Jade does a lot more than she thinks or described to us. She drives, deliveries, bagging, Uses all the heavy duty equipment, tractor etc. And is also great at modeling shorts. Keep up the good work Jade.
Jade and her classic 5 button Levi Shorts. I would have thought the kind of work she does they would have worn out already. Maybe she has 7 pairs for 7 days.
I was a swamper for a third generation logging/mill family in the 1980s, though we called it "being on the green chain." My experience is that it's not about strength but about organization and time management. For me the toughest days were when we were sawing ties. The mill was a 44" or 48" (I don't recall) Foley Belsaw radial saw powered by a Chevy 350 engine. The boss could spit four ties out at a time every few minutes for an hour when he wanted to harass me for fun. I had to sort by dimension and stack the boards in the forklift stacks, stack the ties, feed the chipper and stack for the edger. The edger was powered by the Chevy too with a drive line under the floorboards. As soon as the boss would push out a bunch of ties, he would step over to the edger and start pushing edger boards as fast as he could. He liked to flash me a smile to let me know he was thinking about me. He's in his 80s now and still saws logs, though on a Woodmizer now, as the Foley Belsaw was burned up in a mill fire due to a hot bearing I believe. I too still mill lumber. We have remained close friends for 45 years, and I visit him every summer when I'm down in his neck of the woods.
I'm an old man and am not going to comment on things like beautiful eyes and work ethic....what impresses me most is both your enunciation and articulation of words. Clarity of speech is such a rarity in so many parts of this country anymore.
I've noticed that Jade doesn't stand around doing nothing. If there's something that needs to be done, she just gets to it. I understand why she likes to stay busy because keeping busy makes the day go by faster. Also, she's a pro at working the LT-15, which is a laborious job in itself.
Jade, you said one of the most important things early on. "I guess I just do the BEST I can do". When you do that, don't EVER apologize for it. If your employer doesn't like your best than they have the option of replacing you with someone else. I've said this and have heard others pretty much repeat it. If you are doing your best, you can't do anymore----case closed. Being a lady at times has to be physically demanding when doing hard, physical work like this. You do it and you do it well. Always a pleasure when you are in the video offering your thoughts. Don't work to hard in the summer heat and stay hydrated. It's easy to get overheated in the sun 😊😊
Don't ya just hate it when in our UA-cam feed we see a picture of Jade in the Thumbnail but watch the video and never see her? She does keep busy and looks great doing it.
Jade is the one who organizes, makes the job possible - can also prepare a little for the next project and has an eye on what is in the yard, organizes so that it is easy to deliver, etc. writes reports on deliveries that are complete and what needs to be fixed during the week Very important person, Jade is an admirable personality
I'm sure of that. Someone in the comments wrote that she might be unaware of her beauty. lmao. But the important point is that she has great work ethic and that she is well spoken and intelligent. That makes her and Emerald a very refreshing version of an influencer. I hope that more girls watch this and get inspired.
Nice to finally hear from jade who is clearly intelligent and articulate, but seemingly unaware of her striking beauty. Still curious how she feels about this “shade for jade” movement and all the attention it brings. I’ll say this is a truly unique channel and an inspiration following this family. All the best.
191k subscribers. In from the start and I knew this channel would explode. You deserve everything you get from UA-cam and I hope it brings your whole family a beautiful life. I’m in the U.K. but this channel has brought me a wonderful sense of a peace and love. ❤️
Jade’s upper body strength is definitely making her every bit as capable as a man. Also, she has learned economy of motion. She doesn’t make the work harder than it needs to be. I’m very impressed with how capable both Em and Jade are. Both of them add so much to the family business. Especially considering how their channel has gained traction. Boss man must be very proud!
All I know is that Emerald and Jade are the perfect team. If one of you was missing the content would only be half as good. Love what you guys do and thanks for the content.
I don't know many guys that could hang with her on that job. Thanks for being so honest and humble. I got to say... You both bring so much to the business.
