- Awesome track. The year was 1994, the band "Orbital", the album "Snivilisation" the track # 9 - "Are We Here" Ft. Alison Goldfrapp. If you are a fan of old school electronica or "techno" - as it was once called- and you don't own this album then you need to get it - seriously!
If there is one song to be sent into outer space in a time capsule, this is it.
Can't agree more !!
That is a beautiful thought. I would want our world and our species to be represented by something so beautiful. I make music and I think how much effort went into just this one song from the album, that’s just superb. Its the crown jewel of the record for sure. Sending mad love from beautiful Colorado! ❤️🏔🐟
Dead Cities by FSOL?
What does god say?
11 years later from outer space and I have to ask. What does God say?
i had some amazing experiences while listening to orbital... it's so cool how all these years later my body still gets that feeling in the pit of my stomach and my skin gets the chills when i hear this track. and they were INCREDIBLE live. almost nothing musically has compared to them performing Belfast, live, as the sun came up over the mountains...circa summer, '95
9:00 mark.. I melt.. the song transcends .. the memories come rushing back.. it's '94 all over again.. life is good
ha ha you got it 9mins the tune lifts off nice 😎
Jason Boring get a grip
Marc Davies I wanna grip you!! #youmustbeRogosFriend
Jason Boring Marc Davies needs to learn a hard lesson 😡
Lana Williams u going 2 teach me?
Been listening to these guys since the very beginning but only found out today that Alison Goldfrapp is behind that beautiful, timeless vocal sample.
there is NO GREATER SONG THAN THIS ONE my friends. there is none. this is a masterpiece for the ages.
classic. Love how it goes from jungle techno to industrial rock to transcendent dream pop type vibes all in the matter of 15 minutes. Probably their best song.
90s is undoubtedly the best decade for the electronic music with the Orbital heading that era! This is just another one of their absolute masterpieces! They have many! They’re the best electronic music act!
Def Agree!🎶🔥🎶
Their greatest song from their greatest album. Let it wash over you and send you into a trance. 15 minutes is too short, find I need to play it twice.
Yes, Snivilisation for me is their greatest album. A pure Masterpiece.
Bardzo świeża, bogata aranżacyjnie, dynamiczna, świetna brzmieniowo i dźwiękowo muza! W jednym utworze znajdują się pomysły na kilka utworów - to znak rozpoznawczy prawdziwie twórczych muzyków.
Still sounds fresh, complex and heavenly-New from a completely different world. I can’t believe that this was produced in the 90’s. These guys are way ahead of their time. This song is still my favorite, but IWIHDF still has the best beginning…
I'd try to put timestamps at all the good bits but it's just good bits all the way through it.
Pioneers of the scene. Still sounds fresh today. My favourite orbital album for sure and what a track this is 🙌🙌
Fantastic tune. Mystical...I found this album when I was stoned, in an old crusty hippy bus around 15 yrs ago in a small town in Cork and loved it. Hadnt listened to these tracks for a long long time and had forgotten how amaaaazing this album and In Sides is. Listening to it now with friends and the mother of my two kids, it feels like im on a journey back in time to when life was such a different place.Orbital are my time machine...Beautfiul
Definitely one of the best tracks of the 90's.
This is so iconic to me even if it's not recognized that way as a musical piece by most people. Most people have never even heard it, let alone appreciate it. 8:05 ....... that synth, that singing, that sax...
Making a 15 minute song just doesn't happen anymore. A song of three parts that seem to fit together so well. Keeps you hooked from beginning to end.
Have not heard this since last century, like running into an old friend.
20years already! And this album is still fresh sourding , ah that time drum&bass was becoming mainstream but not that ! I remember i bought it in cassette format and the sound was incredible as i never looked my walkman in the same manner

This song is pure magic.
are we uniquie ? ... no we are hybrids and have been here for quite some time !......orbital are like a good wine , they age very well .
These guys have made some seriously amazing music, but this.... if I had to choose one to fit the label of 'masterpiece' then this would probably be the one. From start to finish, it's a journey like no other. And since '94 - even though some seriously good music has been released, this is the one that transcends everything.
So old. So good. Still unmatched.
Very, very difficult to take this off my all time top 3 list. When THAT melody finally kicks in and the polyrhythms continue to evolve.
what else you would put in ur top 3 ?
Not just the music but the MTV video with the plane wheels touching down, the girl in the launderette... everything about it.
Best electronic track ever made
I would like to thank college radio in the US, because if it wasn't for WFDU in New Jersey, I'd have never heard of this amazing music.
FINETUNED GAMING Same here. KFJC, Foothill College in California back in maybe 1999
Same here! Only it was CHUO FM, University of Ottawa in Canada. 1993. Raves just aren't the same any more. 🤘🤯
Pure genius.
As much as I
love all things by the brothers Hartnolll....this album is special to this day....
Same here. I saw them play a few times at Glastonbury some years ago and they rocked the place. I also saw them in the Warehouse Project last year and they were amazing. All the people going for it at the front were mid 30s - 40s+ and the younger folk were behind us loving it! When Belfast came on it was incredible. You could tell that all the people there were totally in the moment.
Classic, stunning . Hits the f'in spot each and every time..

Thanks for uploading the full version. Had this on CD when it 1st came out and after years of enjoying it dropped it only to scratch in the middle of this song. The shortened versions of this song hurt my very soul...
Great song!
I can listen to this track many times over and find something new every time. The second section messes with me in the best way imaginable, especially with a serious subwoofer covering the lowest of the low end frequencies, If you would ever listen to this in a car with serious subwoofers,(at 3:10) you would likely crap your pants, unintentionally, of course.
