Back in 1977 I was 8 years old and going to the movies with my best friend once a week, every week from the 1970s-1980s. We were a couple of fanatics about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. He lived in a distant neighborhood and I had to take a public city bus to get to and from his place. Normally, most times we went to one of the movie theaters in or near his neighborhood. After seeing our movie in the theater, we'd retreat back to his apartment to watch even more movies on his living room tv that happened to be airing that afternoon and evening. The Car was one of the few movies we didn't get to see in the theaters. We didn't see it until a couple years later in his living room when it debuted on tv. I think the year was either 1979 or 1980 when we were 10-11 years old. After seeing the movie on his tv, I took my bus home. The bus let me off a block or so away from my place. As I walked up my street to get home, it was after dark and I was scared of all the cars parked alongside the sidewalk, especially the ones with their front tires turned towards me on the sidewalk. I warily eyed them, worried that one of them would jump up onto the sidewalk and give chase to me! I finally reached my home and breathed a sigh of relief. Because as one will recall in the movie, there's a scene in which the car kills one of its victims by smashing through her single level house. I actually loved this film when I was a kid, watched it on some late night showing on TV, and yes, I saw all the silliness of it years later rewatching it, and you nailed it again, your commentary was hilarious on this one. There were some pretty well filmed scenes in the car, everyone seems to love the one where it comes crashing through the house killing his girlfriend, personally my favorite is where it makes itself almost crash, tumbling sideways over the cop cars, I mean it looks awesome, just absolutely brutal, not too mention the way they edited it was fantastic, that entire scene just happens sooo fast it kind of just blows you away the first time you see it. Ok, enough of my love fest with the car lol, great review , maybe you could do The Wraith next time😋
Now I understand that Futurama joke where Bender turns into a killer "werecar". It was a reference to this movie... Only took nearly 20 years to find out...

This movie was on tv all the time when I was a little boy. It scared me. I remember the car was displayed at Universal Studios Hollywood behind velvet rope late 70's to early 80's.
On the commentary of Futurama the producers say they were inspired by this film for their design of the werecar that tries to kill Bender. And the two little blonde girls here are played by Kyle and Kim Richards.
I remember a kid in school telling me about this movie shortly after it came out, he made it sound as if it was the most terrifying horror movie yet. Yeah, turns out to be more campy then creepy by a mile! Great review! 👍

I remember seeing this broadcast on TV back in the 1980s - of course, it'd had been edited for television, but it still stuck with me through the years. I loved the design of The Car, some fantastic work by George Barris. I'll have to find this on Blu-Ray and watch it again. It's a B-movie, to be sure, but a pretty well-made B-movie.
James Brolin had bad luck with domestic items in the 1970's ... first in The Car (1977), then of course The Amityville Horror (1979). I must admit The Car is a good movie, just underrated.
I was all giddy about this movie when Siskel&Ebert reviewed it[I'm Jesus old]cause of the scene where the car starts flipping towards the cops. Say what you will but this movie had great stunt tricks and this was 4 decades ago now it's shitty CGI

I love this movie and watch once or twice a year. It has some beautiful scenery, as in Zion National Park and James Brolin. Nice. And the scene in which it goes through the girlfriend's house to get her - awesome!

This movie holds a special place in my heart. It was always playing on Saturdays on TBS or channel 11 in the 80s. I've seen it so many times and can still hear that horn. I smiled when I saw this video pop up in my suggestions. Thank you!!
That car driving through the house scared me to death as an 11 year old at the drive in theater with my parents and it stills scares me 40 years later
that scene made me have nightmares
I've actually watched this movie, more than once? HTF did that happen?
@@Artofficial1986 No I just have one channel on my Television that I watch, "Comet" and we'll the movies there are kinda... Limited. No Cable, no Netflix, none of that nonsense... mostly I just have the television on for background noise.
That's how I typically am with these videos, since I've usually seen the movies multiple times before Mark reviews them. But this is one of the few I actually have never seen before.
I remember this being a Saturday afternoon staple back in the 80's on local movie stations. I have seen this 3 or 4 times myself back in the day!

Airbags. Lots and lots of airbags.
I absolutely love "The Car", brilliant episode.
Ok, enough of my love fest with the car lol, great review , maybe you could do The Wraith next time😋
That bridge fall stunt is actually damn impressive
This movie is worth watching if just for the scene where the car flies through the house.

Wow, it’s been a while since Mark has watched a movie that hasn’t filled him with rage, LOL!
I remember watching this when I was young. That scene where the car is coming at her window was scary! I was like"Oh no. NO! Crunch!
If I ever win the lottery I will have a faithful replica of The Car
'Clutching' at straws here, this is actually a good movie, your Rep continues to nosedive hehe
Now I understand that Futurama joke where Bender turns into a killer "werecar". It was a reference to this movie... Only took nearly 20 years to find out...
Better late than never. Good movie.
I'm glad you're able to upload consistantly like you wanted.
Do you people haunt his response section, always acting like you know him personally and always commenting about the frequency of his video uploads? You people are in every one of his comment sections. No one cares to keep seeing this $hit every time they look at the comments.
This movie was on tv all the time when I was a little boy. It scared me. I remember the car was displayed at Universal Studios Hollywood behind velvet rope late 70's to early 80's.
No one’s doing it? Fine I will jeez.
Oh hi mark!
You're tearing me apart Nicolas!

