There is something about the olden times before I was born that seems so...... magical and mysterious. Sure you can read about it in books, archived newspapers, but seeing footage like this still paints a somewhat surreal picture. Japan is a prime example of this. Looking at this footage, it's hard to believe that this is Japan, given how it looks like now. I dunno. it always seems so cool to me.

@Thomas Mace , I like how you put that. To me, although its true and right that they lost WW2, many say that "both sides lost", there's some truth to that, but, I like to that similar idea as, "both sides won", because what was right with Japan survived, while their evil nature was eliminated. Not unlike Germany's similar fascist culture being 99% eliminated.

@@lwouisYT What about ultra HD pocket cameras that will never go away? Knowing whatever dumb, or just "human" thing you do will likely not just stay in the moment but be immortalized and viewed by thousands or millions puts a pressure on you to neuter your behavior. Social media and phones have fundamentally changed society and there's no going back. There's a lot of good that comes with it, of course, but I feel like these "simpler times" are unfortunately never making a return.

Of course the decade that the viewer knows will lead to a very prosperous next decade will look appealing and romantic. But the people in the 70s didn’t yet know that the 80s will be a rich decade just like they didn’t know the economy would crash in the late 80s.
