Great concert yesterday in Hamburg. Labrie said that he was ill at that time an he would give 100% that evening! And he actually did! And: Mangini rocks! Much more powerful drumming than in 2012.
im not against a little digital help for james. if he is going to stay with dt, then I think they should think about it when performing live. I would not hold it against him. I hate to admit the fact that he is holding the band back. these songs are difficult to sing, especially the older material. he was one of the best singers with a phenomenal voice at one time so he has earned the right to have a little work done on his voice for the shows. it wouldn't be theater without him.......
Anthony S. I really can't see how he's a great singer now. Maybe I'm missing something. He was amazing, now, I haven't seen a single show post 2012 or so where he hasn't sounded like a dying crow. If those performances do exist, that's great, but there clearly aren't enough of them. He needs to step down.
seems like hes recovering to get those high notes again, not getting worse than the start of the tour, too much touring the astonishing, the man is over worked :(
Dunford00 I find the way his voice reacts to touring really weird, it seems like when he's on tour his voice improves but then as soon as his voice is given time to recover it goes dodgy because even though illness is fucking up his tone and pronunciation here his pitch is more accurate than it was at the start of the tour.
I´m sorry but I can't buy this. I never thought that the day I would hear LaBrie singing with lower tones could come so quickly. Said that, I think that in the end Portnoy was right: they need to have a break for energy recovery, specially LaBrie. If they continue on this routine of touring / recording / touring time after time his voice won't stand too long.
No man, there's so many tours at the time this vid recorded, he just tired and need a time to recover. You can listen at Distance Over Time album, his high pitch notes recovered and came back.
I was there.. there was a problem with the right hi-hat at the End of Sourrounded. The hydraulic mount had to changed. Mangini and his technician were working pretty fast to change it. Then in Metropolis -I think- there was a Pedal in the wrong position, therefore mangini was distracted /missed the snare hit... whatever it was, it was surly caused by the Hit-hat incident.

I love Dream Theater and everybody who's in it, but to say the James was flat would be a complete understatement...
