My feet seem to also have grown a size in Portugal... Shoes I brought from Belgium are 41, the ones I bought here are 42. Unfortunately my height didn't but I'll just walk along the higher side of the streets.
Hey. Im a big time walker and you need that toebox wider because your feet swell. I use Altra shoes, zero drop wide toe box. I get well over 1000kn out of them. Forget about the waterproof, doesn't work. If its wet out your feet will get wet nomatter what.
I dont do walks or jogging, but my favorite shoes are old-fashioned leather ones with the sole stitched to the upper part. They last for almost a lifetime. Even got a pair of handmade ones that are even more robust. In the end, they are cheaper then the plastic and glue ones (wich almost all the sport shoes are.
Trail running on a pair of leather shoes would be a challenge i think. One can always try that of course. I know in the past the army boots were made of leather, with soft leather on the inside. But with a thick rubber sole. You could easily walk 30-40 km daily with those without a problem. And they would survive for years. But also not very suitable for running, too heavy for that. (i have a pair of all leather sneakers, handmade in Portugal by the way, leather inside and outside, but also a rubber sole of course).
I only walk and I have 2 pairs that I rotate according to if it is wet or not. On dry days, I use my underarmour trainers and on wet days I have some Ecco branded waterproof affair from China. Both have lasted well ( a year approx) and the wear I get is mainly on the inside of the shoe. That is weird I know, but the internal structure sometimes breaks down / the insole wears out. I also had a few sock casualties. No idea why. The soles last fine for me.
I think I'm wearing out my soles on the road... I've done more trail this month and the soles on these are like new... also, I imagine less weight must take less of a toll on shoes.

Agree with wider toe box! I have primal2 by Lems. They are very thin, zero drop. But Altra are really 👍
Stuff the shoes with wet newspaper...it's an old fashioned method to soften and stretch footwear and it works... Also works in larger shoes! 😆
How can you slip them off and on just like that ? Or was it just for the review.
I wonder if they aren't fitting right.

Also get one size bigger.