Jade is such a well-spoken, very intelligent person. She appears to be a reader and a thinker. And a beauty queen to boot. She can probably become whatever she sets her mind on. 👍👍👍
Jade, any dad would be so proud of a daughter that works as hard as you do. I watch you and I am amazed you don't get splinters all the time. I guess you have done it enough to be tough. Keep up the great work!
I was a roof truss builder at a lumber yard. Jump jump all day. Also loaded 10 pickup loads at a lumber yard log splitter. She does fine. You are a great team. Better than some boring robot type job in a shop. 😊
Let me say this, Ladies: You rock! Many guys can take you as an example for hard working. Don't make yourself smaller than you are and don't sell yourself short! Both of you are awesome and your Dad can be proud for raising such magnificent daughters! Greets.
This is by far the most informative channel about the running of a Log Yaard and the easiest to watch,a wonderful family business with real American values . Watching you ladies work reminds me of a song from my youth called Poetry in motion.
Swamping is a good way to keep in shape. Stetching, reaching, lifting and carrying is a lot of excerise. Good to keep in physically fit shape and at the right healthy weight.
I worked in an Oregon mill in the 70s. I’ve never heard the word swamper. We wore leather aprons, boots, and gloves pulling on the green chain with a crew of 2. All lumber was 8’ to 24 ft long. The mill was 2/ 48” circle saws with a vertical edger behind, a resaw😊😊 (bandsaw) a trimmer, and a separator. Longer 4x12s were darned heavy. Timbers were stacked with a hoist. The guys smoked or chewed. Not me.
You ladies are awesome and very hard workers, I think this is the way of your family and you were raised the way more people should be raised.Keep up the good work 😊😊😊🎉🎉
Jade - perfect answer. Don’t understand why it would EVER be more complicated or controversial than exactly what you said. Good for you (shouldn’t have to praise basic logic but…ya know…today and all)
Loved this video! The Q&A with Jade was enlightening. That job takes strength, stamina and skill. I’m 6 foot 200 pounds and strong, but I wouldn’t last 2 hours as a swamper until I built up my stamina and learned the tricks of the trade. Jade makes it look easy, but I know it’s not
Jade nice to see you on cam n saying a few words. Jade you're a great worker n you always seem to be doing something. Jade n Emeral have a wonderful week. Drink lots of water on them hot sunny days.
Jade I worked in the industry for years take care of yourself all that hard work will definitely take its toll.Don't be afraid to move on if needed .I personally need both shoulders replaced and have back problems . The money can be a factor and you don't want to let family down .
Down South, she would be called the "Off Barrier", meaning everything that comes off the mill is Her responsibility....on our wood yards, we don't mill lumber...the raw timber in brought in and sorted into post, poles, saw logs and chipping material...then each one of these sub-sets are sent to a different part of the mill complex to be further refined in to usable products, like treated post, treated poles, lumber and chips. At each an off barrier handles these to make the transition run smoothly!!! So, yes the "swapper" is one of the most inportant parts of southern pine production
Having been shown by your parents since you could walk Jade is a sure fire way of gaining knowledge of experience from the best educators, mom and dad though I would include Gramps certainly gives y'all unrestricted access to three well versed in the lumber industry. Having that kind of valued info similarly with the added wealth of experience they have gained is priceless based on all the challenges over time gives you, and your siblings three very interesting perspectives from there own personal point of view. You can't teach what you have acquired but none of what they have shared with you as time goes by, there will be a moment of reflection as you grow the normal routines one tends to question is where I am where I want to be, have to be and/or it is what it is because one has probably not thought about a future yet as life right now suits you for however it takes to revisit that some time sooner or later. I knew I wanted to travel from a very early 10-12 yr old boy. Taking over the grandparents dairy farm just was'nt exciting as just back packing to a different culture, languages, food, lifestyle and all those other experiences I found irresistable. I may gone alittle off track and I sincerely do apologise but I have experienced more than I could ever imagined but for you taking on the family business with your siblings as equal partners is a great honour and I respect that as a business self educated but made some very unavoidable stuff ups but I've learnt from them. So anyway good to see y'all loving life and look forward to catching the next lumber journey.
