this one all finish in 2022. We know parts for some british cars are practically nonexistent eventhough they borrowed parts from other cars. It is scary to see how soft that car is . Show us some of the structural on that ESPRIT.
I don't know why I love these mix and match projects, but I do. I assume both were dirt cheap and you can pull together a rare exotic out of the trash. What could be better than that?
I have some lotus elise seats I put in my Miata. I ended up re-upholstering them myself. Before I did that I got a couple of quotes from upholstry shops. One of the owners commented "did someone already try re-doing these themselves?! the stitching and fitting is really inconsistent and the glue has decomposed, and they just glued the leather directly to the GRP seat body" My response "No, that's genuine Lotus OEM shittiness"
Tavarsh I hate to say but I find the wheels on the parts car look must nicer than the factory ones and the parts car looks to be a kit car just seems that way especially in the engine bay you’d almost think you take that fibreglass body off and you’d have a rolling and running chassis and put a different body on it what do you guys think is it possible especially when you have Jared and you tavarsh
That thing looked to be in good shape. You know someone loved and cared for that car, was out enjoying and then this happened. Glad it's at least getting used for something, but bummer to whoever lost it.
Don't you use Star Wars unless you finally got a landspeeder! No, you got a 007 car that is also a submarine...I mean not this one...though technically it sinks just fine, but doesn't come back up. Absolutely love it! Can't wait to see what happens next!

Jared is really getting Freddy frustrated by testing him on common sense stuff, and I enjoy it.
Freddy says "Running".....??!! LOL!! It runs but looks like a homeless-person's "Souper-Car". {0.o} 😆😂🤣

Gonna start calling the shop the thunderdome. Two cars enter, one car leaves.
Oh come on. At this point, can't we just get beyond thunderdome?
Not sorry. An opportunity like that doesn't happen everyday. Been waiting since c. 1997... 🤖🤵🤖
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Two?!? More like 20 its rare that tavarish buys a car and finishes it and it breaks me
Well I guess it's better than 10 cars enter, 0 leave

We have another lotus that was kind enough to show us that trick.
@@TheQuestionableGarage If you still had that mid engined rotary car, could it have been a viable option too put that drivetrain in the Lotus ?
"Having a working transmission is nice."

Lol
Jack: "That'll be 10-15 thousand..."
and that poor fuel pump crying....best parts of the video!

This deserves a like because of the intro 😂
Tl;dr
Looking great Freddy! Whatever diet/exercise regimen you’re doing is working. Love the video and the content as always.
Haven't watched his channel in a while, first thing I noticed too. Looking good!
it was always funny seeing him wearing Spanx in the early days. think he's graduated to just sucking it in. great progress
It's difficult to make time to take care of ourselves but it is noticeable that you've been making an effort Freddy... Bravo sir! I need to follow your lead!
You guys make a great team! But please upload more often. I truly enjoy your videos. God bless

Buying a wrecked supercar *is* a bad idea, but Jared and Freddy are professionals. Or something.
"Twerking pentagram" is one for the ages. As usual, the interactions between you two are hilarious.

@@joealex65 , nooooo. Way too much of that bodyshell is useful. Easy to graft on sections with GRP bodywork.

Bro the AC pun had me dying! Jared is a fool lmfao
Great find! The hair looks like it's come back quite a bit Tavarish. Wear good respirators. Fiberglass dust is no joke.

Your throwing out perfectly good windshield!!!😀 The perfect CarTrek car for Freddie!
Interestingly, I saw what Tavarish was talking about with the wheels. It's like an ink blot test. The fuel pump sound was good for a laugh.
It woke up like an angry child "oh why?"
Ya im here for twerkogram... and yes the fuel pump was like a dying rodent
The drum music for the timelapse footage is great.

I am loving the red paint on that Lotus; possible future color for the white one to be repainted?
tvarish - finally i finished vacuuming all of that class
Jared - are you sure about that. starts cutting windshield.

That Harbor Freight recip saw is such a relatable touch. Not everything is bespoke speciality tools or advertiser swag. . .
Dude!!!! When that engine turned over sounding so nice I too was grinning ear to ear. Hells yea!!!!
I really hope you guys start making more videos and finishing all the cool cars you have started.
Oh god, that opening had me rolling!!!!!
I actually like the old Lotus cars. Can't wait to see this project finish. Matt.
Hi Jared and Tarvarish nice video 📹 and workmanship
"And there's a brown stain."
"I don't blame them."
Had me laughing so hard I choked.
Sweet I been waiting for the lotus too be built wish it had more modern horsepower like todays supercars
Replace all wood with carbon fiber, which makes the Lotus lighter and stronger. If it existed then Colin Chapman would have used it.

Since you're pulling the engine maybe a custom made timing belt cover
Your not dead!!!, IM SO HAPPY
Lots of laughs this episode. When Jack quoted 10-15k out of no where I lost it.
Hell yes. I am a HUGE lotus fan and I’ve been waiting for this. Thank you!
Price, mileage on the salvage auction S4? Keep the spares or sell on eBay? Wheels look period, staggered 17s and 18s?
This looks like it’s gonna be easy money for the wrench every day crew
Great intro, love it. Keep it up Dwayne
Tavarish is lookin’ better, more healthy. Good job!! What joke are these car to be honest. They just shoves some wooden blocks to make them…..