Whenever I'm constipated I just listen to this song.
I thank Orbital for making me love all forms of electronica. They are just so good at making music with such incredible depth. And, I can only seem to appreciate them more as I get older.
Doesn't really get much better than this.
Great song
Appropriate page title. "Music that changed your life"....this fits the bill. Haven't heard this in years.......Thank you.
Was there at Glastonbury 94 when they finished with this and 'Attached'; genuinely one of those rare moments that alters how you think about music. Helped a bit I suppose coming out/up of the comedy tent prior to this on some dodgy acid after watching Charlie Chuck, but my point remains the same. Some of the most profoundly beautiful music ever made.
Absolute brilliant song
Been a fan of GF for years and never knew Alison sang on this track! What a find!!!
Short version captured me and had a great video. This is what I smoke a joint to in the morning, however.
2:55 things get dicey
8:05 light at the end of the tunnel
9:39 freedom
This has to be my favourite Orbital track - and there's sooooo many that are awesome.
Listened to this religiously when it fist came out, every weekend...till the break of dawn!
beyond words there music is.
Yoda?!
Yoda doesn't mix there and their.
Maybe Yoda is pointing to where the music is?
True. Beyond Words sounds like a mindfulness/meditation place.
yeah, I agree! This and Underworld's 11 minute epic "Cups" are two of my all time favorites.
Right with you chief, cups by underworld is a beast :) - x
I dove into this track once in life. forgot it existed. then dove into it a second time in my 40s.
Awesome.
Best Orbital Album without doubt and without getting into concept bollocks has to be listened to as an Album.
how much can I love it?.....I never know, it's always more.
Sublime.
Bad man riddim’s 🎧🎧🥁🔊🥁👌✌️➕❤️⭐️✨⭐️
legends
yeah :-) this was first cassette I ever bought .. and probably the best one
Wa doomed for sure Love for ye all been here 56 and these lads have been most of them . Shoulda bee peace out 🎶🎼🖤🤍☠️
I jammed this song. 15 minutes are just very pleasing for an Orbital Snivillazation song.
One of the best songs i've ever heard.
Still is like a sudden clearing in a hundred murky cloudscapes every time i hear it.
top shelf
The ending is always my favorite.
"The prodigal son is alive and well, and living in the front bedroom, we never see him, he treats this place like a hotel. You can't speak to him...
Yes it seems to mean something different to people at all different ages. I heard this as a teenager in the mid 1990's when it came out and it struck a chord back then "He treats this place like a hotel".
"He's a promiscuous long-haired work-shy drug-taking layabout who ought to be in the bloody army!"
Timeless classic
What a masterpiece and thanks for the nostalgic trip!!!
i love this album.i have so many memory
This was one of the first promo's that FFRR sent me back when I was a Billboard reporter. FUCKING AWESOME. The RITM remixes were my faves.
Something utterly special!!!
Imprint of time never to be reclaimed
love this choon headphones and lose yourself for 15mins 😎
2023 , What does God Say ? Perfect Sunrise "
Most beautiful and brutal.
Exactly straight to the heart 💓
From my favorite Orbital album!
3:09 I love this part, it sounds so menacing.
❤ 2024
Totally incredible
I saw them summer of 99 with the Lo Fidelity Allstars and the Crystal Method on the so-called "Community Service Your." Amazing show to behold and remember. Lots of violence (surprising) and drugs (Not surprising) upon entering via this nondescript bowling alley & arcade in now closed venue in the grimey south side of my hometown.
we are surely unique, we are not alone...
oh the 90s!...
The best track from the album with the best title ever :)
Truly epic!
It sure is. Phil and Paul did quite a lot of work with her before she formed Goldfrapp.
Pure fucking class
Absolute genius
ahh, back in the (X)'s, when music was good
Insert person's decade for X
Lol. But seriously. Good music stopped when 2000s arrived.
love it
why are we here? To listen to this of course!!!!!
You need to own also, the In Sides album. One of the best from Orbital
And the Brown album. Even Middle of Nowhere is essential.
One of the best albums ever, period. Put a titanium copy in a space probe with other select human artifacts.
Yet another good tune.
Euphoric indeed.
Brilliant track based on Rolf Harris' classic speech at Glastonbury.
Amazing
Cool...Had not heard this in a long time!
I'm in love with Alison😍
cool i havent heard this in years. good upload
Jan 15th 1995, thats when I first bought this album, yes im that pathetic.
Where was I ? I listened to Madonna, but missed this. Why Mtv did not play Orbital?
They did, you missed that too.... bummer :,(
arturgallery
Orbital has beats, but they aren't the beats that sell singles, they're the beats that induce trace states. MTV didn't play it because MTV only plays pop. This is the soul of indie trance.
+Marcus thisisnotmylastname MTV twighlight zone !
Maybe we were lucky to have MTV-Europe... But they did play a lot of Orbital in the party zone and the chill out zone (every saterday after midnight) and they even did a Orbital Live Session once which I had recorded on a VHS tape by mere accident.... ua-cam.com/video/WiVckFoTlIc/v-deo.html
MTV played it under a specialty Electronica show
It then was dominant in MTV2 for a short time
Hell yes!
This is a fucking masterpiece
Perhaps their best album.
There still is lots of non repetitive electronic music. Not even sure what age you mean, because Orbital was repetitive untill this album . (And there is nothing wrong with repetitive beats) :)
🙏
just the best album....
"He's just a dirty, long hair, work-shy layabout!
Ought to be in the bloody army!" 🤣
What does god say?
Ill be working at the Camp Bestival this year... really looking forward to these