Your insightful interview with Jade highlights the unique experiences and challenges of being a female in the lumber industry, showcasing your dedication to amplifying diverse voices and fostering understanding. And I am Floating Village Life
❤❤jade is so smart and beautiful glad to see her in the spotlight, love emerald but jade is usually in the background more than in front of the camera and it’s good to see her , she’s a very hard worker ❤❤❤
So refreshing to see an interview with Jade who until recently was the unknown camera operator. Needless to say she is becoming more comfortable in front of the camera as well. Perhaps it's also time for her to turn the tables and do an Emerald interview ;) These interviews with the family make the whole LCLY following more personal and no doubt will attract more followers 👏👏
Best video yet!!! As a Jade fan she deserves more attention and praise. She works for a living. Physical labor not just pushing and pulling levers. Just saying! Coodles to Jade she is pretty and awsome. You go girl!!!
i was a swamper yrs ago and let me tell you it is a physical job. pretty much works every muscle in the body and i think you girls are awesome at what you do even the little brother who doesn't get much attention
I watch both of you use the counter weight of some of those boards and slabs as leverage to keep the handling much lighter , that comes from experience , I think that is what makes a Sawyer and a Swamper truly great at their job. Both of your expert experience shows .Thank you both for sharing.
Both you young ladies are amazing . I give you both lots of credit, cutting lumber and whatever else you do has to be hard but like jade said it's something to keep the hands busy . Both of you are rockstars and prove it's not mans work. Keep it up , be safe and take care.
I googled "swamper",this is what I got; swamper noun 1.A person or animal that lives in or close to a swamp. (does NOT apply here) 2.An assistant who performs tasks requiring little training, in support of a skilled worker. 3.One who clears brush for loggers Not to diminish the great job you both do.
Two peas in a pod. You work great together, a common interest and involvement. Caring and compassion towards each other. Hard to pin you down to any other team in your field. God Bless
I have watched you two for a while. It looks like the ergonomics of the Sawyer position have improved significantly. With the little shack windows etc. I would still put some insulation in that place, especially the roof. Also get some power so you can have a space heater in the winter. The Swamper looks problematic. You two are young but the Swamper job looks like it will have repetitive stress injuries that will wear you out. Also you are both light skinned blue eyed persons. The prolonged UV exposure could also lead to skin issues later in life. I would recommend looking at two changes for the Swamper. 1. build some hydraulic fork rack system so the lumber can be rolled at level onto stacks for transport when you are stacking it for sale or other piles for further processing. 2. Put up a tarp or other roof system so that the swamper is not in direct mid day sunlight. This will also be helpful in rain and other weather events. While there is some cost to this, it will contribute to the long term health safety and sustainability of you two. Don't take your youthful physical condition for granted. It is gift that should be cherished and maintained. Best wishes, I enjoy your content.
Jade you are amazing I think you are so talented. You do the swamping and film these videos you are the best and good looking. God bless you and your family. Keep up the great work. Love you all
I was the foreman for a prison sawmill in the early 80s. We called them off bearers and stackers. The foreman Stacked the logs for the mill and moved the banded full stacks. What I'm saying is that her job is all in one, and she does it with pro abilities. I'm impressed. Get it young lady!!
You all benefit each other directly from your own effort, with each contributor adding to the bond of the family unit. A wonderful thing in itself. The ability to focus mentally on process work, to perform efficiently and safely, is an attribute that many people do not possess, or do not care to apply themselves to. Said people are often the first to disrespect the value of such ability as well. (My experience of half a century, admittedly not in timber work, but industry never the less.)