You know this quarantine has it's good parts
One of them is that you upload more frequently
i haven't been so terrified by a movie since 'the canoe.'
On the commentary of Futurama the producers say they were inspired by this film for their design of the werecar that tries to kill Bender. And the two little blonde girls here are played by Kyle and Kim Richards.
I remember this movie being really scary when it came on TV. Being too young to see actual horror helped.
Dude your dry humor is amazing, you rock, VERY good job
I'm getting more and more convinced that the old lady screamed "Cat Poo!"
Clubbed Sandwich That’s what I always thought
Exactly !
Pause at 6:33...UFO?
that's because she does shout CAT-POO 💯
I remember a kid in school telling me about this movie shortly after it came out, he made it sound as if it was the most terrifying horror movie yet. Yeah, turns out to be more campy then creepy by a mile! Great review! 👍
TBF that guy falling from the bridge was a pretty cool shot.
This is like a cross between Science Fiction Theater 3000 and Svengoolie!
Keep up the great work Mark!
Josh Brolin now looks a lot like his dad. Such a change from how he looked in Goonies.
It is great that you added "weird" and not only "bad movies" this is a magnificent movie and really strange but it is not bad, and I have to confess that for a long time it was one of my favorites, it is too entertaining
They should have called this "Minimum Underdrive."
I was just watching through other videos on this channel - and then this popped up! Awesome
Still better than "The Swarm".
"The suspense in this film is fantastic and just builds and builds as the film moves on. One thing that this film did take from Jaws is how the music changes when the car appears in the scene. It truly hightens the suspense of the scene and really pulls you in and brings you to the edge of your seat."
"Tadpole!"
Me: Dang it. I was really hoping she said Deadpool..😒 I can't be the only one who heard it! 🤔
Makes about as much sense as tadpole.
I just want to thank you for cheering me up. Locked indoors, at first because of coronavirus, and now because of the violent protests here in NYC, it has become all too much. Today, I stumbled upon your channel, and have now watched a bunch of episodes; this particular one probably elicited the most amount of laughter. Keep up the good work. The world needs more people like you.
My pappy said, "Son, you're gonna' drive me to drinkin'
If you don't stop drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln"
The man whom customized the car is also the same guy that made the shuttle craft for ST the original series. So, that guy has gotten around. That is actually a good movie. Has a Saturday night feel to it.
Ok but is no one talking about how her student drew her naked and she was worried about looking like a 36D........
Ok but no
Cause Hollyweird thinks stuff like that is "normal" yeah having a crush is one thing but shouldn't making that get him in some kind of trouble
@@homelesshannah50 Wow you sound just like that old bitty teacher in the movie lol. The kid was 13 not 5. Pretty normal to have his hormones raging at that age. The art was actually classy. A 13 yr old today would have drawn a bukkaki anime of his teacher and put it on the internet.
@@juststained I get hormones raging but he took it to another level that frankly came off as creepy regardless of his age. Even at 13 you should know "when to say when"
@@homelesshannah50 Bollocks, its healthy stuff and pretty cute and innocent from the woman's pov.
I'm just happy that Mark is uploading more these days❤
So a movie about K.I.T.T from Knightrider's evil twin?
Yes. K.A.R.R. will kill us all.
@strontiumXnitrate
I'm guessing you are referring to my Squirrel Girl cosplay. I made the ears according to the comic's specs.
@strontiumXnitrate
The version of Squirrel Girl I cosplayed uses that belt design too. Four pockets full of different kinds of nuts. :)
This movie scared the heck out of me as a kid. Great watching it again today.
I was really hoping that scene of the car going off the cliff would reveal Toonces as the driver

7:27 Clearly, you've never been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. We dance to everything here.
This was my favorite one of your videos I've seen so far. Also, as a little kid in the early 80's, my friends and I were legit scared of killer cars like this.
Interesting that this came out in 1977 and Stephen King's Christine was published in 1983.
The FILM was made then doofus the book was published long before
you been making quarantine bearable, the uploads are much appreciated.
OMG THANK YOU, I LOVE THIS MOVIE 😂
One of the things I remember most about this movie is music whenever the car shows up.
The other thing about this movie is that much of the horror takes place in daylight.
I can't believe you didn't pause at 13:40 and hold on that wonderful reaction shot.
Happy to see the frequent posting keep it up hands down one of my favorite youtubers
Hard to feel bad for the bicyclists. They were riding in the middle of the road .Two thumbs up for the car on those killings 👍👍
😂😂😂😂😂
actually I live in the U.S.
Thanks for saying the make and model of THE CAR!
This movie *drives* me crazy
BUH DUM TING!
I saw this movie when it first came out but on some early version of HBO we had when I was a wee lad. I love this movie! I liked The Car, Laser Blast & Roller-Coaster. My Dad gave me an appreciation for bad movies. He also got me into 1970s Blaxploitation movies too. Thanks for this!
So they had scps in the 70s too huh
Since discovering this channel, I've started looking at movies in a whole different way, trying to find mistakes in them and thinking if I could point them out in a comedic way.
The car looks like when bender becomes a werecar in Futurama lmao
Kurt Cobain lml yea they had to get the idea for that episode from this movie
I just remembered that after this review, Futurama spoofed this movie!!
It's no coincidence.
He had bad luck with trousers too.
I saw this at drive in with my cousins. What a hilarious fun time. I love this movie.
I need to watch this movie! When I was a kid, this would've scared the crap out me! Liked the review on this one too. Cheers and hope you and your family are safe and staying cautious!
I love this movie and watch once or twice a year. It has some beautiful scenery, as in Zion National Park and James Brolin. Nice. And the scene in which it goes through the girlfriend's house to get her - awesome!
