I was wondering what Jade was thinking about being in the open.
It would be nice, but with the area she moves around in, at that point you would basically be covering half the mill... At least Jade can move around and get out of the sun if she wants while the saw is cutting. Emerald has to sit in one spot all day or else nothing gets done.
That wouldn't be a shelter.....it'd be more like an arena. It would also have to be tall enough to maneuver the equipment in.....and not be in the way of customers getting wood. Likely the only way to do it in a practical sense is to move the mill to one side of the yard and enclose it in a tall structure. No point in having a shack for Em. Maybe one day..... You might need a bigger yard soon. :)

boss". They were great to talk to. We couldn't talk to the girls because they were busy with a special hemlock. order. I think you should call your doll house, the tree-house.

Well done, the window can be easily replaced and adjusted to the view. Emerald looks good in the control center. Making a good shelter for Jade is becoming a must. If the machine were to be covered at the same time, then JD would also be protected.

Your Grandpa is always thinking about you and your sister, he has made sure that y’all have jobs ,and he has taught both of you the business well , bless him for thinking about your future’s long before you ever did even , that’s Love ! But when he passes he’ll go in peace knowing that you and your sister will be financially stable with all that he taught you about running the yard and keeping your good customers coming back, because you gave them a good fair deal and quality lumber for your price ! Grandpa has taught you how to keep making progress even in bad weather there’s still things you can do that. Helps the business move forward. I know he is so proud of the both of you , and knowing that the family business will continue to grow and stay in the family because of what he has done for his family, And especially for his granddaughters !
Some solar Christmas lights, flowers. Paisley paint? and a working coffee pot would greatly accentuate our new She Shed. IMO. 😊

Suggestion: get an drafting stool for your pedestal throne. They're well padded, have a back, and sit higher than a chair, almost standing height.

I have suggestion for plants......
Get one each of a christms cactus and a easter cactus for the 'she shack' (they're easy to sprout from a leaf, a possible ongoing future project needing very litte attention). They bloom at different times and you have other structures on the property the plants could be stored in for their 50-65day's rest period before they bloom (I placed mine in the basement during that time). They're easy to take care of and have beautiful flowers during different seasons.
My daughter nabbed my two plants, taking them to the western slopes of the rockies in Colorado. She says they're doing great.
A solid glass door facing mill would be ideal, you could put a hinged board under the door with come latches on inside so you could drop it down.❤

Skeeters love shaded shacks. Fragrant peppermint oil applied to the wood with a few hanging dispensers will keep them at bay and deter rodents too. 🦟🐀

Grandpa did a great job with Em’s Dollhouse. Hopefully it will have good enough ventilation when it gets really hot in the middle of summer. Some insulation on the tin roof would help keep it cooler and warmer in the winter too.
Last video grandpa said they were going to insulate the roof so it doesn't become an oven in there. One step at a time.
An awning to shade & keep window clean & a remote door open & close.

Hi,Jade should have a top cover with a clear corrugated roof for light that can still have a sunshade put on for the summer,like a greenhouse.That will be nice in inclementweather..

You need a cup holder that is below the controls, in case of spills.
Emerald your so lucky to have a grand-dad who is so handy. My pick for a name for the Plant is Thom Sawyer. After all, he is sawing all day long, and keeping Matilda company.
Names for the grand-dad built structure: Operator's shack, Lumber Yard Shack, Pilots den, Saw Dust Hut, Puppy-Shack, Lumber Yard Coffee Haus, Lumber Deck House, Dead Tree Carcass House, Pineville / Cedar / Hemlock hut, Woofers Retreat, Lite-Haus, or whatever floats your boat.
I think grand-dad may need to insulate the roof, not for heat, but for sound of rain hitting the metal roof, it (the sound) will drive you crazy. The insulation will also prevent moisture buildup during certain times of the year (early spring / mid to late fall) and causing it to rain on you (via moisture-buildup / sweating) from the inside.
Grandpa IS planning to insulate the roof of the Doll House.
Like the Hut. Just a word, please don't place your coffee mug on top of your control station. If you were to spill your mug, you could spill liquid into the control station. I saw it happen when I was in the USAF.
I'm pretty sure the controls are weather tight. Still not a good idea, but probably not devastating.
Control panel is completely waterproof
Shack has just enough room for coner cabinets/shelves to hold mugs, thermal flasks, coffee/tea maker, extra beans, etc.
A wireless Panasonic landline telephone with Bluetooth and intercom capabilities with a handset for every yard worker would turn the mill operator into a central command station.
A great way to keep everyone on site connected.
Or there's that little table to the right over there.
I was going to say I am pretty sure they have had the control panel out in the rain so it must be waterproof. They probably bring it in and out each day for less wear from the elements though
may need curtains on the back window and side door depending on how the sun angles in.

You guys could probably make up a custom post to mount that control center on that bolts to the floor, that way you wouldn't need to worry about the leg sticking out the door.