There is a certain satisfaction from doing some amount of physical labor for sure in your job. Though I would personally miss having nothing else. I have a physical job during the day and then work evenings at a more social function, with more varied and challenging responsibilities. I really hope Emerald isn't going to get Jade fired by talking all about those fast 'physical' guys that can work faster. To be entirely fair, from doing all this relatively demanding work for so long, you sisters are certainly way stronger than you look and probably way more healthy and fit than the average person would be without that job. Don't worry too much about working too fast or too hard, as long as the job gets done and you do it precise and safely (with all the machinery involved) you are perfectly capable and worth a lot to your family business. Not to mention with the youtube thing as a big side hustle, you are also a rolemodel and commercial for how your business is run, which is a major bonus.
Love me some Jade Humor! Totally agree about knowing your job without having to focus on it being a thing. Good exercise is just that. No advantage or disadvantage just you being you! Cheers!
I understand life time grew up farming here in NC . Was on a tractor by 6 years old by 8 could run about any thing dad had . That was back in the70s and still going strong . Not farming now . But tree service and grading now . Hard work and long day . Learn one thing as you get older . Cheap help is Expensive. Always remember that one !
From what I have observed, you two ladies are probably the most toned females on UA-cam. I am talking naturally because you are using muscles that even athletes do not use or develop. Very impressive........
Nice to hear from Jade. Even though Emerald obviously tried to trap her by not telling her about the topics of the interview, she does a refreshingly good job of not sounding like a dumb blonde. And your camera work, starring your sister Emerald, is really great. In Germany, we have a saying for that: “Mehr sein, als scheinen” which clumsily translates to “Be more than you appear to be”. Not sure why the both of you don't swap sawyer and swamper positions daily, but of course, that's up to you.
@@scottsoper And in your considered opinion she's too blond to do that? The girls are certainly free to organise themselves like they want to, but speculating about skill levels is way off limits.
@@UlrichWulf I am telling you that Jade does not want to run the mill. NOT that she could not run the mill. and that running the mill takes practice. Jade runs a lot of machines.....
Emerald, inside the new operators cabin gives good indirect light and makes for brilliant photography. Soft even light that some photographers would give up anything for. Such light is needed for many people, but not you. Jade, you have made good use of that light in this video.
Hi Emerald, having watched Jade haul and stack the lumber off the mill for the past two years I think I have a good idea of which of you is stronger 😁Seriously though you both make a great team. And I hope the summer isn't too arduous with plenty of crick time for cooling off. 🙂🌻🌻🧡
"Suns Out, Guns Out!" Thank you for explaining what "swamping" is! I get swamped by how much I love this channel! I'll just have to keep on "working" it! Lol! Great music!
Hey girls, I just want to say I love your show and I can’t believe how strong your girls are for cutting all that green lumber and teaching people the boat what it takes to mill logs that’s really kick ass! My name is Chuck Richards and I’m from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania but I am a millwright in Oregon and have been for 40 years. I love your show keep doing what you’re doing. I really appreciate you girls. 0:530:54 😊
since watching these young ladies i see that they dont act like some women intitled and act spoiled jade has good work ethic and is not afraid to get her hands dirty💪😉
As a family business, both Emerald and Jade are the core workers. They are the two who actually produce the end products. Without them, tgere is no lumber business. And they do it professionally, safely and still manage to be beautiful young women at the same time.
Jade is a world class beauty. The “swamper” goddess.
They are both beautiful. And smart!
Indeed they are beautiful and smart.
Jade does a lot more than she thinks or described to us. She drives, deliveries, bagging, Uses all the heavy duty equipment, tractor etc. And is also great at modeling shorts. Keep up the good work Jade.
The most important Jade does is run the camera. Emerald is kind of a slacker. I mean swamper.
Thx Jade , and Em ❤
Jade and her classic 5 button Levi Shorts. I would have thought the kind of work she does they would have worn out already. Maybe she has 7 pairs for 7 days.
It's a treat to hear from Jade. She definitely has a physical job and does well at it.
Jade works at a pace that is sensible and can be sustained for a long time.
No rush, no haste, means less errors. Errors cause time lost.
Jade so handles most of the camera work.
Good to hear from Jade too.
I'm an old man and am not going to comment on things like beautiful eyes and work ethic....what impresses me most is both your enunciation and articulation of words. Clarity of speech is such a rarity in so many parts of this country anymore.
You complimented without complimenting. Their eyes are amazing and I’m 70
I've noticed that Jade doesn't stand around doing nothing. If there's something that needs to be done, she just gets to it. I understand why she likes to stay busy because keeping busy makes the day go by faster. Also, she's a pro at working the LT-15, which is a laborious job in itself.
More than that: everyone in the family understands they have to produce....
Jade, you said one of the most important things early on. "I guess I just do the BEST I can do".

Both you young ladies are amazing . I give you both lots of credit, cutting lumber and whatever else you do has to be hard but like jade said it's something to keep the hands busy . Both of you are rockstars and prove it's not mans work. Keep it up , be safe and take care.
I googled "swamper",this is what I got;
swamper
noun
1.A person or animal that lives in or close to a swamp. (does NOT apply here)
2.An assistant who performs tasks requiring little training, in support of a skilled worker.
3.One who clears brush for loggers
Not to diminish the great job you both do.
And Jade, you do everything so well...without wearing gloves! Amazing!
Jade's one of my top two swampers on UA-cam.
These vids are a nice mental break from whatever todays stress is (Tax time here in NZ) , cheers
Every thing these beauties do reflects on the parenting and watching them work is a visual feast not to mention that excellent parenting!
I don't see any disadvantage's , I see two independent professional ladies doing a fantastic job , bet your folk's are super proud of their girls .
Thanks jade for all the hard work you do
There is a certain satisfaction from doing some amount of physical labor for sure in your job.
Both ladies do a lot of work and do great at all the various tasks set before them!!
I agree, everyone in the family works very hard!!!
They're exemplary young women. Smart, strong and beautiful. Not many young women, or young men, would or could do what they do.
You did great Jade . I’m glad you like what you’re doing . Love those cat eyes girl.
Love me some Jade Humor! Totally agree about knowing your job without having to focus on it being a thing. Good exercise is just that. No advantage or disadvantage just you being you! Cheers!
Jade is a such a hard working, gorgeous, feel good character.
You two sisters are amazing,,,,,,,,,love the chemistry you two share
I understand life time grew up farming here in NC . Was on a tractor by 6 years old by 8 could run about any thing dad had . That was back in the70s and still going strong . Not farming now . But tree service and grading now . Hard work and long day . Learn one thing as you get older . Cheap help is Expensive. Always remember that one !
From what I have observed, you two ladies are probably the most toned females on UA-cam. I am talking naturally because you are using muscles that even athletes do not use or develop. Very impressive........
The life without Jade is not a life
👸😍👌❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice to hear from Jade.
Even though Emerald obviously tried to trap her by not telling her about the topics of the interview, she does a refreshingly good job of not sounding like a dumb blonde.
And your camera work, starring your sister Emerald, is really great.
In Germany, we have a saying for that: “Mehr sein, als scheinen” which clumsily translates to “Be more than you appear to be”.
Not sure why the both of you don't swap sawyer and swamper positions daily, but of course, that's up to you.
Jade would rather swamp and it does take lots of skill and practice to run the mill.
Coolest milling crew i've ever seen :- ) Hard working, pretty, and experienced in their jobs. Glad you have the new shelter working well for you.
I live in Oregon and I remember what Jade does being described as pulling Green Chain. Also the understanding was it was the hardest job in the mill.
Jade sounds and talks just like you. Oh, sisters are similar in so many ways. ❤😊
Great hearing Jade chat 🎉
since watching these young ladies i see that they dont act like some women intitled and act spoiled jade has good work ethic and is not afraid to get her hands dirty💪😉
As a family business, both Emerald and Jade are the core workers. They are the two who actually produce the end products. Without them, tgere is no lumber business. And they do it professionally, safely and still manage to be beautiful young women at the same time.
